Married man converting to Islam
SALAM!
I would like to ask if a non-Muslim Filipino man is already MARRIED and he reverted to Islam, does it affect to his civil marriage in the Philippines? I just want to clarify it, because one of my Muslim friends told me that the marriage of a man will be null and void after embracing Islam. Otherwise, he must marry his christian wife again in Islam.
Kindly help me with this matter. Thank you.

What you are saying is accurate for women, but not for men. If a married woman converted to Islam and her husband did not also convert within 3 months of that, their marriage would become nullified according to shariah. However, if a married man converts to islam and he's married to a christian woman already, his marriage will continue as valid even if she never converts, as muslim men are allowed to be married to christian and jewish women.
That being said, if there is a law in the Phillipines that states otherwise, the law of the land is binding. From what I know, though, there is no easy way for Fillipino marriages to end or be dissolved. So I doubt the civil status of his marriage would be impacted at all by his conversion.
