When you get a positive feeling from wazifa, does it mean it is working?

Well I have been reading this wazeefa for softening the heart (it's for marriage and my intentions are that his parents love and accept me for who i am because they have rejected me for non-religious reasons).

prayer

Allah is 'Al-Mujeeb' - The one who responds

Anyhow, everyday is a struggle. without praying I would have been in Hospital because I know I am severely depressed but the prayers are lifting me up.. and depression hits me alot in the day-time, especially when I wake up, I can't get up and I have to start reading tasbeeh and duas to make myself get up..

however before sleeping I feel quite hopeful.. because after Esha I do this wazifa and by the time I finish it I get a positive feeling..it's a wonderful feeling..and I just get confused what that means?

I am being very patient..  I prayed alot for this man to come into my life and he has everything I prayed for.. but since he told his mother about me, he has started to distance himself from me.. (I am not sure why).. and I have no idea what is going on.. I dont mind the distance because in Islam it is haraam to keep a close distance..I dont care if he doesnt want to talk to me.. I just want him to marry me.. thats all. He wants to marry me.. but he is waiting for his parents approval.. we dont have much time because his family is after few girls..

but since i have been praying alot.. he recently told me that his parents dont want him to marry the girl that he was about to get married to.. but he is not sure why they changed their mind.. and I hope its a positive sign ? and I am praying that Allah converts their intentions towards me.

I would like to know that when you get a positive feeling from wazifa does it mean it is working?

  1. Dear Distressed1

I think God knows that you are suffering and He hears your prayers to Him. As to whether He will give you what you want, no one knows. I don't think you should interpret this "feeling better" as a psychic mesage from God that He will grant you your wish.

However, the fact that you sometimes feel better after praying means that Allah SWT is trying to comfort you. He is soothing your heart and perhaps even sending Angels to your side! I have been going through my own emotional suffering lately after becoming very heartbroken; I know that my pleas to Allah SWT will at the very least lift the sorrow and pain from heart, even if they do not give me love in my life. I hope the same for you, Insha'Allah, and ultimately I hope that you get what you want if it is best for you. Remember that Allah is the best of planners.

  2. Dear Distressed1, As-salamu alaykum,

Precious Star gave you an excellent answer and I agree with everything she (or he) said. It's natural that prayer and dua' will lift your spirit and ease your heart.

The Prophet (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said: 'if there is a river running in front of someone's house, and if he bathes in it five times everyday, will there be any dirt left on his body?' This is the example of the five times salat, by virtue of which Allah T'ala removes the dirt of His servant's sins.' [Tirmizi]

So it's natural that salat and dua' will make you feel light and comfortable.

However, I want to say a few words about this concept of "wazifa" or "wazeefa". From what I understand, this is a practice found among Muslims of the Indo-Pakistani subcontinent. Apparently there are so-called shaykhs who claim, "If you say this phrase or dua' ten times every day, Allah will give you a promotion," or something like that. Whatever it is you are seeking in life, they "prescribe" for you something to say every day in order to get it.

My concern is that we are treating Allah as if He is a vending machine. If you put in the right number of coins, out pops your reward. It doesn't work that way. This idea of wazeefa sounds a lot like superstition to me. It sounds like typical Indian numerology or astrology with an Islamic flavor.

I think it would be better to dispense with this term "wazeefa" altogether and use the word "dua" as the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) taught us.

Dua' is powerful and can achieve many things, but it's important to stick to whatever the Prophet (pbuh) taught us and not invent anything new. If we claim that a dua' can achieve such-and-such, we must have evidence for that from the Sunnah.

For example, Ibn Mas’ud reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, “If any servant of Allah afflicted with distress or grief makes this supplication, his supplication will be accepted: ‘O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of your maidservant. My forehead is in Your hand. Your command conceming me prevails, and Your decision concerning me is just. I call upon You by every one of the beautiful names by which You have described Yourself, or which You have revealed in Your book, or have taught anyone of Your creatures, or which You have chosen to keep in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Qur’an the delight of my heart, the light of my breast, and remover of my griefs, sorrows, and afflictions‘.”
Source: Reported by Ahmad and Ibn Hibban

So that's a good example to follow. There are many, many duas taught to us in the Sunnah and we should learn them and use them.

But we cannot invent something that is not in the Sunnah. For example, if someone says, "Repeat Ar-Razzaq ("The Provider", one of Allah's names) fifty times every day, and you will get a pay increase at work." This is something invented, not from the Sunnah, and therefore it is bid'ah and we should avoid it. It's good to repeat Allah's names, but not as a part of an invented "formula" or wazeefa that someone claims will have a guaranteed effect.

Also, there are a few important things to keep in mind. One is that Allah is not our servant. We are His servants. He will answer our dua' if He chooses, and how He chooses. We cannot force Him to do anything against His will. So even though the Prophet (pbuh) assures us that our dua' will be accepted, we must understand that it may not be accepted in the way we expect. Allah will give us what is best for us, in this life or the next, and it may not always be what we think is best.

Another important point is that there are conditions for dua' to be accepted. Among these conditions are:

    1. A Hadith says "Ad-Du'aa Huwal-'ibaadah", which means, "Dua is worship." [Abu Dawud,at-Tirmidhi, Hasan Saheeh], Dua is Ibadah so calling upon anyone other than Allah in one's Dua is Shirk. This is an important condition of having one's Dua accepted; the Dua should be directed to Allah alone.

    2. A second condition would be sincerity or Hudoor alqalb, having the heart present.

    3. Also, one's food, drink, clothes and lifestyle should be Halal. One should avoid unlawful, impious or forbidden sources or means of livelihood.

    4. Fourth, one cannot ask for something sinful or Haram. Dua should not be made against family and property (i.e. to sever the ties of kinship).

    5. If one asks Allah to curse someone, it rises up to heaven and goes to the person if they are deserving, if not it returns to the person supplicating.

    6. Patience is another condition. This perseverance in making Dua is important. One should not say "Why hasn't Allah answered my Dua" or "I have prayed and prayed so many times, but the same was not accepted" and then become disappointed and give up praying. An example of this is like a person who planted a seed or a sapling, and kept looking after it and watering it and when its complete shape and height was slow in coming, they left it and forgot about it.

    7. Lastly one should have expectation, belief with certainty only Allah can answer the Dua. Understanding dependence on Allah and asking with absolute resolve and believing with certainty that one's Dua will be answered is a also a condition of acceptance. One should not say "O Allah do this...if you wish..." because one should appeal to Allah with determination, for nobody can force Allah to do something against his Will. If one fulfills these conditions, Allah will definitely answer the Dua, avert some equivalent evil or give better in the Hereafter.

So if you ask Allah for something and it seems like you are not getting an answer, it could be that you have not met the conditions for dua; or it could be that Allah has given you something better than what you asked, whether in this life or the next.

  3. Very well said Wael. What about when people ask these pious people who dedicated their whole life to Islam, living in the masjid, and does not have any source of income, to do istakhara for them? The people give them money (like a donation to them) do istakhara. They supposedly can read better istakhara signs then regular people, as this is what I was told.

  4. Salaam, I know I am late in my reply - I apologise for that - I just wanted to add to the excellent responses (MashaAllah) - as precious star said dua and tasbih uplifts you. you mentioned you feel this after Isha? An you know what - I have huge problems concentrating in my salat except after salatul isha, so this ease you are feeling alhumdulilah is reinforced in the night (the last 3rd of night) as Allah swt comes down to the lowest heaven.

Allah's Apostle said, "Every night when it is the last third of the night, our Lord, the Superior, the Blessed, descends to the nearest heaven and says: Is there anyone to invoke Me that I may respond to his invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone asking My forgiveness so that I may forgive him?. " (See Hadith No. 246,Vol. 2)

SubhanAllah - so be present - pray tahajjud but dont do it to just get this guy to marry u. Sister its hard but try to change your intention - ask Allah swt to bring you close to Him. You will find contentment InshaAllah and Allah will help you.

Try to keep an open mind - this guy may be good for you - he may not. Ask Allah to guide you towards what He knows is good for you, and to make you pleased with it and to turn you away from what He knows is bad for you and make you pleased without it - this is my opinion anyway.

With respect to a positive feeling - you sort of just know. Sometimes its an instinctual feeling in duas of guidace, other times something happens (but i agree with brother wael - if there is no authenticy in dua wazeefa its best to avoid it - make dua.

I pray that Allah swt gives you the best spouse and makes u (and us all) inhabitants of janntul firdaws -
    Ameen
