Is Marrying cousin not Acceptable?

Assalamualikum..

Im from India and Inshaallah a gud muslim practising Namaz  and building more knowledge about Islam Allhamdulliah day by day.

My question is i belong to a bis family where my mom is 7th among 7 sisters and 2 brothers and and I was grown up Mashaallah very gud by my parents especially my dad. my parents used to fight daily as they both have their own way of mind which makes my mind disinterest in marriage.

I was Friend with my cousin (my moms elders sisters daughters son) and we were best friends from childhood ,Whole family knows that and every 1 is fine with us(i Am 6 months Elder to him). but later when we grew up we decided to marry as we wanna make it a Halal Relation .We consulted different Muftis and elders whether we can marry and Allhamdulliah we got positive reply.we both intimated the same to our parents but they turned against to this saying this relation is not accepted and Society will never accept nor even Relatives.

Mashaallah he is such a good guy who believes in Allah even if everything around him is pulling back and i cant marry Any one else as he knows me from my childhood and cares and Loves me back to the most.

Please tell me Is marrying him a Sin . My mom and his mom were bst frnds and nw dy r nt even spkng bcoz of this.

It would me more helpful if you would give me any example so that we can convince our parents.

my cousin is my moms Elders sisters daughters son.

Awaiting for your reply.

  1. Alaikum Assalam
Look it up on the internet what islam says when parents don‘t want to marry of their children.
This will be very helpful in sha Allah
But until you get married you can not have a haram relationship with him.

  2. It would be permissible for you and your cousin to get married. There isn't anything wrong with that. I think it's just a social issue where you're from. However , this is quite a common kind of marriage and is practiced.

    only marriages that would be haram by blood are ;

Mothers: every female ancestor for you no matter how high her level is (note that she might on the side of your father too, for example, your father's mother).
Daughters: every female descendant of you no matter how low her level is (again, note that she might be on the side of your son, for example, your son's daughter).
Sisters: every female that share you your father or mather (or both of them).
    Aunts: both
Sisters of every male ancestor for you (even on the side of your mother, such as the sister of your mother's father), and
Sisters of every female ancestor for you (even on the side of your father, such as the sister of your father's mother).
Nieces: every female descendant of your brothers and sisters, no matter how low her level is (this count 2 out of 7). This completes the list of women prohibited because of blood relationship.

How many of your close relatives married to close relatives like cousins?
Your parents may be concerned about your cousin's education, job etc.

    • Assalamualikum,

till now none get married and even ds z a issue my parents showing like none in our whole khandan married a relative how can u marry.

Mashaallah he is a client engineer and earning a gud pay.

  4. Assalam O Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa baraqatuh.
Your mum's sister would be your aunt, her daughter would be your cousin and her son would be your nephew. Doesn't that make you his aunt??

  5. You can marry him, but why would you want to? It's well documented that inbred children (children that have parents that are biologically related) suffer from so many health and mental issues. It's not healthy. Is the world so small that there's no one else to marry but your own flesh and blood?

    • Assalamulaikum.

Yes i agree with you, but i just believe in Allah (SWT)and Inshaallah he is such a merfiful that he ll give me a good children and i want to marry him because till today my parents are fighting because of misunderstandings even in holy Ramzan month , bef relatives, in bus everywhere they will.

And at times, my dad beats mon and we would be doing her first aid trying to stop her bleeding taking 2 hospital and all.

And they both i angry says that they are together only because of Society and children.

The only Dua i make to Allah (SWT) is to stop there fight by seeing all this i nvr want to marry some one and in addition i faced lot of issue with guyz from childhood and Allhamdullilah i faced them bravely and ds guy he knows me very well and all the issues in home and all the time he just say pray pray allah (SWT) is there.

      • It's not a matter of believing in Allah or not...science has proven that children that are born from parents that are blood relatives tend to suffer from a variety of health issues and even retardation. Knowing that you, marrying your family member, will subject your future children to a much higher risk of suffering from health problems and retardation is not only completely selfish and irresponsible, it's also very stupid. Your family is right in saying no to you marrying this man, if you ask me...

And while we are on the subject of Allah, even in Islam it's not encouraged to marry within your family. So you can believe in Allah all you want (I do, too), but it doesn't change the fact that your children could very likely become mentally retarded.

  6. Assalaamualaikum.

If you're single, looking for marriage and have a cousin who is pious: you can marry them [in Shariah) [in Muslim countries, this is not uncommon]. There are no deformities in these countries because of this type of marriage, but in the west, STDs cause children of cousin marriages to have deformities. It is halal in Islam to marry a cousin.

  7. Yusuf: There are no deformities in these countries because of this type of marriage, but in the west, STDs cause children of cousin marriages to have deformities. It is halal in Islam to marry a cousin.

Where did you find this information that in the west, "STDs cause children of cousin marriages to have deformities.".

  8. SVS: Where did you find this information that in the west, STDs cause children of cousin marriages to have deformities.

Are you here to learn or to troll? If you say you're here to learn, I'll show you the evidence.
