Eid Mubarak to all our readers!

On this joyful occasion of Eid, my thoughts are with my family, and with all of you, because you are my family as well. My fellow Editors, and all our readers, are dear to me. May Allah accept our fasting, and give us guidance, forgiveness and joy.

Here are two lovely dua's that can be said on Eid.

Ya Allah, relieve the sadness of those who are suffering, and guide those who are wandering and lost.
Ya Allah, bring ease to our difficulties, and show us the way out of our problems.
Ya Allah, unite the Muslims to serve You and please You.
Ya Allah, give Sabr (patience) and freedom to the innocent prisoners, and guide those who are at fault.
Ya Allah, You take care of the oppressed. Help the oppressed in Palestine, Libya, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Iraq, India, Chechnya, China, Mindanao and other parts of the world.
Ya Allah, guide oppressors to the right path and move the hearts of extremists from the harmful path.

Ameen.

Here is another beautiful dua' that one can say on Eid (don't try to memorize it, just read it and say Aameen):

Ya Allah we beseech You alone, because to You belongs all praise; You have no partner, You are One, Unique, eternally besought Independent, neither begets, nor begotten, and there is none comparable unto You; and Muhammad is Your servant and Messenger, Your blessings be on him and on his companions and descendants, and all who followed him in righteousness.

O He who every day, exercises universal power, so it was under Your mandate we were taken care of, and because of which we are among those who receive Your response, follow Your religion, and call You alone.

You assisted us from the day we were born, through Your favours, generosity and kindness, thereafter, Your favours followed one another in succession, and likewise, also Your rewards and mercy.

Maybe we were slow, forgetful, neglectful, careless and indolent, but You completed Your favours, and always thought of us, bestowed Your favors on us, directed us, so by Your power it is as it should be O our God, Master, and Lord, You brought Your favours to fullness, and did not withdraw any blessing; verily You are the worthiest of all who grant favours, and it is You who perfected Your bounties for us.

O Allah we paid attention, obeyed, and responded to Your call, and it was also Your favour to us, therefore, praise is for You alone, we seek Your pardon O our Lord, and unto You we shall return.

O Allah, our Lord - Nourisher, verily we have heard a crier calling unto faith: "Believe you in your Lord!" So we believed.

Our Lord! Therefore forgive us our sins, and remit from us our evil deeds, and make us die the death of the righteous.

Our Lord! And give us that which You have promised to us by Your Messengers, confound us not on the Day of Judgment, verily, You do not break the covenant.

O Allah be our witness that we were upright and firm in religion in the light of that which the Messenger Muhammad and his companions, family and righteous followers set forth, blessings of Allah be on him and them; our path is their path, whatever they said we say, we cherish that which they held dear, we deny that which they denied, we are fond of whoever they loved, we condemn whomsoever they censured, we are kind to whomsoever they treated with kindness.

O Allah keep us in this condition forever, never withdraw it from us, let it stay stable with us, not as a passing phase, so far as we are kept alive, and make us die likewise when the time comes, because this alone will give us happiness, O the Most Merciful of all who show mercy!

  1. Asalamualaikum dear all,

Wael JazakhAllahkhair for your lovely eid greetings and duas. I was hoping that Ramadan would be 30 days this year and was looking forward to fasting again tomorrow. Yes, I'm missing Ramadan : ). But Alhumdulillah for Eid, its a blessing and a gift from Allah.

I pray Allah accepts all our fasts and good deeds, aameen. And I pray everyone's situations improve InshaAllah. Have an enjoyable day everyone and do remember those less fortunate than us too.

    • A few sunnahs of Eid:

      1. Perform Ghusl on the day
      2. Eat an odd number of dates before going for Eid Salaah
      3. Pray Eid Salaah outside (Menstruating women should witness the prayer)
      4. Recite from Mahgrib on last fast till Eid Salaah: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Laa illaaha illallaah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Wa lillahil hamd
      5. Pay zakat up fitr for every member of the family before Eid Salaah
      6. Take a different route to Eid Salaah and back home

      Revive a Sunnah.

  2. Salam brother Wael,
Jzk for the duas. I alhamdulillah found much peace during this month of Ramadhan and am now sad to see it end so soon. I pray Allah swt accepts all of our duas and fasts and that we are able to continue our acts of worship throughout the year, striving to become closer to Allah swt, ameen.

    Eid Mubarak to everyone!

  3. Jazak Allah for your prayers and duas brother Wael.
Sadly, Ramadan is leaving us:(; the month of blessing and peace. It was a good opportunity that Allah (swt) bestowed upon us all. I wished that if we had 30 days but it's Allah's will. A lot of our brother and sisters were with us last year and who knows if we will be alive next year to earn Allah's mercy by fasting again. May Allah (swt) accept our prayers, duas, Quran recitations and other form of Ibadah and help us stay on the right path. Also, I pray to Allah (swt) to forgive us of any shortcomings/mistakes we committed in this holy month. (Amin)
I would like to request all the reader/viewers to make special duas for our brothers and sisters who are not able to enjoy these beautiful moments of Eid in other parts of the world due to sufferings from War or natural disasters. Pray to Allah (swt) for their sufferings/trials to be uplifted soon and give them patience to bear these tests from Almighty (swt). Amin
I wish you all a very happy Eid-ul-Fitr. May you have fun with your families, friends and neighbours.

    Waslaam,
    Muhammad1982:)

  4. Can anyone tell me about the night preceding eid ul fitr? Any special rewards, prayers etc? I cannot find any details on the night preceding eid but I have heard that the angels descend to bring with them rewards for the month of ramadan?

    • yes it is called Laylatul Jaiza. the Holy Prophet used to stay up all night before each of the two Eids, praying nafl.

visit Sidra Mushtaq's Healing Hearts twitter feed and/or the Healing Hearts website. She has posted the sunnah about it. If i find it I will post it here.

      • Here it is - found it! http://www.sidramushtaq.wordpress.com

The Prophet (salla’Allahu ‘alayhi wasalam) is reported to have said, “Whoever stands up (in worship) in the nights preceding the two Eids expecting rewards from his Lord, his heart will not die when the other hearts will die”. (Ibn Majah)

“It had been the practice of the Prophet (salla’Allahu ‘alayhi wasalam) that he would not sleep in the night preceding the day of Eid-ul-fitr. This night has been named in a Hadith as the Night of Reward (Lailatul Jaiza). The Almighty bestows His rewards on those who have spent the month of Ramadan abiding by the dictates of Shari’ah, and all their prayers in this night are accepted. To benefit from this opportunity, one should perform as much worship in this night as he can, and should pray for all his needs and desires.”

“When it is the last night [of Ramadan], they are forgiven, all of them.”
So a man from the people said, “Is it the Night of Power?” And the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) replied, “No, do you not see that if laborers work, when they finish their tasks, they are given their wages?” – Bayhaqi

        • Jazak Allah sister PS for reminding us all about Lailatul Jaiza. That link was quite helpful:)

          Wasalam,

Ramadan has come and gone and like an old friend
whom you welcome with open arms and open heart.
It has brought with it all kinds of gifts.
It gave you company in the nights,
it came with inner peace that will stay with you
until it returns next year Insha-Allah.

-Aren't these the translations , rather then the duas?

    • Yes of course. But one can say dua' in any language. It is a personal communication between an individual and Allah.
