Is it my fault that I can’t read arabic?

Quran verses, Quran ayat, Quran ayahs

Hi.

Well i'm 17 years old (female) and I have a really bad father (not to mention my life too) And he NEVER taught me how to read Arabic, He only approved of English school but not Arabic. He didn't teach me how to pray too. Only my mom did. But that's not my point.

My point is that I don't know how to read Arabic and I'm still not allowed to go to school and I feel as if online researching won't do me much good since I have a hard time learning things. I really want to read the Quran.

MY DAD IS NOT UNDERSTANDING SO DONT TELL ME TO GO TALK TO HIM CAUSE IVE TRIED AND MY MOM TRIED TOO.

This isn't my fault right?

  1. AA;

Does he let you go to the mosque? Do they have classes there? You can also try on line as you mentioned or have a friend come over your place.
But I think mostly you, or someone else, will have to talk to your father! I mean you (Alhamdolellah, tabarak Allah, Mashallah) want to learn to read Quran (Where others are forcing their kids to) and that is something to be proud of. So he should try to help you. If he does not want to send you to school, then he should help you at home. Other thing is to wait till you get married, but that's not really feasible.

May ALLAH guide us, grant us patience, and shower us with his mercy.

If I am correct, it is from ALLAH. If I err it is from me, and I pray ALLAH forgives me. Allah knows best.

    AA

It's touching to hear that even though your father has stopped you from learning to read Arabic you are still so eager to learn it. I

It is not your fault that that he has deprived you of this .All you can do for him is pray and make dua to Allah for him to repent and help you come closer to Allah by reading the Quran and practising your deen.

i think you could maybe try doing a on-line course offered by e alim and lots of other institutions. They offer live class's in which you participate by conference calls via Skype or virtual classrooms .in this type of course you have a teacher who can actively help teach you to learn read Arabic. I am currently doing a alim course online in the same manner and it is really good we're learning classical Arabic. The teachers are wonderful in helping you in anyway additional way you need.

Another option you might want to consider is might it be possible for you is trying to get a private tutor.is the any Muslim sisters in your area that could come and teach you?or something like that

hope you find a way to learn Arabic

  3. I am in the same situation... I was never taught how to read the quran or how to pray...I learnt how to pray through the help of my sister. But I am still trying to learn how to read the quran.. I bought a book to learn to read arabic but its a bit difficult to learn how to pronounce the words. I REALLY WANT TO LEARN TO READ THE QURAN!

    • Salaam, i would recommend using the arabic starter dvd for kids, its easy to learn and teaches you sounds and pronounciation correctly.

      • I have used youtube but its hard to know if I'm saying it right... But I'm going to save up my money and pay someone to teach me

  4. Salaam, its sad reading your story, i would recommend the arabic starter dvd for kids, it is great and goes through the sounds and pronounciation correctly, you can easily learn in your own time and im sure with help of Allah, you will be able to read arabic in no time inshaAllah, and its not your fault, its a test and mashaAllah despite your father restricting you, you still want to learn arabic and read the quran that is brilliaint and rare in the current age, wish there was more people like you in this world.
have faith sister and inshaAllah all will work out for you.

  5. There are all sorts of youtube videos wherein Arabic speakers have posted guidance for reading the Qur'an. This way you can hear the correct pronunciation and feel more confident than just from a book. For basic Arabic, you can look into the Rosetta Stone series, though they can be a bit pricey.

Like all languages, to identify the alphabet, a continuous and repetitive writing of the letters will help you in recognizing them. Also, consider listening to recording of the Qur'an while you sleep and have it playing in the background as you study, work or cook, for example. There are many phone apps for the Qur'an and my favorite is iQur'an, which is also available for Android. The free version has audio reciters of every chapter with the paid version having a larger selection of more reciters. The free version is very good enough because it goes verse by verse with translation in Arabic and English.

You can find the downloads here: guidedways.com

    Insha'allah, I hope this helps.

  6. Asalam wailakum
Hope you all are well i would like to know if have not read the quran are you still a muslim? Thank you

    • Walaikum as salam,
To be a muslim the basic belief you need is to believe that there is no god but Allah and mohamma (pbuh) is his messinger.... But u should learn to read and understand the quran before its too late. Life is too short and death may come upon u suddenly... So dnt waste ur time... I am hoping to learn to read the quran soon inshallah...I hope u do too, may allah make it easy for you.

  7. Allahamdullilla thank you for your kind reassuring words. hope the same for you Inshallah.
May Allah bless you with peace and happiness.

  8. Allah SWT gave us since and thinking on which we can make our future brighten and darker.
As Allah said in His Glorious Qur'an that:
    "ليس للانسان الا ما سعى"
There is nothing for Human being but for what he struggles
Yeah absolutely all action are depending on Us if we do good we will reward well and if we commit fault than we will get curse for that.

  9. don't be so hard on yourself, even if you don't know how to read, there's something is called learning.
~_~ you can learn it , and you can learn it easily.
just decide from where you want to start, then start.
I suggest LAFLWSP for you . from here you can start with LAFLWSP-first lesson .
about your story, i'm 17 years old too and i'm female. tell if you want to communicate. i'm ready to be your friend ~_~ . in addition, if you really want to do something , you can do it even if all the world say no.
