Is khula done?

family argument, not talking, feud, dispute

Salaamualaikum,

My husband lives in Malaysia and I live in India. After waiting for few years I took khula as he was having a illegal relationship with another woman. I sent the papers drafted by a lawyer seeking khula which he signed with the signature of two witnesses. I submitted those papers in a qazi's office and he gave me a khula decree in urdu which I had to submit in waqf board to get an english version.
Now my question is, is this khula done? Or my husband need to verbally say that he is giving khula in front of the qazi?
Please clarify my doubt.
Regards.

  1. Wa 'alaikum as-salaam warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh Sister,

You need to ask the Qazi whether the khul'a process is done or not. Though your husband's signature on the papers you sent him is enough. And Allah knows best.
