Dua for starting family? Recommended way to conceive?
Question:
Asslamualaikum,
I am married and recently started discussing starting a family with my husband. We've received all sorts of health tips but unfortunately not much Islamic advice. I'd like to know of any advice from Qurán or Sunnah about starting a family, duas to make for healthy pious children etc... Also is there a recommended way to concieve? We naturally want to do things correctly so that the pregnancy is easy and our children blessed.

There are many things you can do to help to conceive a child. First and foremost, it is important that you and your husband are good, practicing Muslims, because this is the foundation of the family and will help you to be in the right physical and emotional state for conceiving. You should both be observing the five daily prayers, fasting, and giving zakah according to your ability. Your income and that of your husband's should be from what is permissible, and not from the haraam, such as interest, or the sale of alcohol or pork.
As for the du'as, it is sunnah to recite the following du'a before engaging in marital intercourse:
Bismi Llah(i), Allahumma jannibna sh-shaytana wa jannibi sh-shaytana ma razaqtana.
In the name of AllÄh. O Allah, protect us from Satan and keep Satan away from the children You grant us. (Bukhari)
As far as specific du'as for conceiving, there is no "magic bullet" du'a, of course, but here are some beneficial supplications from the Holy Qur'an:
"Rabbi la tadharni faradan wa anta khayru al-warithin."
(My Lord! Leave me not solitary (childless though) You are the best of inheritors.)" (Al-Anbiya 89)
"Rabbi hab li min ladunka dhurriyyatan tayyibah innaka sami`ud du`a' (My Lord! Grant me from You upright offspring, for You hear all prayers)" (Al `Imran 38)
Recite these du'as frequently, and also make a habit of remembering Allah throughout your day with "subhanAllah" "alhamdulillah", and "Allahu akbar" and other authentic du'as.
There are also some "worldy" things you can do to increase the chance of conception. The first is to enjoy marital intimacy frequently. A woman is only fertile for a few days out of the month, so if you are intimate often, you have a better chance to conceive. You can purchase ovulation prediction kits (which use your body's temperature to determine when you might be most fertile) and you can keep track of your menstrual cycle to determine your fertile times. Also, RELAX! Marital intimacy should be enjoyable for its own sake, and if you are enjoying one another and not stressing over "having" to get pregnant, you will actually increase your chances, as stress hormones can interfere with pregnancy. There are many stories about women who finally got pregnant after they "gave up" trying and just resigned themselves to not having children.
I highly recommend this book for all couples trying to conceive: How to Get Pregnant with the New Technology by Sherman J. Silber. Although the book is a resource for people experiencing difficulty in getting pregnant, it has a wealth of information on the men's and women's reproductive cycles and practical tips as well.
Make sure also that you are not doing anything that will harm your health. If either of you smokes, stop now. This includes cigarettes, cigars, and the Arabic "hookah" or water pipe. The toxins from tobacco products can badly affect the man's sperm, damaging it and leading to infertility and potential defects in the fetus. Eat good healthy food, avoid processed foods, and maintain a healthy body weight. Exercise moderately. You should be taking a good woman's multivitamin and extra folic acid to avoid a specific birth defect. There are vegetarian vitamins available online or in health food stores that do not contain gelatin or other questionable or haraam ingredients.
As you see, there is a lot you can do to give yourself the best chance of conceiving. One thing to caution you about: you might receive superstitious advice from family members. One might tell you to wear a necklace with a blue stone around your neck, or do something that has been handed down in the family. Avoid this non-Islamic advice and hold to the Qur'an and Sunnah. InshAllah, you will be blessed with a child who will be a pious believer and a coolness for your eyes.

Sister Noorah, jazak Allah khayr. I'm impressed with the comprehensive and intelligent advice you are giving here, ma-sha-Allah.
Assamalaikum va-rahmatullahi va-barkatahu
i have married before two years but till now am unable to conceive i have PCOD problem and taking treatment but its not working out properly am working i doesnt get time to visit doctor regularly so,suggest me some prayers or any roza which will help me to concieve i know allah will fullfill my desire but still i need the help from your side
Walaikumsalaam Haani,
You are making a calculated choice not to go to the doctors; maybe you are busy at work, but you need medical attention, right?? So you need to make an extra EFFORT? Most employers should allow time off for medical treatment.
Allah will help you, when you try to help yourself. So make the effort by getting your full medical treatment and ask Allah to make your efforts fruitful by making dua.
Effort and dua go hand in hand.
Best Wishes, - 'May Allah grant you with a spouse and offspring who are the comfort of your eyes and may you lead the righteous.' Aameen.

Try to relax and feel the joy that you are looking for a baby, there is a post made by Wael in Islamic Sunrays, it is under the label of Inner Peace and it is called: Islamic Meditation for Relaxation and Spiritual Comfort, the link is:

For every woman out there, looking to conceive, its not just duas you need, you might need medical attention.first thing to do is BOTH need to get tested, husband and wife. Then if after ONE year of trying you don't conceive, you seek fertility treatment. Dua and medicine go hand in hand, but if sumone has PCOs , u need medical help. Seek Allah's help and also your gyn. Goodluck. May Allah bless you all with healthy children . Ameen!
very nice feeling in respect of Islamic view
Salaam alaykum Sisters.
Thos of you who have Pcos please try a natural hormone regulater called Agnus castus (chaste berry) Try the liquid form 40 drops every morning. You can not take this if you are on any fertility treatment as this will not work.
And do 100 times in sajdah Ayat Karima ( Laillaha Illa Anta subhanaka ini kuntu manazzalamin) for 40 days inshallah you will consive. I did this and I have consived for 2nd time. I was told I had problems, try natural treatment beore you go for fertility treatment. Do google the herb I wote you will hear many amazing stories. Alhamdulillah It helped me.
Another tip which really does do wonders is drink pure rose water mixed with your water every day, as this make your utreus strong and get it ready for implantation. I have tried all this in both pregnances.fennal aslo help alot. We can do what we can but the rest is in Allahs hands.
JAK
Take care

Sister Ayesha,
I had also cyst on right ovary almost 5cm. I was given some pills and it disappeared after 2months, the month just after I got pregnant. I discovered the cyst because I had irregular periods. So ovary cysts are cause of imbalance of hormones and without normal period you can't have regular ovulation. I think you need to visit a good gynecologist. Don't worry, you are not infertile, this is just cause temporary infertility. But in order to improve your situation, avoid sugar and u should do regular physical activity as the ovary cyst are linked to insulin resistance. My mother also had ovary cysts, but she got 6 kids. Wish you all best.
Salaam,
l pray to Allah the Merciful to grant all women children, I have had IVF treatment twice with no luck, Doctors state thier is nothing wrong with my husband and I, when I feel down and upset which is very often, i remeber that Allah the Merciful has said in the Quran , " No soul shall carry a burdan greater than they are capable of carrying", We need to remebr that at our lowest times such as when our period has statertd and we relise we are not pregnant it is Allah's (swt) mercy that allows us to carry on, at all times we should thank him and pray to him,
Remember Allah (swt) has said every prayer is answered, either stright away, or at a later more convienant time, or we are offered something much better in the hereafter, pls sisters keep me in your prayers at all times and InshaAllah we shall all have children soon,
Aameen to your heartfelt dua dear Sister. May Allah fulfil your desire for motherhood soon and may it be a blessing for you in this life and the next, aameen.

Salaam Brother,
I pray Allah swt gives yourself and your wife patience in this testing time, and InshaAllah you will soon blessed with a healthy child, to him we belong and to him we will all no doubt return,
your wife will need you to support her right now and please make that a priorty, remebr you have married her in Allahs swt name and promised in Allahs swt name to protect her, please dont be offended by what i say i say this through expereince, in times of distress we tend to blame each other and it is easy for a husband to blame his wife for a miscarrage as she is the one carrying the baby, you need to support and be there for one another and remmebr Allah the Merciful has started in the Holy Quran, that after every distress he gives us ease, trust in Allah swt and nothing is impossible, remebr he is closer to us than our jugular vein,
i will InshaAllah keep you and your wife in my dua and please keep me in ours,
Salam to my fellow sisters and brothers in Islam.
I too have been trying to conceive for three years now. I have done some reading and have also asked a few of my close Friends on how I can Dua to strengthen my iman. Do make the effort to do some research on the influential women in islam who did not bear any kids but yet remain no less than a perfect woman.
- read the yasin every day to be closer to Allah
- fast for seven days and say the names of Allah 'ya baari', 'ya khaliq' and 'ya musawwir' before breaking your fast. InsyaAllah Allah will bless our wombs with righteous children
- Do yoga to help your body regulate blood flow
- drink a lot of water. Regard our womb as soil. The more water it has the more fertile it is
InsyaAllah. Allah will help us if we help ourselves first. I too will try to do the above in the hope where my body system will readjust itself if I try to be healthier both physically and spiritually.
Hamidah,
This is a good idea. All so often we hear about influential Muslim women and their role as Mothers, but I have never heard about the other side, i.e. how did Aisha(ra) feel upon never having had children? I am sure she must have felt the absence, but are there any authentic documented writings on this subject? I wonder. If you do find anything, please let us know here insha'Allah.

Better you should thank Allah for is blessing to you. Ready all the comments sisters are looking for a child even one you're there looking for a baby boy. My Huma our prophet says whatever have 3 girls and teach them until they get married that person Allah swt will grant he or she paradise sister asked Allah swt to give you as he wishes because some of us we don't have even one i had one but she passed way 6 month ago
Hi Sister,
InshaAllah you will be blessed with a son soon, however always remebr that you have been blessed twice with your girls, the Prophet pbuh family runs through his daughter Fatima, Allah swt in his knowlege took the Prophets son in his childhood, the prophet would pray to Allah not the leave him abtar ( a animal with out a tail) i.e childless, Surat Kauser was releveled from heaven in reply to the prophets pray, Allah could hav easily blessed the prophet with a son but he choose to give him a daughter, so while you pray remeber a healthy child is more important than the babies sex and many of us on the forum would do anything to be in your shoes and be blessed with 2 girls,

Salam Alaikum,
Allhumduliliah I found i am pregnant after being married for 17 months, I had the same heart braking and tears every month, After a lot of reading I started taking Folic acid, plus evening primrose oil and flaxseed oil capsules gelatien free, i would take four a day of EP/OIL and 1 of F/OIL until ovulation and also started taking mucus cough medicine 3 times a day until ovulation too...
The reason for taking these were purely to generate cervical mucus which is really important as this carries the sperm to the egg.. after looking closely every month and checking for mucus i found some month was very little, but this month believe there was plenty and egg white which also meaning your ovulating.
I also constantly read Ya musaverro, Ya barrio, ya khaliqo, so much that i would wake up reading it..
Allah swt arp sub ko naik or healthy baby deh,,, inshaAllah.. pls email me on (Email add deleted by Editor) if you have any questions.

Salam to all,
One of the most wonderful things of the net, is the fact that we realized 'we are not alone'. Though we cannot put a face to each other. We all have one thing in common and that is the will to succeed against all odds:-). It is easy to loose hope in this situation but I really think that we will all be blessed, because Allah made us this promise in Qur'an. Worship me and I will taketh care of all things'
Furthermore, for the sisters who have been diagnosed with cysts, pocs amongst other things, I wish to tell you about natural ways to reinstate your health. Please if you're interested in the information, send me an email, I will be happy to pass the information/knowledge inshallah :-).
Love

I have been married from the last 5 years and trying hard to conceive bt i guess i am the one responsible and Allah is annoyed with me as in the beginning yrs i gt 2 abortions done, those were my worst mistakes and i regret them the most. After a lot of Duas and istakfar,Allah responded and 4 weeks bk my result gt positive.I cant explain how thankful and happy we both were till last week when i started bleeding and had a miscarriage.Allah is great and gave both of us a lot of sabr which we never expected.we think its our trial from Allah and insaAllah He will grant us a child.
I felt like commenting because i wanted people to read that dont ever interfere with Allahs will; take everything as His rehmat. He is most merciful and most powerful.

Salam. I have been married for 1 year and I am 19 yrs old and my husband is 31. I want to be pregnant but everyone keeps bothering me saying I am too young, or I will regret it once I have it and so on.. They also say that if I keep thinking about it it won't happen. This really aggravates me because they think that I always think about it 24/7 but I don't.. I will think just for a minute it so, but I don't know what to do..
Can you give me advice please.. Jazak Allahu Khair.
Wa alaikum Assalamualaikum sister,
I would like to say that don't bother or come in stress for others words. They say what they feel, but the thing is you should think what u feel n act towards it. U r not too younger for being a mother..Alhamdulillah whenever I see my sisters with her kids I feel so eager n emotional that when Allah SWT will grant me pious children.
The Beloved Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam said, “Fatima is the joy of my heart, and her sons are the fruit of my soul.”
We are never young to extend our ummah .
May allah grant us pious children and grant ummat-e-muslimah to jannah.
zajakallah khair..

A man complained to Al-Hasan about a drought, and he said to him: “Pray to Allah for forgiveness.”
Another man complained to him of poverty and he said to him: “Pray to Allah to forgive you.”
Another man said to him: “Pray to Allah to bless me with a child.” He said: “Pray to Allah for forgiveness.”
Another complained to him that his garden was dry. He said to him: “Pray to Allah for forgiveness.”
He was asked about it and he said: “This is not my personal opinion, for Allah says in Surah Nooh (interpretation of the meaning): ‘Ask forgiveness from your Lord, verily, He is Oft Forgiving; He will send rain to you in abundance. And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers.” Tafseer Al-Qurtubi (18/301-302)
One of the narrators of a Hadith was asked about the manner in which forgiveness is to be sought to which he answered: "The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) used to say: `Astaghfirullah! Astaghfirullah! (I beseech Allah for forgiveness, I beseech Allah for forgiveness)’.” [Sahih Muslim]
Salam,
I have no periods. I hade my 1st cycle when I was 13yrs and my 2nd cycle when I was 14yrs. After this I have never had a period. I went to docs and after bloods they said nothing to worry about. Then I got married and I have been trying to get pregnant since 2 n half yrs. I went to docs again and they referred me to hospital and they said my estrogen level is very low and that is the reason why I can't become pregnant.
Sister I really need your help, do you think there will be some medicine or treatment that I can do?
Dear Halima,
Where do you live? It sounds like you may have premature ovarian failure, or early menopause. But if it is due to PCOS, then metformin or even surgery might help. You need to go to a fertility specialist - if your ovaries are working, then the doctor might recommend IVF treatments. But if in fact you are experiencing premature ovarian failure, then adoption may be your only answer, unless you are open to egg donation or surrogacy.
assalamu aleykum m married before 2 yrs n i had pcod n now m taking a treatment plz pray for me dat i become a mum soon
Kindly note that definitely we have wronged in some way , & I have seems other who completely don want to take medicine!! I just want everything to happen on it own , so I hope all sister would look at your health & take necessary medication & most importantly pls if you can go & perform. UMRAH first , completely trust Allah , insha Allah he will bless us all with children 🙂
My marriage has completed 15 years but still i m childless. My husband and me loves each other and he never say anything to me for child. Assalam olaikum how are you I am married four years ago but still I dont have baby and my one ovarie one side is block and I have endometriosis so plz give me very good wazifa thank you
I am sorry that you are having trouble concieving. May Allah swt grant you a baby, Ameen.
I do want to say that there is no such thing as wazifa or some magic words you can repeat so that you get what you want--simply make du'a to Allah swt and also go and see a doctor.
As sister Saba said above, simply make du'a to Allah swt and also go and see a doctor. However (as there is no such thing as wazifa or magic words), Allah Has given us an example of making du'a in such manner, by revealing to us the story of Prophet Zechariah (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam), and He said;
So there is no harm when you say the du'a of Prophet Zechariah (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) as much as you can, or make du'a in your own way, inshaAllah.
Please do not forget the best hours for acceptance of du'as.
Please follow the site below for best places and times where du’as are answered.
http://islamqa.info/en/22438
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala grant you a righteous baby, sooner. Ameen.
You can try laparscopy to clear your endometriosis. Dua will help but if you have a medical condition preventing you from getting pregnant, dua won't make it disappear like magic. You have to take steps to get the treatment you need.
AOA
I am trying to get pregnant Please tell any Dua.Alhamduillah I have two kids and i want third baby i had miscarriage two years back.?
I'm married before 2 years,I'm trying to conceive pls dua for me..
I have two girls now in need of a boy somebody told me that if i recite rabbi habli min ladunka zurriyatan... 's tasbi daily after zohar namaz than i will have a baby boy is it true
Dua is not a magic spell. Allah may give you what you ask, or not. He may give you something better, or give you barakah in the aakhirah instead. Keep in mind that the one who raises girls with devotion is promised Jannah. Girls bring blessings of their own.

3.5 years. I have PCOS. Husband has motility issues. 8-10 medicated cycles, one failed IUI and one failed IVF - we are still chidless.
I pay zakat, help the needy, offer salat, recite Quraan and the ayats you told about in the post but still we are not blessed...
I'm losing hope now what do you suggest for me...sabar is something I practice daily but when I see women holding their babies my heart just dies...
Have you considered adoption? There are so many lonely children in the world who need a family. It's an act of great merit in Islam to care for an orphan.
Wael

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I have found that adoption in Islam is not allowed because once the child grows up they become na-mehram to parents of the opposite gender. Is this true? This is one of the reasons we have not considered adoption. also my husband is right now not ready to be a father through adoption and I don't feel it's fair to adopt a child halfheartedly when we cannot show them the love they deserve
If you're personally not ready for adoption that's up to you. But it is most certainly allowed and encouraged in Islam. The Prophet (sws) once put his fingers together and said, "Whoever supports an orphan from among his own or any other family, he will be as close to me in Heaven as these fingers are close to each other." The Prophet (sws) himself adopted and cared for Zaid ibn Harithah.
The Quran also encourages caring for orphans. The only thing is that adoption in Islam is not like the Western model. The child keeps his own family name, inherits from his biological relatives (not the adoptive parents), and yes he is not mahrem to the women in the family (unless he is nursed by the mother as a baby).

Thank you so much for such a satisfactory answer. If I adopt an orphan from an orphanage, it is likely that such a child may have no family name and no link to his biological family. So in such a situation, if we give that child our name and raise them as our own child - will that be allowed?
I do not have sufficient knowledge to answer this. It seems to me that even children in an orphanage will usually know the name of at least one parent. If not, then perhaps the child could be named according to his tribe or place of origin. The Western model is to completely disguise the child's biological origin. Islam takes the opposite approach, as Islam wishes to maintain the ties of kinship for reasons of inheritance, marriage, etc.

I need Allah's help urgently
I have just been through a terrible surgery
and the doctor had no choice but to take my womb out .I am so sad and scared now because my husband and I do not have kids yet.
And we pray to Allah to have mercy and show us HIS power and greatness by giving us children .
Kindly make duas for us cus With Allah everything is Possible.
May Allah bless you all.
Nafs, you should consider adoption. There are many poor children who need homes, and it is a good deed in Islam to care for them.

kindly when you referring verses of HOLY QURAN it must be in arabic pattern in english wording reader making mistakes and with reciting its meaning also changed. so think before to write about verses.
Im married for 2year n 4mnths im trying to conceive I have irregular periods please make dua for me to get pregnant fast
Allah is the one that gives so ask him alone. Allah is The Creator, The Maker, The Fashioner who shapes all forms and appearences. Recite ya Khaliqu ya Bariu ya Musawwiru 313 times each day and inshallah Allah will grant you children.
Also recite
surah Saffat; 37: 100
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنْ الصَّالِحِينَ Rabbi-habli minas-saliheen (O my Lord! Grant me a Righteous (son)).
surah al’ Imran; 3: 38
O my Lord! Bestow upon me out of your grace the gift of goodly offspring for you indeed are the hearer of prayers).
Ayat-e-Kareema:
لاَّ إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ أَنتَ سُبْحَـنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّـلِمِينَ
Translation: “…There is none worthy of worship besides You. Glorified are You. Surely I am from the wrongdoers.” (21:87)
that was recited by Hazrat Yunus AS inside the belly of the fish/whale is described in Surah Al-Anbiya (21) verses 87 and 88 as follows: “And remember Zun-nun, when he departed in wrath: He imagined that We had no power over him! But he cried through the depths of darkness, There is no god but thou: glory to thee: I was indeed wrong! So We listened to him: and delivered him from distress: and thus do We deliver those who have faith.”[21: 87-88]
Word of Caution: Many people recite incorrectly as “Inni kuntum” instead of “Inni kuntu”.
Supporting Hadiths:
There are quite a few hadiths in which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has spoken about the significance of Aya-e-Kareema and encouraged the Muslims to recite this ayah as well. In one of the hadiths, Prophet (PBUH) said:
“I know words that will cause Allah to remove one’s distress. These are the words (of supplication) of my brother Yonus (AS).” (Tirmidhi)
Therefore, the hadith supports the fact that if a Muslim is in some kind of distress or problem and wants to get free from it, then the recitation of Ayat-e-Kareema is surely something that can benefit the person. The same idea is presented by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in another hadith in the following way:
“The supplication made by the Companion of the Fish (Prophet Yunus) in the belly of the fish was (Ayat-e-Kareema). If any Muslim supplicates in these words, his supplication will be accepted/responded to.” (Tirmidhi)
Therefore, if a Muslim wishes to get relief from any distress or wants anything to be accepted from Allah Almighty, then the excessive recitation of Ayat-e-Kareema is one of the best ways of doing so.
Jazhakallah khair sister
In sha allah may allah shower all his blessings upon us

I'm 44, 2 baby girls, one 10 and other 8 years old. Ttc for another siblings for my daughters. I'm trying from 2 years bcos my husband was not agree for 3rd child.
I went to doc for ask any help but she refused and aggressively told me I can't conceieve now b cos my age factor . I concieved last year but on 9th week baby's heart beat suddenly stopped.
I'm hopeless from doctors. Can't go anywhere just trying own myself and praying.
I'm using vitex extract my cycle is now 28, I ovulate on 14 cd. I checked my fsh with strips that shows light line with control line.
Can I take vitex if I get healthy pragnency InshaAllah. I'm scared, b cos I don't want lose my baby...and extremely want it.
Can I read ayatey kareema 125000 or unlimited. Please sister help me. I'm alone here.
Thanks
Sincerely
Sister, I think you need to face reality. At 44, any pregnancy would be risky, both to you and the fetus. Allah has blessed you with two children. Also, your husband does not want a third child. Perhaps you should accept what you have and be grateful.

I have an ovary cyst and I missed my periods my hubby I so sad I unable to concive
Dear Fathima
You should read surah maryam daily also you should start reading one tasbeeh daily of YA Musawiru YA Bariu after asr salah
Before starting intercourse both u nd ur hubby should offer wudu and read
بِسْمِ اللهِ اللَّهُمَّ جَنِّبْنَا الشَّيْطَانَ ، وَجَنِّبِ الشَّيْطَانَ مَا رَزَقْـتَنَا
Also read dua e zakrirya
'Rabbi laa tadharni fardan wa anta khayr ul-waaritheen''
(O my Lord! Leave me not single (childless), though You are the Best of the inheritors)
Also this one
Rabbi hab li min ladunka dhurriyyatan tayyibatan innaka samee’ al-du’aa’
(O my Lord! Grant me from You a good offspring. You are indeed the All-Hearer of invocation)
These are duas that you can read for conceiving
Tips for conceiving
You need to follow your ovulation days every cycle and should have intercourse mainly on those days when you have ovulated
I feel so sorry for all the sisters struggling to conceive, infertility is such a difficult thing to deal with.
Along with the Dua's posted above, one could try opk's I think the sister made a typo, they measure the lutenizing hormone in a woman's urine which is a hormone the body releases 12 to 36 hours before ovulation. Thes best times to try for a baby are the two days before ovulation the day of and the day after ovulation, so as soon as the test turns positive one should make it a point to try in those following days. Some doctors suggest trying every other day from the time the period is over for good measure. You can find really cheap ones online that work just as well as the expensive ones in stores so I recommend looking into those.
As for the temperature, I think what the sister was referring to is a basal body thermometer which is used to confirm ovulation. The reason some women use this along with the opk's is because the body can release lutenizing hormone and still fail to release an egg. The basal body temperature is taken with a specific thermometer after at least four hours of solid undisturbed sleep preferably at the same time every morning before you get up or start moving since this raises your body temperature. How it works is before ovulation your temperatures remain pretty low, the day you ovulate your body temperature will dip even lower and the next day the temperature will spike and remain really high for at least three days. Generally if you ovulated they'll stay high until menstraution or if you're pregnant they'll remain high until you have the baby. The day your menstruation returns your temperature will once again dip really low. You would have to record the temperature every morning with an app such as the "fertility friend app" in order to track the patterns in your temperature. This method is more for confirmation that you ovulated since it won't tell you anything until after the fact. It can be helpful in getting to know your body and also you'll know if you don't ovulate that there is a real issue, but it's not necessary.
Another sign of ovulation is by looking at the discharge of a woman, If a woman lacks a certain type of discharge this can hinder chances of conceiving because the sperm need it in order to stay alive in the reproductive track. I won't go into detail about it because it is a little TMI but if a woman is lacking in this discharge she can try products such as "fertilaid lube" which mimics this natural discharge and is formulated to help sperm survive.
Women who are trying to conceive should start taking prenatal vitamins, this doesn't increase fertility but it helps with the health of baby once conceived, also folic acid and the B-vitamins help a lot in reproductive health.
There are many herbs and supplements women try to conceive, they may strengthen the woman's egg, increase the health of the uterine lining, or regulate the cycles, but one should be careful when trying different medicines because they may actually mess up your cycles especially if they are already regular. If your cycle is irregular than looking into supplements like soy isoflavones or vitex or red raspberry leaf can be helpful, but I'd say be careful what you put in your body.
Also exercise for both partners and eating a healthy balanced diet helps a lot. If either of you is too overweight or too underweight this can affect fertility, it's not that big a deal unless one of you is severely obese or severely anorexic so don't stress too much about but small changes in the diet can help. For women it helps to have a little healthy weight. So don't be scared of those healthy fats and healthy carbs and lean protein.
Women tend to beat themselves up for infertility but the problem can be from the man too. There are supplements and vitamins the man can take to increase his fertility as well. if you go over a year and the both of you are seemingly healthy, there's no shame in getting help from a doctor.
And of course Allah knows best, in the end it's all up to Allah who has a child and who doesn't so make worshipping Allah, praying your salat on time, frequently making dua and thikr a priority. It may not happen as fast or in the time you want, but remember Allah is the best of all planners, and do not despair in the mercy of Allah, inshallah you are all blessed with healthy children.
Assalaamualekum was rahmatullah wa barkatahu
