Positive (white) istikhara but my mother refused the proposal

istikhara colour

Istikhara and Dreams

Aassalumualaykum,

I had got marriage proposal from my aunty's side. That boy, he is not my cousin but he is my cousin's paternal cousin.

I had done istekhara before this proposal because I was intended that this is going to happen. After one night I show a dream that my hairs and eyebrows became white. I don't remember what exactly it was but when I search about it, it showed me that white colour is positive.

After few days my grandmaa asked my mother about this proposal but my mother refused them because that boy is little less educated then me and we are shaikh while he belong to different caste.

I just couldn't tell my mother about this istekhara because I was not sure about the meaning, moreover that boy normally approach my dream even though I don't have any feeling for him.

Please help me in this, I can see that he really likes me and want to get married but I'm confused.

m.r.shaikh

  1. -Seeing white does not mean istikhara is positive or negative,

-Seeing any color in a dream does not have anything to do with a negative or positive istikhara.

-Dreams have nothing to do with istikhara. Nor do you perform isitkhara waiting for a specific response or to get some kind of definitive answer.

-Istikhara is praying to be guided by Allah through events or hints.

-Refer to this following link and perform istikhara again

    http://www.zawaj.com/askbilqis/salat-al-istikhara-the-guidance-prayer/istikhara-in-the-light-of-the-sunnah/

-Do not ask someone to do istikhara on your behalf and do not believe in anyone who says they can interpret the meaning of your dreams. Since dreams are just thoughts during your sleep whose context cannot be translated in to reality.

    • Actually dreams can be more than just thoughts in our sleep that cannot be reality ...“True dreams are one of the forty-six parts of Prophethood.” (al-Bukhaari, 6472; Muslim, 4201)

      • The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Dreams are of three types: a dream from Allah, a dream which causes distress and which comes from the Shaytaan, and a dream which comes from what a person thinks about when he is awake, and he sees it when he is asleep.” (al-Bukhaari, 6499; Muslim, 4200)

The dreams of the Prophets are wahy (revelation) for they are protected from the Shaytaan. The Ummah is agreed upon this. This is why Ibrahim set out to fulfil the command of Allah to sacrifice his son Ismaa'eel when he saw that in a dream; may peace be upon them both. The dreams of people other than the Prophets are to be examined in the light of the clear Wahy [i.e., the Qur'an and Sunnah]. If they are in accordance with the Qur'aan and Sunnah, all well and good.

        - the op's dream is not the same as a prophets dream because its not some kind of revelation Also istikhara is not based on dreams.

-How would you find out if the Ops dream is true?

  2. How can you say that istikhara is not something that is valid demise?

    Why do you read istikhara??

When you want an answer from allah for a specific need that's why allah has given salatul istikhara.

Yes if you see white and green is good.

    Black and red is bad.

Demise..you've just named the Hadith so really contradicts what your views are on istikhara, which is invalid.

M.r sheikh tell your mother and tell her what you saw as it is a sign from allah as you have been praying istikhara for a need and want and allah has given you a sign.

Inshallah always keep istikhara and salatul Tahajjat when in a specific need contrary to what some people's views are you should always ask the aqeedah or sect a person is from when they are giving their point of view. Always keep that in mind.

    Inshallah wish u luck.

    Salam!

    • What are you going on about when have I stated that istikhara is not something that is valid

-The Arabic word 'Istikhara' means to ask God for whatever is good and in our best interest

-You pray istikhara when you need help in making a decision, you pray to Allah that if the decision is in your favor then Allah should help you in carrying out the decision, otherwise if the decision does not benefit you then the inclinations be removed from your mind.

(READ this article: http://www.understanding-islam.com/q-and-a/worship-and-fasting/the-concept-of-istikharah-5464) and read the article on this website about what istikhara is actually about , you do not need to see a dream, as many people do not see a dream.

-Istikhara does not work like traffic lights where you just see colors. Why don't you actually bother reading about it. And where does it state that white and green are good? do you have any quranic verse or hadith to back that up or do you simply state that because of your cultural misinterpretations.

-Who are you to decide if Allah has given her a sign? Are you some kind of prophet or something to be able to decide such a thing? Like I stated before people like you who claim to be able to interpret dreams are liars.

The first hadith I stated was: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Dreams are of three types: a dream from Allah, a dream which causes distress and which comes from the Shaytaan, and a dream which comes from what a person thinks about when he is awake, and he sees it when he is asleep.” (al-Bukhaari, 6499; Muslim, 4200)

-How can you prove that her dream was from Allah and not just something the person has been thinking about while awake and then seen a series of images in her sleep.
