My weird dreams – do they indicate magic?

The Valley of Jin

al Wadi al Jinn, Saudi Arabia

Assalamu alaikum brothers and sisters,

Recently I've been having some very weird dreams. One dream I've gotten was from a few weeks back.

My father lives in the USA and normally we will move this year with him In Sha Allah. He came to visit us the beginning of May. The day he came to visit us, I had a very scary dream. It was so realistic that at first I didn't know if it was a dream or not.

1.  I was in my bed, trying to go to sleep but I couldn't, that's when I started hearing weird noises and I just knew there were jinns in my room, I didn't see them, but I sensed them. They were playing around with me, making my bed sheets fly and throwing things in my bed. I heard very loud music for a few seconds and then it was gone, so it was like they were trying to scare me and they did a very good job at it too. But for some odd reason I didn't run and get out of bed, I just sat there.

Then I heard my mothers noise (it wasn't her) and she screamed really loud (in my language) : (My name) Get up and go pray Fajr! That's when I was putting my hands on my ears, I was really scared, then I heard my real mother and uncle and they were awake and going downstairs to the kitchen. I remember that I shouted at the Jinns, saying something like 'No you're wrong!' and I ran downstairs. The rest of the dream was not important.

When I woke up and looked at the time, I got up and prayed Fajr and I had a hard time sleeping for a few days.

2. This week I had another dream, but with no jinn. The only important thing I remember in my dream was that I was making magic potions and I drank from a magic potion and I could tele-port myself from one place to the other. At the end of my dream I tele-ported myself in some stranger's house and she started to scream, I drank from my potion and wanted to escape but I couldn't and her husband/boyfriend came. I had to prove my innocence and I did and I could leave the house.

3. And just today I had another weird dream. I was in a bedroom, it was not my house at first. I was just sitting on my bed and I for some odd reason, wanted to summon a jinn and I did, but the odd thing was when I was summoning it, I wasn't using made up words, I was praying surahs. I remember me praying surah Fatiha in my heart.

I summoned a cute boy, who was a jinn ( I don't understand very well either..) He was a quite jinn and wasn't some scary kind of one. Then I found it disturbing but I started to kiss that boy/jinn and the rest of the dream wasn't all that important.

I just wanted to know if someone might be doing magic on me or do my dreams mean anything else?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

P.S, I just wanted to say, I'm a Muslima who prays 5 times a day and I try my best to become a very good Muslima and learning a lot about Islam and doing good.

  1. Assalamu'alaikum sister,

It is difficult to say it is magic. Because Jinn can reside in a home, even without magic. And I can not say for sure that there is Jinn in your home or you are seeing all of this because of the Jinn, though frequent dreams about Jinn can indicate their presence.

I recommend you to ruqyah on yourself using the following booklet: http://prophetic-medicine.com/download/i/mark_dl/u/4008809703/4574332416/The_Ruqya_Handbook.pdf

Don't worry, if you pray all 5 as you should and read the daily supplications, Jinn can cause no harm, in sha Allah.

  2. assalam mualaikum brother iv also been having strange dreams i would like u to answer. ever since i moved to my new house iv been having dreams like a jinn grabbing my legs and throwing me to the ground. everytime i dream most days i always see the same jinn sometimes another in that dream the jinn always hits me and i actually FEEL the pain i wanna stop this and sometimes i feel like hes grabbing my organism i feel the pain.its always intapheres my dream i dont know whats the cause of this. i tell my parents they dont really care can some body please help me find a solution thank you.

    • Wa Alaikum as Salam brother,

When you go to sleep, make sure you recite all the du'as taught by Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Get a copy of this book of duas called Hisn al Muslim (Fortress of the Muslim), you can find these du'as in it. You can download a copy of this book here: http://d1.islamhouse.com/data/en/ih_books/single/en_hisn_al-muslim.pdf

If Jinn is actually disturbing you then you could also do ruqyah yourself. Download the booklet I mentioned in my previous comment and follow the instructions.

Also make sure you keep yourself clean and away from filth. Keep your thoughts, your house, clean from un-Islamic material, which includes amulets (both hung on walls and worn by a person) and other such stuff. Read the booklet, you will know what all has to be done, in sha Allah.

And do not fear the Jinn. You know that ot actually fears us? If we recite Qur'aan, the Jinn (Shaitan) can not bear it, he is humiliated. Shaitan does not deserve your fear, he is weak and his plans are weak, too. Your Lord is Allah, Who Created the Shaitan. Trust in Him and believe that you will defeat the Shaitan.

  3. and one thing similer to his storie i one day when i use to sleep alone heard wierd screeches i never heard of that make me panic iv also heard a wierd scream that woke me up my heart pounds really fast im scared of lots of things it can end my life easily thats why im seeking help.

    • This is possibly due to your fear. Any noise we hear, we attribute it to the source of our fear. So, forget about it and trust in Allah. Shaitan can do no harm to the obedient servants of Allah, so be one.

    • Rahat, I think 99% it is a dream. Before you sleep, pray 'Ishaa and Tahajjud, then recite Ayat al-Kursi.

  6. I have had this dream a few days ago that see my brother going into the bathroom(to wash his hands) and he has not closed the door. I catch a glimpse of something written on the wall, and when my brother comes out i go and see the bathroom's wall. There is some satanic things written on the wall and a word that is associated with the shaitan. I feel terribly scared and i think that definitely there is black magic on my house. I don't remember anything else and i wake up. Please can any one tell me what this dream means?

  7. assalaamu'alaykum...
since 2 weeks I am dreaming of sex.. nude girl etc... doing wet dream?? is it a effect of black magic?

    • Salaams,

Having sexual dreams is not necessarily an effect of black magic. It's actually somewhat normal, particularly for younger men. Having such dreams is not sinful. We are not accountable for what we dream.

  8. Asalamu Alaikum

I have been trying to do Istikara but have been seeing weird dreams.

    • piousmuslimah, Salat-al-Istikhara is not based on dreams or dream interpretation. That's a common misconception. After you have prayed Istikhara, make the choice that seems right to you, and trust that Allah is guiding you to the best outcome because of your prayer.

    • As-salamu alaykum sister parveen. I'm sorry for your loss. Vivid dreams and strange dreams during pregnancy are normal. The dreams have nothing to do with losing your baby. There is certainly nothing demonic about it. See for example this article on WebMD: The Vivid Dreams of Pregnant Women. Unusual food cravings during pregnancy are also very common.
