Is masturbation haram?

My question is
Is masturbation haram in Islam and if it is where in Quran it is mentioned and sir if a person unfortunately does after iftar during ramdan what are the consequences?
Thirdly I want to control on this habit can you suggest me how?
I also think that I have (nazar), on myself how to overcome this problem
