Islamic marriage advice and family advice

Is it possible for Syeds to marry another caste?

Ants have castes (show here are a male, queen and worker). Human beings should not have castes!

Sir,

Is it possible to have a marriage of a syed girl with a boy of another caste? Like I am awais jumani, and I want to get married with syed girl?

Is it possible in Islam, and can you give some facts and figures about it? Please, I am waiting for your reply, sir.

  1. There is no caste system in Islam.

    • I agree with Sister Precious Star.

In Islam you can marry any practicing muslim, regardless of thier backgrounds, races, cultures or whatever you may call it. In islam no one is superior over the other except by piety.

      Allah the Almighty says:

"O people! We created you from a male and a female, and made you races and tribes, that you may know one another (and help each other with the things that each one of you have, that are different from each other's, due to races or tribe). The best among you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous. Allah is All-Knowing, Well-Experienced."
      (Quran 49: 13)

Every caste system is bid'ah (an innovation in the Deen). And the Prophet (s.a.w.s) said "...every bid'ah leads to deception, and evey deception leads to hell fire." (Nisa'i)

      Hope this helps insha Allah!

  2. There was and never will be a caste system in Islam.
These are all things made by man and culture!

  3. Any Muslim can marry any Muslim. The only boundaries are those set by Allah in the Quran (you cannot marry a mahrem, a Muslim woman cannot marry a non-Muslim, a chaste person should not marry a fornicator, etc).

There are no castes in Islam. In fact Islam came in part to abolish such artificial distinctions and to do away with castes, tribalism, nationalism, etc. The Messenger of Allah (sws) said,

"Unless you cease boasting about your dead ancestors - who are only coals for the fire - you will be of less account with Allah than the beetle that rolls dung with its nose. Allah has removed from you the pride of the pre-Islamic period and its boasting of ancestors. One is nothing but a pious believer or a miserable sinner. All of you are children of Adam, and Adam came from dust." - Abd Daud and Tirmidhi

  4. Assalam alaikum brother,

All the advice here is sufficient and really good. I will just add something briefly for you to think about:

I am assuming you are from Pakistan (or India)--how do you suppose that the girl you want to marry became a Syed? I assume that you are referring to Syeds as being the descendants of the Prophet (pbuh), in which case the person you want to marry, (if she isn't the direct descendent of the Prophet (pbuh)), would have had an ancestor that married a Syed--that means that her ancestor would have had to marry someone who didn't belong to their family tree in even a remote way!

Besides the fact that there is no cast system in Islam--you don't need any statistics to prove this point because even just one counterexample is sufficient. If a person claims that all the sheep in the world are white, it takes only one black sheep to disprove the conjecture--not millions. In the same way, that one girl you want to marry is sufficient proof that not only is there no cast system in Islam, but she couldn't be Syed without people marrying outside of their families/clans/etc.

I pray that you both marry and find joy and happiness inn shaa Allah, Ameen.

  5. i m syed girl and want to do marriage with in other caste boy.. but my parnts did not allow me. what can i do?

    • As it has been said repeatedly, there is no caste system in Islam. I suggest you try to find an open-minded Imam or scholar in your area who can explain this to your parents. Or print this page and show it to them. It is vital in Islam that we judge other human beings based on their taqwa (God-consciousness) and general character issues, rather than artificial restrictions that derive from Hinduism and do not belong in our religion.
