Islamic marriage advice and family advice

I lived in a non-Muslim country for a long time and don’t know how to pray; can I give up prayers?

choosing Islam

Learning Salah

Salaam

Please help me, My Mother is Russian and my Father is Arabian. I lived in Russia a long time, so I don't know how to pray and I don't know Arabic much.

Now I'm in a Arab country such as Bahrain and it's really hard for me not knowing Arabic  in an Arab country, so I want to know is it ok if I don't pray?  And if that is a problem, what is the fastest way to learn how to pray?

And another thing, I'm at a stage where I have urges for something sexual like seeing a girl naked, so I'm watching a lot of  haram things and I need help. Truly I don't want to do haram as I'm afraid what will happen at judgement day, so please help me, anyone who can.

Thanks to all, and to all May Allah always be with you.

  2. Assalamu'alaikum brother,

It is like asking: I lived in a place where I ate veggies, then I moved to a place where there is only meat. Can I stop eating?

You can't, can you? Just like this, you can not stop praying, and by not praying, a person becomes equal to living dead. What is the use of such a life? Brother, while in Bahrain, meet brothers in masjid, who know English. Ask them about what they read in Salah. Go to the Imam and try talking English. If he does not understand, find an intermediary, a translator. Take help from books of Salah such as the book of Shaikh Albani on Salah or the book by Shaikh Abdul Azeez bin Baaz (May Allah Have Mercy on them).

There is always an alternative, brother. We need to display patience and look for them.

About the latter, get married. If not that, when you have this evil thought, remind yourself of Allah, His Punishment, the Judgement Day. All that is horrific. Read the Qur'aan, about the punishment of Allah. Strive to correct yourself and keep yourself away from bad company. This life is too short and the Aakhirah (The Hereafter) is for eternity. So, choose your destination. Because Allah's Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said:

All of my ummah will enter Paradise except those who refuse.” When asked: “O Messenger of Allah, who would refuse?” He (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise and whoever disobeys me has refused.” [Al-Bukhaari, 7280]

The good deed is what will enable you to attain a position with Allah. Do not waste this life, brother. It won't be given to you again. And when you think about watching haraam, know that Allah Is Watching you, the angels are watching you, waiting for you to stop it. If you stop, a good deed is written for you but if you don't stop, the bad deed is recorded in your book of records. It is this book of records, about which, Allah Said in Surah al Waqiah:

    27. And those on the Right Hand, - Who will be those on the Right Hand?
    28. (They will be) among thornless lote-trees,
    29. Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another,
    30. In shade long-extended,
    31. By water flowing constantly,
    32. And fruit in plenty,
    33. Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off,
    34. And on couches or thrones, raised high.
    35. Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation.
    36. And made them virgins.
    37. Loving (their husbands only), equal in age.
    38. For those on the Right Hand.
    39. A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam).
    40. And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations).
    41. And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand?
    42. In fierce hot wind and boiling water,
    43. And shadow of black smoke,
    44. (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good,
    45. Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury,
    46. And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.)
    47. And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected?
    48. "And also our forefathers?"
    49. Say (O Muhammad ): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times.
    50. "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day.
    51. "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)!
    52. "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum.
    53. "Then you will fill your bellies therewith,
    54. "And drink boiling water on top of it,
    55. "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!"
    56. That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense!

The key to success in almost every deed is patience. Have patience, the extraordinary patience that makes you special. For example, if one has no food and he has patience, that is quite natural. But fasting and not eating while the food is available in abundance, that is extraordinary.

So take this advise, make use of the good that Bahrain has and seek Allah's Refuge from its evils. And do tawbah to Allah so that you may become successful.

  3. Brother,

Since you live in Bahrain, find a local mosque near you and ask the Imam there if someone could teach you how to pray. Even if you don't speak Arabic, there are English speakers whom you can communicate with I am sure. Give it a try and see how you go.

    Salam

  5. Brother,

    you have two issues

    1. Prayers

    2. Sexual desires

PRAYERS - Offering prayer is one of pillar of Islam and it is a must for a Muslim to perform it in order to be a Muslim.

its unfortunate that your circumstances did not let you learn about prayers. but that doesn't mean you cant

you can start learning about it by

    1. Learning online. there are many useful site on web. for example, www equraninstitute com/namaz.html

    2. You can visit any local mosque around and start offering prayers to get used to it.

    3. you can buy Islamic books, available with pronunciation/translation in many languages (may be available in Russian to Arabic also ) which guide you about prayer and Islamic teaching.

Insha-allah you will be able to learn it. I am a live example, i learnt about prayers and recitation of holy Quran at my own with my own help. Even till date, I am in process of improving myself Islamically.

    2. About Sexual desires etc- well, you haven't mentioned your age so its bit hard to advice but if you are mature enough & working ,and have grown up- say 21/22 years then you can look for a girl to marry. but if you under age, i mean if you a student and marriage is not possilbe at this juncture, then you should try to shift your focus from such feeilngs and desires to your studies/your career, in improving yourself as Muslim. Dont listen to satan, he is trying to astray you, believe me, if you focus on improving yourself in terms of Islam and career (or studies) and you do not let yourself be a victim of Satan, then you insha-allah will have best in life. you will surely get a good girl as life partner. Just trust Allah and carry on.

I wish you all good luck. May Allah (swt) guide us all. ameen.

    your sister.

      The importance of prayer

Prayer in Islam has a great importance, this can proved by the following:

1- It is the second element of Islam.

2- It is the first thing to be asked about on the day of resurrection , if prayer is accepted then all man’s work will be accepted and if it is not accepted all his work will not be accepted either.

3- It is a distinguishing sign for pious (devoted) believers as Allah says: “and perform prayer “( surat Al-Bakkara/ verse 3).

4- This who preserves prayer preserves his religion, and this who abandons it loses his religion.

5- Islam is in man’s heart as far as prayer is in his heart and his share in Islam equals his share of prayer.

6- It is a sign of loving Allah and appreciating His Blessings.

7- Allah The Almighty ordered us to preserve it whether we are traveling or staying, during war and peace and whether we are ill or healthy.

8- Texts declare that who abandons prayer is a disbeliever (an atheist). Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said “what lies between a man and atheism is abandoning prayer “(Musli

“(Muslim accounts) and said “prayer is the commitment between us, who abandons it disbelieves - becomes a disbeliever or becomes an atheist – (Ahmad and people of norms “sunan” account). When this who abandons prayer dies he is considered an atheist, he is not washed nor enshrouded, no one prays for him, he is not buried in Muslims’ graves, his relatives do not inherit from him and his money goes to beit al-mal (where the money of Muslim states is kept) in addition to other similar provisions that apply to those who abandon prayer.

  6. AOA,

You managed to locate this website for advice, therefore why not use the internet to find guidance on how to pray? Don't be afraid to ask for help as no one sincere would judge you but be happy to help you. There are millions of reverts who have no prior knowledge of Arabic yet make it their absolute priority to learn how to perform Salah.

As for your sexual urges, you need to learn to pray as this will remind you not to indulge in anything unlawful. As already advised get married if you can maintain a wife or else begin an action plan of self improvement and prepare for eventually being married. Basically keep yourself busy and there'll be no time for this sort of wrongdoing.
