Dua’ for one who is sick

Muslim boy and father saying dua

Muslim boy and father saying dua

What dua' can one say for a person who is sick? For example, a parent for a sick child? Or for any family member or friend who is ill? Or even a dua' for a sick person to say for himself?

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has taught us things in such cases in which there is healing and a lessening of sickness, as well as reward. That is part of Allah s mercy towards this blessed ummah and the Prophet's care for it. He is the one whom Allah described as (interpretation of the meaning):

Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger (Muhammad saws) from amongst yourselves. It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty. He is anxious over you; for the believers (he is) full of pity, kind, and merciful. [al-Tawbah 9:128]

Among the things that he taught us are the following:

1 ‒ Reciting al-Faatihah

It was narrated from Abu Sa eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah beupon him) described Soorat al-Faatihah as a ruqyah, and he approved of the Sahaabi who recited it as a ruqyah for the one who had been stung by a scorpion.

- Al-Bukhaari (2156) and Muslim (2201).

Ibn al-Qayyim said about reciting Soorat al-Faatihah:

"There was a time when I fell sick in Makkah, and I could not find a doctor or any medicine, so I treated myself by reciting it. I would take some Zamzam water and recite it over it several times, then drink it. I recovered fully by these means, then I began to do that whenever I felt alot of pain, and I benefited greatly from it."

- Zaad al-Ma aad (4/164).

2. "Lord of the Magnificent Throne"

The following dua' is given in "Fortress of the Muslim", to be recited for one who is ill:

Dua for sickness and ill health

Dua for sickness and ill health

Transliteration:  'As'alullaahal-'Adheema Rabbal-'Arshil-'Adheemi 'an yashfiyaka.

Meaning: I ask Almighty Allah , Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to make you well. (Recite seven times in Arabic)

Reference: At-Tirmithi, Abu Dawud. See also Al-Albani, Sahih At-Tirmithi 2/210 and Sahihul-Jami' As-Saghir 5/180.

3 ‒ "You are the Healer"

It was narrated from Aa'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when any of us fell sick, the Messenger of Allah (peaceand blessings of Allah be upon him) would wipe him with his right hand then say: "Adhhib il-ba's, Rabbi l-naas washfi anta al-Shaafi laa shifaa ailla shifaa uka shifaa an laa yughaadir saqaman. (Remove the harm, O Lord of humankind and heal him, for You are the Healer and there is no healing except Your healing, with a healing which does not leave any disease behind)."

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5675) and Muslim (2191).

4 ‒ Al Mu'awidhatayn (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Naas)

It was narrated that Aa'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "If one of his family fell sick, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would blow over him and recite al-Mu'awwidhaat. When he fell sick with his final illness, I started to blow over him and wipe him with his own hand, because it was more blessed than my hand."

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5735) and Muslim (2192).

5 ‒ Bismillah and dua'

It was narrated from Uthmaan ibn Abi l- Aas al-Thaqafi that he complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about some pain that he had felt in his body since he became Muslim. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: "Put your hand on the part of your body that hurts and say: 'Bismillaah' (in the name of Allah) three times, then say seven times: 'I seek refuge in Allah and His Power from the evil of what I find and I fear.'"

- Narrated by Muslim (2202).

6 ‒ "In the Name of Allah I perform ruqyah"

It was narrated from Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that Jibreel came to the Prophet (pbuh) and said: "O Muhammad, are you sick?" He said: "Yes." He said: "In the name of Allah I perform ruqyah foryou, from everything that is harming you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye may Allah heal you, in the name of Allah I perform ruqyah for you."

- Narrated by Muslim (2186).

7. ‒ "Allah Who is in heaven"

It was narrated that Abul-Darda (may Allaah be pleasedwith him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings ofAllaah be upon him) say: "Whoever among you suffers some sickness, or his brother suffers some sickness, let him say: 'Our Lord Allah Who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your will is done in heaven and on earth; as Your mercy is in heaven, bestow it upon the earth. Forgive us our sins. You are the Lord of the good. Send down Your mercy and healing upon this pain'; and he will be healed."

- Narrated by Abu Dawood (3892); classed as saheeh by al-Haakim in al-Mustadrak (4/243) and as hasan by IbnTaymiyah in Majmoo al-Fataawa (3/139).7

It was narrated from Ibn Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (pbuh) said: "The one who visits a sick person who is not dying, and says seven times in his presence, 'I ask Allah the Almighty, the Lord of the Mighty Throne, to heal you', Allah will heal him from that sickness."

- Narrated byAbu Dawood (3106); classed as saheeh by al-Nawawi in al-Adhkaar (p.180) and by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

While reciting these ruqyahs over someone, for example your sick child, you should wipe your hand over his face, chest and stomach, as the Prophet (pbuh) used to do, and you should sit near your child's head so that you will be breathing over him as you recite the page. There is nothing wrong with blowing lightly onto his face with a little saliva while doing that.

Ibn al-Qayyim said: "The ruqyah comes from the heart and mouth of the one who is reciting ruqyah, so if it is accompanied with some of his saliva and breath, that will have a stronger effect." - Zaad al-Ma aad (4/164).

Over and above all that there must be sincerity towards Allah in the du'aa , and sincere turning to Him and humility before Him, and one should seek out the times when prayers are answered, for when a person raises his hand to Allah in du'aa, Allah is reluctant that the person should remain empty-handed. Do not be hasty in seeking a response, for Allah may delay the answer for a reason that is known to Him, so you should be patient and have certain faith. Remember that the Prophet (pbuh) said: "Call upon Allah when you are certain of receiving a response, and remember that Allah does not answer a du'aa that comes from a heedless heart."

Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (3479);classed as hasan by al-Shawkaani in Tuhfat al-Shaakireen (68) and byal-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (594).

      • It is not inshAllah.
        It is in''sha''Allah...........

        • Does it really matter, Umer? It's not an English word in any case. Transliteration varies from one person to the next. Let's focus on things that matter.

          • thats a nice thing to say
my sister will fight strait away

          • We should not write it as "InshaAllah" or "Inshallah" because it means "Create Allah" (Naozobil lah). Whether arabic or english.. please make sure you write it properly as In Shaa Allah" (In 3 seperate words). This means "If Allah Wills".

        • Assalamwalaikum dear Sisters and Brothers

      • dunya/dana, I'm sorry to hear about your mother. If the doctor that she visits is not checking on her properly or not taking her seriously, then she should see a different doctor. Do her parents know about her situation? Does she have any brothers or sisters?

Here is a dua' you can recite:

"Remove the harm, O Lord of humankind and heal her, for You are the Healer and there is no healing except Your healing, with a healing which does not leave any disease behind."

Recite it every day. And please encourage your mom to get proper medical care.

  2. Wot if it's a rare disorder..your very young..unmarried..require medication daily..your body can't retain water so your drinking 10 litres of fluid daily if you don't take the medication..u use the bathroom 48 times in 24hours (in 8 hours ur made to wake up 16 times to use the bathroom) doctors say it's incurable and u wonder wot wrong must of you done to deserve such a punishment? Iv never been out with a guy if that's wot ur thinking

    • Khan, I'm sorry to hear about your illness. But illness is not a punishment from Allah. It is a test, and a means by which we are purified, and our sins are forgiven.

See this post on my IslamicSunrays.com blog: "The Hidden Blessings of Illness and Hardship".

Be patient, and do not despair or be resentful of Allah. Perhaps in the future there will be a cure for your condition, as medicine is advancing every day Insha'Allah.

          • Salam,

I am like a 12 year old girl and we are 6 kids. I am the second oldest. Please I am asking in the kindest way to pray for my dad. I have tried everything, I do see some changes, but I just want him to get out of bed, and be with us again. He got a back operation like in 2007, and then in 2012 he fell on the ice, and now in 2013 it affected him,and he is gonna get 6 needled on his back on August 19th. And then his back hurt so much that it affected his right leg. Then he went to the hospital after aftari like a week ago, and here where I live, you have to walk alot from your car to the door, so as the prophet said, we have to sabar, even though it puts u in pain, he WALKED all the way there. And when he went to the doctor, she was like if you can walk all the way here then I don't believe that you are sick, Then he walked back to his car, and was about to leave, but a man stopped him because he forgot to pay the parking ticket, and you have to pay it in cash, but he only had debet so he walked all the way back to the hospital and exchaged it for cash, and arrived home like at 4 at night, and of course I, my mom and siblings wern't sleeping. And above that we got in a car accident, when it was not even our fault, so I am not sure if we have to pay for the damages. My dad doesn't have a job, but thank to Allah SWT, we have everything we need, we donate money to the needy, and in return Allah is providing us with everything. MY dad said last night "I have never worried about anything, thanks to Allah" and I am glad. But all I am asking is that you please pray and make duaas for him. We live in a non-muslim country so sometimes they might do alittle harshness with us, but as the mighty god said, we have to sabar...anywways jazakAllah, and and hope you do so. I am really great that there are so many people like you where I can reach help from, form my home 🙂

            JazakAllah 🙂

please do the following for this or any hajet

darood ...11 times i mean salawat to prophet..any will do
ya sheikh abdul qadir jilani shey in lil lah...1000 times
      darood or salawat 11 times....

do this every night for 3 nights keeping ur problem in ur mind

in ur condition if u cant do vudu or abolition dont worry. just do it in what ever state you are. when u read everything the sound must be so high that u can hear yourself.

hz sheikh abdul qadir jilani promised to help any muslimf if he asks him for help.

if in 3 nights u dont get well. wait one day and then do it again. keep on doing it with an interval of one day until u r well 100%. do not loose hope. if u can do salat , namaz 5 times a day plz do it aswell.

may allahs blessing be upon u

      • R Zafar,

Your comment has infuriated me as I am sick and tired of hearing such ignorance. Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani is DEAD. So what on heaven and earth makes you think that he can help any muslim if we just ask of him. And furthermore what is: "ya sheikh abdul qadir jilani shey in lil lah." Astagfirullah!

As Muslims, we worship only Allah and we ask for help only from Him as a Divine Being, not from someone who is dead. Even the Prophet(saw) never made any ridiculous promises as you claim Abdul Qadir Jilani did. And yet the Prophet(saw) was the best of mankind. Abdul Qadir Jilani was human like you and I. Now that he is dead, he cannot hear us or see us and he most certainly cannot help anyone. I am sure as his soul is in Barzakh, he is more worried about his own Hereafter, may Allah forgive him and grant him Jannah.

We as Muslims are distinguished by our clear worship of One Allah Alone. We are also distinguished because our Quran and Hadith are authentic and are the same as when revealed/spoken. There is no room for innovation and there is especially no room for the worship of so called saints and dead men. This is the mistake that the Christians made and they ended up wandering far from the truth.

Perhaps I should be more patient with you, but I find it very difficult to be with this matter as I hear of this type of worship amongst many Muslims in the indian subcontinent. Their stubborness in wanting to persist in believing this nonsense is more than frustrating. Please, please use your common sense! And follow the Quran and authentic Sunnah.

        • SisterZ is absolutely right. The essence of Islam is Tawhid, which is to worship only Allah, call only on Allah, obey only Allah, and not to ascribe any of Allah's attributes to the creation. If we pray to so-called dead "saints", then we are no different from the pre-Islamic Arabs who believed their idols could intercede for them with Allah; or the Catholics, who also pray to saints. We are Muslims: we stand apart from all such shirk and association of partners with Allah.

        • I couldn't agree with you more sister - well written reply where you raised a very stong, correct and important point about this disease of the hearts of many Muslims from the sub-continent.

May Allah guide us away from falsehood, innovations and errors instead towards the path of truth.

May Allah rward you and Allah knows best.

        • yelsam ilsanek, blessed is the tongue that speaks such beautiful words

        • As Salamu wa Alaikum...

I totally agree with you SisterZ..... Its totally Shirk, what r Zafar said..... Astagfirullah..

        • I totally agree with sisterZ point of view! We should only ask allah for anything!

          • Salam,

Same here, if we are true muslims, we only worship the oh mighty Allah SWT, that is wht you have to read when you become a muslim, the is 1 god and that is Allah.

        • Ma sha Allah!!!

        • You are so right:surah faatiha:'Iyya kana' budu wa iyya kanasstaeen':You alone do we worship, and You alone do we ask for help--the message is so cl ear and so simple to understand!!!

      • Aslaam o alikum! I hope Allah(swt) had already taken him a sisters problems but the solution u provided does this according to the sunnah of our holy prophet(pbuh)????? May Allah give all of us guidance

      • Hina, I know I am writing to you very late, but in sha Allah your father is doing well. May Allah ta'allah protect your whole family in order to get you do jannah. I pray in a wish to Allah saying everyone who is in need for help or anyone who appreciates the kindness of Allah to get rid of our sins very easily, is to be granted a blessing.

In sha Allah your family is in perfect condition, just remember, whenever you are in need for help, just pray for Allah or read the Quran for ableist five minutes and all your worries will hopefully go away.

        As salaamu alikum

  3. R Zafar,

This comment of yours alone shows your extreme lack of knowledge: "i have read almost all books about islam. well almost."

Furthermore you claim the following to be a hadith, which has left me speechless. It is completely absurd and I can find no proof for its authenticy: "we prophets are not dead but are alive in their graves to an extent that we make love with our wives in the graves."

What you are doing is called 'grave worshipping' and it is a very serious sin. But I will not argue with you because you seem to be completely set in your ways.

I shall leave you with the follow Ayah and Authentic Hadith:

Allah(swt) says in Surah Nahl, Ayahs 20 and 21: "And those they invoke other than Allah create nothing, and they [themselves] are created; They are, [in fact], dead, not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected".

Narrated by Ibn Abbas (ra), Abu Bakr said(ra): "If anyone amongst you used to worship Muhammad (saw) then Muhammad (saw) is dead, but if (anyone of) you used to worship Allah, then Allah is Alive and shall never die."

May Allah guide us to the truth,

  4. I love u Sister Z. The love of a brother to a sister. I find u one in a thousand enlightened sisters with knowledge in this world. May the Almighty guide u,ur relatives and all Muslims in the most straight path not the path of the Kuffar and those who went astray. May Allah give u more knowledge and wisdom to enlighten the Ummah.

  5. R. Zafar

what are saying is called Shirk, and we muslims are Ummah of Tawhid , I advise you to read about Islam, and say Astagfuralla because your spreading the shirk and Kufur among muslems here. I would like to thank sister Z for here comments , this is the real Tawhid .

  7. Asslamu alaikum Sister Zee. I am impressed by the dialogue on this sight especially your enlightening clarification based on the authentic Islamic text viz, the holy Koran, and Sunnah of our blessed and beloved prophet Muhammad (May Allah's eternal peace be upon him).

  8. Sister Z:

Masha-Allah n Jazakallahu Khair for such a good answer to that brother regarding shirk. Muslims from Pakistan, India or Bangal need to learn more about real ISLAM they have mixed local culture with Islam.
May Allah guide us with true teachings of Islam and we live and die being a good Muslim Ameen.

    Jazakallahu Khair

  9. Sister Z

    Salaam Alaikum

I was really really happy after reading your comments on Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani. Your comments were indeed very good and provided valuable explanation. I hope that many of our Muslim brothers and sisters like the ones above (Mr. XX) I wouldn't name him who still hold on the belief that dead men, saints and walis can help us in attaining something, be guided by ALLAH SWT and the authentic hadith and sunnah of our beloved Prophet PBUH INSHALLAH.

May ALLAH SWT guide us towards the right path, lest we shall all be among the unbelievers for surely illiteracy in Deen may bring a lot of harm, malpractices and innovations.

ALLAH SWT has already mentioned in the Quran that believers who wish to come to HIM should follow the path of the Holy Prophet PBUH and HE SWT has made Islam complete for us.

    JAZAKALLAH KHAIR
    ASALLAM ALAIKUM

  10. Asslamu-Alaikum, brother
I'd like to point out that this problem is not specific only to ppl of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. In fact, it is very common for ppl to mix their religious beliefs with cultural beliefs, regardless of their race or creed. The reason is that, religion doesn't come into holes and empty spaces. It comes to ppl with customs n cultures already established.

  11. Thanks alot sister zee for clarifying that issue, i thought i was the only one infuriated with such. May Allah reward us all. (Amin).

    • Dear Sister Halima,

My heart goes out to you. May Allah grant your child with Shifa

Here are some duas you can read and encourage your child to read also:

"And [God] shall heal the breast of the believers." (at-Tawba, 9:14)

"Mankind there has come to you a guidance from your Lord and a healing for (the diseases) in your hearts, and for those who believe a guidance and a mercy." (Yunus, 10:57)

"There issues from within the bodies of the bee a drink of varying colors wherein is healing for mankind." (an-Nahl, 16:69)

"And We sent down in the Quran such things that have healing and mercy for the believers." (an-Najm, 17:82)

"And when I am ill, it is [God] who cures me.” (ash-Shu`ara, 26:80) (A supplication of Prophet Abraham [as])

"And declare (O Muhammad) that [the Quran] is a guidance and healing for the believers." (al-Fussilat, 41:44)

Also try to make the Morning and Evening Dhikr a part of your daily ibaadah, as did Rasul(sws).

    • Asalaamualaykum dear Sister,

May Allah make this difficulty be an expiation for your father and grant him with shifa. Here are some duas and ayahs you can encourage your father to recite as much as possible insha'Allah insha'Allah:

      - "And [God] shall heal the breast of the believers." (at-Tawba, 9:14)

      - "Mankind there has come to you a guidance from your Lord and a healing for (the diseases) in your hearts, and for those who believe a guidance and a mercy." (Yunus, 10:57)

  22. I was googling about Sufism and about Sheik Abdul Qadir Jilani and just came upon this. SORRY for going off-topic but I really in a state of confusion. I started having doubts and thoughts recently regarding what I really know about religion. This name is mentioned probably all over the Subcontinent and among Sufis and Sunni's who probably don't fully understand. Even among my family we used to sit together and this name would be mentioned. Some of the stuff said were in Arabic with his name in it and I thought it meant something like 'we should be like him or try to follow what he left and be pious like him'. I wasn't sure if we were 'asking him for help'. Now it probably seems like that might have been the case. I need to talk to my parents about this although I'm worried they may get upset with me like when I spoke to them about reciting Quran Khatam on the anniversary of Grandparents deaths.

I fully understand that calling upon someone else other than God is 'shirk'. I was oblivious to the fact that mentioning this name might have been considered 'Shirk'. It is really a shock for me that it's among my family and from previous generations.

Now someone clarify for me what they person in the post above said "hz sheikh abdul qadir jilani promised to help any muslimf if he asks him for help". If Sheik Abdul Qadir Jilani did say that, did he mean that while he was ALIVE, that if someone comes to him with a problem he will try to help him and make dua to Allah to help the person? If that's the case then that seems fine. But if he also meant after he dies then there is something wrong. Also did he even really teach this practice to his student and followers? If someone knowledgeable can clarify for me it would be great and much appreciated.

Also calling upon the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) doesn't sound right to me either, he is DEAD and was human after all. As far as I know, he will only intercede on Day of Resurrection.

    • Seeker, if you'd like a detailed discussion on this then please log in and write your question as a separate post. To be brief, you are correct. We do not call on anyone but Allah; We cannot call even on the Prophet Muhammad (sws). To call on anyone besides Allah is shirk. Certainly many Muslims do it. These kinds of shirk practices are common in the Muslim world among those who are not Islamically educated, and in certain sufi sects.

    • Seeker brother. Everything is in quran
Person u talking about. Did Allah mentioned him in quran ? NO

You don't know about prophet muhammad sws

We don't pray to him. We pray to ALLAH

      Read this please :
Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, is the man beloved by more than 1.2 billion Muslims.  He is the man who taught us patience in the face of adversity, and taught us to live in this world but seek eternal life in the hereafter.  It was to Prophet Muhammad that God revealed the Quran.  Along with this Book of guidance God sent Prophet Muhammad, whose behavior and high moral standards are an example to us all.  Prophet Muhammad’s life was the Quran.  He understood it, he loved it and he lived his life based on its standards.  He taught us to recite Quran, to live by its principles and to love it.  When Muslims declare their faith in One God, they also declare their belief that Muhammad is the slave and final messenger of God.

When a Muslim hears Muhammad’s name mentioned they ask God to send blessings upon him.  Prophet Muhammad was a man, a human being just like any other man, but it is his love for humanity that sets him apart.  Muslims love Prophet Muhammad, but it is his love for us, that makes him a man like no other.  He longed for Paradise not only for himself but also for all of us.  He wept tears not for himself but for his Ummah[1], and for humanity.  He was often heard to cry “O God, my Ummah, my Ummah

Who is Prophet Muhammad?  Quite simply he is the man who will stand before God on the day of Requital and beg God to have mercy on us.  He will intercede for us. Muslims love him because he is the slave and messenger of God, he is a mercy to humankind and his gentleness, and devotion to humanity is unprecedented.
      s

      He will stand for us
He will ask from Allah for us
Allah him self have mentioned him everywhere in quran

      We r not making this
      Quran is real

So hope so u get me

    • Brother AbdulRahman, May Allah (Swt) give you shifaa' and answer your duas. Shall I simply comment in hope that you take it as advice, "Ya Allah", with the "ya" at the beginning is used when one is calling out to Allah 'Azawajal, as in "O Allah..", otherwise, when you would like to state something about Allah or mentioning him, there is no need for the "ya", jazakAllah Khair:)

  29. Narrated 'Aisha:

The Prophet used to treat some of his wives by passing his right hand over the place of ailment and used to say, "O Lord of the people! Remove the difficulty and bring about healing as You are the Healer. There is no healing but Your Healing, a healing that will leave no ailment."

    Bukhari :: Book 7 :: Volume 71 :: Hadith 646

When quoting hadith, you must be precise.

  30. Narrated 'Aisha:

    Bukhari :: Book 7 :: Volume 71 :: Hadith 646

When quoting any hadith it must be done precisely. Allah SWT knows best.

      • Dear admin I need some information about life support. In islam are we allowed to keep life support if the person is clinically dead? If so then how long its allowed ? Will the shoul will suffer for this treatment? I need this information ASAP thank you. One of my uncle passed away 10min ago but my cousins are not allowing the doctore to remove the support and my father saying in islam we are not allowed to keep it for so long.

        • Sister Nadia,

I am sorry for your uncle. I wish you could take this matter to Darul Ifta for a fatwa. May Allah Forgive his sins and Grant him Jannah.

Here is a fatwa you can refer to and probably take help from as it lists down various patient conditions where life support can be disconnected.

May Allah Make it easy for him.

  42. Dear brothers and sisters

My mother has been suffering from an incurable disease for the last 10 years and has only deteriorated recently please me dua for her and please help me to make prayers for her. I understand this is a test and I pray Allah has grants her paradise. I read all of these comments and it always gives me peace of mind may Allah bless you all for taking the time to read and relate whatever the circumstances. Ameen

    • May Allah bless your mother and make it easier for her and allow her to find a cure to this incurable disease. We may not be able to control what happens in our lives but we can control the actions that we do. Please help her keep a healthy diet and allow her to exercise (even walking will do) and always pray to Allah to cure her. You may think that being sick is a horrible thing now but when time comes and you see how the illness has erased some of the sins (by Allah's mercy) then you will have a peace of mind. May Allah bless you both with Jannah as well as all of my brothers and sisters in Islam who are going through illnesses and the ones who are healthy as well. Ameen.

  43. I hope Insha Allah that you get well soon. Please brothers and sisters, pray for my grandfather who is extremely sick. He is in the hospital. He is a heart patient. He has broken his hip bone and cannot walk. The doctors said that an operation is necessary but they can only do it if his blood pressure is okay. Unfortunetly, his blood pressure is extremly low so doctors cant do operation yet. The doctors say that if they do not do the operation fast, he might get a blood clot. 🙁

Recently he has a problem in his kidneys as well and I am worried about him. Please pray for him for his health and happiness. He isn't even talking or sitting. He is just laying in bed with closed eyes. I'm praying for Allah to do the best for him and get him out of his pain. Ya Allah. I can't stop crying when I think about him. 🙁

Please pray for him. It's all he really needs and all that can help him at this stage.

-I am just a thirteen year old girl.

    • This is exactly what happend to my grandfather (he is no more) but be brave. Sometimes in later age it's vary vary hard to do what we wanted to. I pray to Allah to forgive all his sins and ease your grandfather pain and when it will be time for him to go may Allah take him with peace.

I have to force myself to go to work and do my daily activities and pray, plus my heart is still broken so I have to have that pain as well. It is very difficult for me to wake up everyday to do the things I used to do, I love to jog but I can't do that anymore and being at home keeps bringing bad memories and thoughts into my head. I am going to a doctor tomorrow, inshAllah, to get blood work done, please pray for me as I am very scared of the results :'(

    • May Allah Heal her if that is best for her. But know that none can delay the prescribed moment of death.

Please read this du'a to her, as taught by Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam:

أسأل الله العظيم رب العرش العظيم أن يشفيك
As alullahil 'Adheem, Rabbil 'Arshil 'Adheem, an Yashfiyaki
      (7 times)

Imam at Tidmidhee reported the hadith that Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: Any Muslim servant (of Allah) who visits a sick person whose prescribed moment of death has not arrived and supplicates him with this du'a seven times, he/she will be cured (Declared Sahih by Imam Albani)

  61. About #7.

My question is- is there a different translation? This sounds like what christians say (Our Lord Allah Who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name) except they don't say Allah, they just say lord

      Here is a du'a-

Allahumma adhhibal bas, Rabb annaas, ishfi wa Anatal Shaafi, la shifaa' 'illa Shiaa'uk, Shifa'al la youghadiru saqama

Narrated 'Aisha: Whenever Allah's Apostle paid a visit to a patient, or a patient was brought to him, he used to invoke Allah, saying, "Take away the disease, O the Lord of the people! Cure him as You are the One Who cures. There is no cure but Yours, a cure that leaves no disease." (Sahih Bukhari)

and also note that our prophet said : "No tiredness, illness, difficulty, sorrow, harm or sadness afflicts a muslim, even if its like a thorn pricking BUT Allah wipes away their sins." (Muslim)

  68. What do I read for my granddaughter please someone tell me a dua for my granddaughter she's very poorly she has brain trumor and she is on life support please tell me a dua as soon as possible thank you

    • Assalam alaikum,

I am sorry for the pain that you, your family and your granddaughter are going through. To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. My sister-in-law recently was on life support and it was a very trying time. I didn't read any particular specific du'a, but I made du'a for her well-being by simply asking Allah swt directly. I felt the most peace in knowing that Allah is in control of all things and matters and we can only do our best in actions and in du'as. Perhaps another reader can share a specific du'a with you, but I am sure that any of the sincere du'as that you make coming straight from your heart will not be in vain as Allah swt is Most Merciful. May Allah swt give you and your family strength, patience and wisdom through this tribulation, Ameen.

  91. Salam Everyone,

Over the past 3 weeks I've been suffering from an ear disorder and my biggest fear in life, before this came, was to lose my hearing. I went to multiple doctors and some told me there is nothing, and some told me that it was due to a cold I had a couple of days prior it came. I've been praying a lot everyday for some relief, but due to my past history with anxiety my body will not let me relax. I haven't been sleeping right for the past 3 weeks. Please pray for me, brothers and sisters. My classes begin in 2 weeks and inshallah I get better before that.

My mom and dad are praying for me every day. I just need to know I am going to get better, with Allah's help.

Thank you, and may G-d bless you all.

  92. Thank you for these lovely dua's

  97. OK I like the prayers and the Muslim way of worship....I don't know who can guide me...

    • The Muslim way of prayer you have to have faith on ALLAH (GOD) and Faith on that Prophet Muhammad is his last and final messenger, for that you have to convert to Islam
and then you can pray to ALLAH, the muslim way
other than that if you don't want to convert to ISLAM then pray your own way may ALLAH reward you for your prayer

  98. Assalamalikum All
