Calling fiancé via web cam

Web cam, webcam

Salam. My fiancé and I live in different parts of the world. Since our situation makes it hard to meet, we want to make sure whether calling via web camera online with the family's permission is acceptable in Islam. Note that we are both good muslims and we know our limits. Thank you

  1. Assalaamu Alaykum,

I personally think that it is no different than face to face meetings. That is, if there is mahrem present to chaperone and protect the innocence in the visit, then it's fine. If it is done in private that's considered khilwa and being in khilwa with non mahrem is clearly prohibited. It sounds like your family is trying to do what's right, so if everyone agrees to the arrangement it should be fine.
