Istikhara for marriage

dreams dreamt

I have performed the Isktikhara namaaz several times now. The first time I had performed it, I had a very good feeling when I had woken up but I didn't remember seeing a dream. The second time I performed it, as soon as I had woken up I had said the person's name and felt very happy but I can't remember if I had a dream or not. After few weeks or even a month later I did it again but finally I had a dream. I had dreamt that there was a girl dressed in white who I felt was upset and then she started to laugh looking very happy, when she turned around I saw that this girl was me. I don't know if this is a good thing or not. The next day I did it again but this time I dreamt that there were 8-10 trays of different types of red apples in front of me and a man who I didnt recognize was telling me to choose one and eat it...(the apples were in big chunky slice's and looking very sweet)... I didn't know which one to choose so the man picked one from the tray in front of him and gave it to me, which I did take a bite off. I don't know if all of this is a good sign or not if you could please answer my question for me please would be very helpful.

  1. Salaams,

Istikhara is a tool for guidance. Sometimes guidance is clear and undeniable, and sometimes it is somewhat vague and only leaves a slight clue as to what direction we should take. Imagine being on a road, and trying to see where it will lead during the middle of the day...you will see far and clearly what is to come. Imagine seeing that road again in the middle of the night with only a flashlight...you will only see far enough to take a few steps ahead. Either way, it's still the same road, nothing has changed, and moving ahead is something you can still do regardless of how little or much you can see.

We cannot interpret dreams, but if you ask me it seems that all of your istikhara came back more positive than negative. I am not sure what exactly you were trying to find out or ask, but I would take it as a "green light". You may not get any clearer dreams, and it may not even be a dream that shows you what to do. Go forward as much as you can with what you've been given, and perhaps more guidance will be given to you via circumstance as you progress toward your goals Insha'Allah.

  2. You should not expect a dream as a response to Istikhara.

1.) The Rasulullah sal said whoever does two things will never go astray; Istikhara (Consulting Allah) and Istishara (Consulting Professionals in that matter, sincere people, scholars etc)

2.) After your 2 consultations, take a decision and if you take the wrong decision Allah will turn you away from that path to the right path and if you take the right decision Allah will make it easy.

3.) Finally, that decision you take after the 2 consultations must have all purity and sincerity i.e. good intentions in it, that is the per-requisite for Allah's guidance.

  3. Assalaam Walekum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu Sister AliaShokat,

Nothing much to say except that what I had read in a book written on dream interpretation by an Islamic scholar who was one of the best dream experts. My quest for knowledge had led me to that book.As I myself , since early phase of my life used to have dreams which would soon come true.So just wanted to solve this mystery about myself, as to why I get these dreams?

So my comment is more about of guidance that was mentioned in that book by the Author( If I am not mistaken He was Mohammed B. Sireen Rahmatullahi Alaihi, My apologies if I am wrong). The Author says:

Following are some of the rules for people who can interpret a dream correctly:
1.He should be offering all mandatory prayers perfectly.
    2. Should be following Sunnah of Prophet Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam.
    3. Should be truthful in his affairs with Allah Subhaanwataalla.
    4. Should be truthful to his words, in dealing with other people.
5.Should have profound knowledge of Quran-e-Paak, And Hadith-e- Mubarak of Our beloved Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and their interpretations.
6.Should be familiar with local scenarios and prevailing conditions of society in which the dreamer lives.
7.Should be familiar with local sayings and meanings.
    8. Also must be familiar with the state of mind of the dreamer.

The Author also mentioned in his book that : Compared to Women dreams of men are more reliable and trustworthy.By this he meant number of meaningful dreams that a man gets is higher than what a woman gets. Also he states that dreams of a believer who himself is truthful, is on Sunnah and performs all obligatory prayers ritually are more reliable than that of a not so good practitioner of Islam.

He also warned in his book that asking everyone about a dream (one has) is not a good idea.As it can lead to more harm than good. Also he advised to seek dream interpretation from only those people who have all the above mentioned qualities in them.

It is very easy to conclude that ( from the guidelines mentioned above) one can be rest assured that atleast Internet is not one of the correct places to ask about dream.
