Seeking dua for increasing learning power

Students studying together

Life of a student

Assalam Walaikum,

As I am doing Engineering, and after that getting an MBA, I want to be a scholar with my studies as Allah always supports me.

But from 10th standard my overall performance results decreased. Please give me some dua that can make me study more and make my parents proud of me. I want to be top in my college and I do work hard for that, but please tell me a dua and information regarding this.

Allah Hafiz...

    Study Tips:

    1. Do the prayers at their correct times.

    2. Pray a 2 rakat nafl prior to exam

    3. Write " بِسْمِه تَعَاَلى " - In the Name of the Most High - (instead of Bismillah...) at the top of the page or cover.

    4. Say بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ (In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind) - before commencing the exam - indeed before anything that you do.

    5. Recite some du'as (like the ones listed above), and keep in constant dhikrullah (i.e. the daily dhikrs when waking, dressing, eating, sleeping, etc)

    6. Come home and pray 2 rakat nafl after the exam for shukr (offer thanks to Allah) for granting you the strength and persistence and ability to complete the exam and accomplish goals inshaAllah

    7. Increase in your reading and listening of the Qur'an and performing more ibadah (worship) (i.e. nafilah (voluntary) prayers and deeds). Keep away from bad actions and deeds - Follow up a bad deed with a good deed, to cancel it out.

Some Dua's for you students may Allah make your paths easy for you....Ameen..

    • Hi i am not able to find out hadith 7:158 from sahi al bukhari which u mentioned instead of this i am getting this.

      Volume 7, Book 62, Number 158:
      Narrated Anas:

I will narrate to you a Habith I heard from Allah's Apostle and none other than I will tell you of it. I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "From among the portents of the Hour are the following: Religious knowledge will be taken away; General ignorance (in religious matters) will increase; illegal Sexual intercourse will prevail: Drinking of alcoholic drinks will prevail. Men will decrease in number, and women will increase in number, so much so that fifty women will be looked after by one man."

What i am understanding with sahi al bukhari 7:158 is 7 for volume and 158 for hadith number and i have checked from some of the websites

      https://www.sahih-bukhari.com/Pages/Bukhari_7_62.php
      https://www.thereligionofpeace.com/quran/bukhari/062-sbt.htm

Can anyone please clarify wheather i am wrong to understand the reference or reference for hadith mentioned above is wrong if it is wrong then what is the actual reference

    • Thank you sooo much
      Jazak Allahu khairan

  2. Assalaam waalaikum wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuhu.

Exams are coming up, right? I'm in the same situation as well.

I'll share you my routines I follow when studying.

Before studying, I recite Ayatul Kursi 3 times, then recite Al-Iklaas, Al-Falaq, and An-Naas 3 times each. I've read in this site that Ayatul Kursi increases memory power (5th point).

    http://forum.netmuslims.com/showthread.php?4084-15-Benefits-of-Ayatul-Kursi

And then I say,"Rabbi zidni ilman, war zuqni fahman". It roughly translates as "Oh Allah, please increase my knowledge and understanding."

I recommend practice by writing often as it's the best form of practice.

After closing the book, I say, "Oh Allah, the knowledge I've gathered, I entrust it to you. Please bring it back to me in times of need and I seek refuge in You from evil and forgetfulness."

When receiving answer sheet in the exam hall, recite Ayatul Kursi in mind/thoughts.

I've also read in a site where Dr. Zakir Naik stated that memorizing the Quran shareef increases your memory.

Eat apples, bananas, almonds, walnuts, fish and other memory boosting foods. No junk food.

    That's all I know. I hope my answer's a bit helpful.

Allah Hafiz. And all the best and wish you success Insha Allah.

  3. Salam,

Here are some wonderful dua's for students that I found via the web.

    http://www.duas.org/student.htm

Salam and good luck in all that you do!

    • Duas.org is a SHIA influenced website, it contains many unauthentic, weak and fabricated hadiths and man-made duas.

I wouldn't recommend this at all.

      • Even if the duas are Sh'iac can we still read them as I read the translations and went through them I did'nt see anything wrong.

I would not like to argue whether they are fabricated or false. That only Allah knows. While the question of reading and asking Allah's help through those duas is allowed or not?

        JazakAllahu Khair.

      • Im sorry, but do you have some sort of grudge against shias?
Thats just sad because I thought Muslims were supposed to be brothers and were not supposed to fight against each other.. I got this website check by a very respected Maulana. And he has confirmed that this site is NOT fabricated. Whatever they have posted is true. And is found in Islamic books. So please. Refrain from spreading rumours. JazakAllah.

  4. You know what is the best dua for anything in life? It's pray and make dua as long as you can..... In my opinion I belive myself that only this dua can make you peace. Pray fajr then sit in the prayer mat and keep making dua till sunrise then do your other work. If you are sincear Allah will listen and answer to your dua and you can make dua when ever you want.

  5. Assalamu'alaikum,

Shaikh Dr. Murtaza Baksh has suggested some good steps for examination preparations in his Khutbah.

    Here is the summary:

    1. Remember that you are better than you think you are. It is Shaitaan who does waswas that you know nothing

    2. Trust in Allah - Tawakkul 'Alallah - But tie your camel, then trust in Allah (It means that you do what you can, then trust in Allah)

    3. Change the environment of the home. Do what the child (taking the exam) likes (this is for the parent):
    a. Make the home Eemaani
    b. The place where the child reads, make it clean and only keep what is necessary - Keep the fragrance that the child likes. In free time, listen to the Quran
    c. Take 5 minutes breaks occasionally while reading
    d. Don't eat much - you become lazy - Eat fresh fruits and dry fruits or peanuts

    4. The next subject must be studied for:
    a. Minimum 6-7 hours of sleep
    i. Understanding is important than reading more and more - so, sleep well and read only for some time
ii. If you sleep, then there will be ten times better result
    b. 3-4 hours before sleeping, revise. Wear whatever you will wear tomorrow (this is said to create an impact on the memory)
    i. Use highlighters
    ii. Definitions in one color
iii. Causes in one color, etc.
    iv. Difficult topics, underline
    c. Sleep in normal night clothes
    d. Quick revision of 15 minutes - Concentrate on the underlined topics (before going to bed)
    e. Pray Witr and Salat al Layl
    f. Adhkaar ar Nawm (Read the du'as before sleeping)
    g. Wake up with Allah's Remembrance
    h. Supplicate all possible du'as from Hisn al Muslim - Adhkaar of toilet, Adhkaar after Fajr, morning, etc.
    i. Do Ghusl
    j. Do Salah in Masaajid - for boys
    k. Eat before going

    5. While going in the morning, take half an hour to revise

    6. Fear before exams? It is due to:
    a. Those who do not take rest and keep reading
    b. Eating without eating or drinking (do not eat properly)
    c. Solution:
    i. Sleep well for 6-7 hours
ii. Don't stress your mind more than it can bear
iii. Buy fruits, dry fruits, peanuts, etc. a day before exams
iv. Only study and not do something else along, such as TV, music, etc.
    v. Drink a glass of milk in the morning, drink a spoonful of honey
vi. Supplicate Aayat al Kursi, and Surahs Ikhlaas, Falaq and Naas - for tranquility and confidence
vii. If you fear the paper's difficulty, read Aayah al Kursi with tarteel (beautiful recitation)
viii. Read this: Allahumma la Sahla illa Ma Ja'altahu Sahla; wa anta Taj'alul Hizna iza Shi'ta Sahla
    ix. Open the paper
    1) See the entire paper
    2) Look for compulsory questions
    3) Look for instructions
    4) Do the easy ones first
    5) Difficult ones, mark them
    6) Fix a time for a particular question - Don't give more time that fixed, so that the entire paper is attempted
    7) Revise after doing the exam, to confirm you have done the exam properly
    8) If seems easy, Praise Allah
    9) If seems difficult, do Du'a to Allah

    7. Finally:
    a. If you have time between two exams, then refresh yourself, eat something, etc. - Revise for half an hour or so
    b. Do not discuss about what has been written by you in the exam - It may affect your other exam - Go home immediately
    c. If wants to rest, the child should be allowed to rest
    d. If wants to read, begin reading, and do the same thing the above

  6. What is the meaning of 'tie the camel first'?

    • It is generally used as a proverb. Originally said by Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Read this:

One day the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) noticed a 'bedouin' (desert Arab) leaving his camel without tying it and he asked the 'bedouin': "Why don't you tie down your camel?" The 'bedouin' answered, "I put my trust in Allah." The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) then said, "Tie your camel first, then put your trust in Allah" (At-Tirmidhi)

It means that we should do what we can, then for the rest, we trust in Allah
