His Son Bullies My Son
Asalamu Alaikum… I have a rather unique situation. I have been a Muslim for two years now, al hamdulilah. I married a man religiously who already has another wife and five children. I have a son of my own from a previous marriage. His son is 10 and mine is 6. Our marriage is pretty secret when it comes to the children for now.
Well, his son is contantly bullying mine. He punches him in the stomach, slams his face in the wall, and one time threatened to hit him with a hammer had I not intervened. His other wife thinks it is all in good play for kids, but my son is very afraid. When we go to the mosque, my son is scared to be there. My husband tries to talk to his son, but he’s not there usually, as the parties are usually with women and children. He is getting hurt by my always telling him the bad that his son is doing, but I want it to stop (currently his other wife is not speaking with me). I don’t want to go to anyone in the mosque because I don’t want to make my husband or his other wife as bad parents, but I don’t think I have another choice. When we go to the mosque, my son has to stay on my lap and can’t play with the other kids because he will be bullied.
I am a new muslim and I’m not sure what actions to take to be consistent with Islam. Can you help?
