Are the Hadeeths really from Allah? – CLOSED

The Truth of Islam

The Truth of Islam

Hello everyone, thank you for reading my post. I have a few questions regarding the Hadeeths. I know that everyone has different hadeeths they adhere too and some muslims do not accept any of them. My primary question is; Why do people behave as if the hadeeth are part of the Quran when they are not? And secondly does the Quran not say that anything after the Quran that is attributed to Allah s.w.t should be seen as lies?

I mean no disrespect,  everyone's answers will be appreciated,  I have been muslim for only 3 months and I am still learning Arabic.

Thank you.

  1. As-salamu alaykum,

We follow and obey the Prophet (peace be upon him) and strive to be like him in matter of worship, because Allah commanded us to in the Quran numerous times, in many contexts. For example:

“And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it).” (Quran 59:7)

“. . . (And) if you differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger . . .” (Quran 4:59)

There are many similar ayahs. The upshot is that if we believe in the Quran then we must also follow the Prophet. This has been written about extensively, so I won't copy what has been written, but I'll provide a few links:

Sunnah - why should we follow it?

    What is Sunnah?

    Justification for following the Sunnah

Some say that the instruction to obey and follow the Prophet means only to follow the book, i.e. the Quran. This makes no sense. Allah could have sent the revelation down with an angel, or on a great tablet, or directly to the hearts of human beings. But it was revealed through a man for a reason, because part of his job was to explain and demonstrate how the Quran should be put into practice.

One obvious example is the salat (the prescribed daily prayer). The method of praying is not given in the Quran, only a broad outline. Without the teaching of the Prophet we would not know how to pray; you would find Muslims praying in all different ways, with no unity.

I'll close this post now, as this is not our area of focus on this website.
