AsalaamOAlkuim

I am deaf woman and 33 years old. I am still waiting for marriage. Unfortunately noone come to proposal. I start depressed. My mama hopes i will get married. All the years i deeply prayed to Allah. Now i am fed up of pray. I offer namaz and just say Alhmdulillah for everything. All my age and younger cousins are married. I feel noone wants to marry because of my deafness. You recommend a dua for marriage?

  2. Salaam sister. Sorry to learn that your proposal has not yet come through. Be patient, it will come Insha Allah or you will enjoy the rewards in the hereafter. if you live in the West, I would suggest to go out visit back home or your origin of country. Don't restrict your choices to the place where you stay now.

  3. Dearest sister, I don't know where you live, but there are websites aimed at bringing people together who may have some disabilities. Pls do not be offended by my suggestion. I am not implying that you are disabled in any way apart from the deafness. May Allah swt keep you in perfect health. But my hope is that you may meet a good Muslim man on these websites who will be more accepting of you.

Disabled dating is one website. You can search for "dating for people with disabilities " and find one that is suitable for you.

Sister, you will need to be very proactive about finding a suitable husband as unfortunately Muslims do stigmatise issues like deafness. Such is the sad reality that our men cannot see beyond such things as deafness. I find non-Muslims are more comfortable with deafness and in fact see it as a complete non-issue.
So waiting to meet someone in the traditional way may not be the best course of action.

I apologise in advance if I offend you. Your post touched me deeply and I wanted to help in some way.

You are in my prayers. May Allah swt bless you with a compatible and loving husband.

There are online and real-life communities for deaf Muslim sisters, so if you aren't already involved with these, it might be worth considering. Groups like this can help people make friends with others who are perhaps more understanding of their individual difficulties through shared experiences, and having an active social life might help you feel more positive about yourself and the future. Also, the sisters might have male relatives you could consider for marriage - these men would inshAllah have more understanding of deafness too.
