Can we do nikah in our home?
We want a quiet nikah so we can have a halal life together.
Asalamu alaikum I wanted to know if me and my fiance could do nikah in our home since we are converts and since we want it to be private, and we don't want to commit zina, please help?

Alhamdulillah you both want to get married.
If you really want to do nikah at home then I think it is possible to arrange it with your local mosque to have an Imam to come over and have your marriage take place at your place, you also need witnesses and may have to go to the mosque to sign official documents or maybe have the Imam to bring it along where you get married. I suggest you speak to an imam at your local mosque and stay away from committing zina.

That sounds really sweet to have your nikah in your backyard on a warm summer evening...just my opinion. I think it sounds like a completely legitimate request for an Imam to come over with the documents and perform the ceremony in peace and quiet. Then maybe have a small cookout party of close family members, with strings of lights in the trees 🙂
