Confused with an istikhara dream

istikhara colour

Salaam, I prayed 2 rakah of salatul-istikhara, then I prayed the istikhare dua in durood and ask for my need to Allah (swt). But I am not quite sure about that was my performance of salatul-istikhara was done correctly. Therefore can anyone specify, is it how one should do salatul-istikhara as what I described above?

Although I did see a dream where I went to a take away restaurant at a evening time, ordering a take away. By the time came out of the restaurant with the take away, I saw it went night. There was streets lights near where the restuarant is. But as i went a little further, heading to my home, I saw the whole streets lights were gone and it was completely dark (black). I couldn't see anything so I decided to get back to the restuarant, wait till the lights comes back.

So I could assume this dream was from istikhara but the confusing bit is, I saw I was eating in the restuarant when I went back? As it is that, if one see's they're ate something in their dream, the dream comes from the satan. And istikhara dream comes from allah? So this is where i'm confused worrying did i make the right choice?

Please specify clearly, that what the dream might of meant? JazzakAllah.

LEYLA'S ANSWER:

Salaam Ameenabegum,

I will quote my fellow editor Maria:

"ISTIKHARA IS NOT ABOUT DREAM INTERPRETATION. Please see the links at the top of this website to read correct and authentic information about Istikhara. Istikhara is about asking Allah sincerely for guidance, then doing the action that feels right in your heart and trusting that Allah will answer your prayer and guide you to the result that is best for you."

It would be irresponsible of me to attempt any interpretation or explanation of your experience,

Peace,

  3. Salaam,

It has been almost 4 weeks I performed Salatul-istikhara in regards to marriage, I did this for week my dreams have come out good as well as getting a good feeling, but the person who I did it for they also performed Salatul-istikhara but was left with a confused feeling.
At the moment I seem to be more confused as to this as 1 of us has a good feeling let the other is left confused, Could you please help, Jazzak'Allah

    • Each one of you must make your own choices. You cannot be responsible for his istikhara or his choices, nor he for yours. Do what you feel is best, and trust that Allah is guiding you through the process.
