  1. As salamu alaykum, Sister,

Congratulations to both of you, the requirements to marry are the same as for a legal marriage, to be single or divorced with all your documentation updated, as Sister Z has said the best is to go to the Mosque and ask the Iman. And yes be sure you have your marriage certificate, because you are going to need it to demonstrate you are married.

  2. Dear Sister 'babyruth', Walaykumsalaam,

Congratulations that you have both accepted Islam and it is wonderful that you both want to marry and live a halaal life togther.

The best thing you can both do is to approach a qualified Imam. He will guide you through the process, i.e. about witnesses, wali and mahr. If you need a certificate to present as proof of your reversion when doing nikah, he will be able to provide you with this. He should also be able to act as a Wali to yourself as a Muslim woman needs a Wali to be present at time of Nikah.

Remember, a Muslim non-mahram man and woman are not permitted to be alone or have any intimacy (verbal or physical) unless they are husband and wife. So until you have your nikah done, take care to practice patience and keep a distance from one another inshaAllah.

If there is nothing else hidden, there is no reason why you cannot go and marry today. Its a very simple thing, so take these steps and may Allah put blessings in this for you!

  3. Assalamu alaykum Sister,

May Allah bless you both. Welcome to the Religion of Islam.

We hope Allah keeps you in His Mercy in this life and the hereafter.

Yes, getting married in Islam is fairly simple process. So as Sister Z wrote, go ahead to a mosque and meet an Imam and Insha Allah he will work it out for you.

Also please do not keep the boy-friend girl-friend thing go on anymore, just go and get married as soon as you can, as this is the only way intimacy is acceptable to Allah between a man who is non mahram to a woman.

Salaam and may Allah give you comfort from each other and your offspring Insha Allah.

    Your brother,
    Munib.
