Information About AskBilqis.com
Ask Bilqis was founded in 1999 by Wael Hesham Abdelgawad, as a feature of Zawaj.com Muslim Matrimonial Service. The goal was to answer people’s questions on the subjects of marriage and family relationships.
Originally the column was written by sister Bilqis Hanifah. Bilqis was married for twenty six years, has six children from young to adult, is active in Muslim community life and works as a Library Associate at a university library. In addition, she has studied Quranic Therapy at the Quranic Open University.
Bilqis wrote this column for several years, but retired in 2004. After a period of dormancy, the column was revived by Wael Hesham Abdelgawad. He continues to write the column today, though occasionally some questions may be answered by guest writers.
Wael is the founder of several Islamic websites and organizations, including Zawaj.com Muslim Matrimonial Service, MuslimLiving, DuaShare.com, Muslim Web Works, IslamTop50.com, and a da’wah organization. He has been happily married since 1998 - alhamdulillah - and has one young daughter named Salma.
You are welcome to send your questions on the topics of engagements, Islamic weddings, Islamic marriage, Muslim family life, family problems, divorce, raising children, etc. In other words, anything marriage or family related.
PLEASE NOTE:
1. We cannot guarantee that your question will be answered. In fact, the odds are that it will not, because of the volume of email we receive. But you may find a similar question from someone else that has been answered. We also encourage you to also seek other sources of assistance, such as your local Imam, visiting scholars, or wise individuals from your community. Also, do not forget to pray Salat al-Istikhara and ask Allah for guidance.
2. We will not answer or even reply to any questions on subjects other than marriage and family life in Islam. For example, questions about ribaa (usury), diet, immigration, etc. will not be answered unless they directly relate to Islamic marriage or family in some way.
3. Wael is not a scholar and does not issue fatwas. He answers questions with common sense, an open mind and an Islamic perspective. Some answers may consist largely of Wael’s opinion. You might agree or disagree with his answer. That is your right.
Thank you for visiting our site and may Allah guide you and bless you in the dunyaa and aakhirah.
