Istikhara interpretation

English Translation of the Dua for Istikhaarah

Dua for Istikhaarah

As salaam Alykum,

May ALLAH bless all with good health and strong faith. I am doing istikhara for the marriage. I have known this person and engagement was finalised. Few months remaining for the marriage when the would be husband approached my parents and called off the engagement based on the no understanding and future predictions of me not potentially fit with his family culture. Next day he apologises my parents and would like to get back. Based on instability I decided to perform istikhara and revert with a response.

1st day Istikhara: I saw a flood outside my residence where the cars have been stuck and I am trying to find a solution. Second part, I have travelled with my friend to a clinic where I am given a vaccine for Incurable disease (HIV) and has been advised its life long.

Second day of Istikhara: Nothing.

Third day evening before Istikhara: We start to argue trying to make each other understand our viewpoint and thats how we started to talk.

Third day of Istikhara: I am in a good market where different people came to trade and exhibition took place. Then I reached a place where chairs are kept for a lecture and my brothers and I approaching to take a seat when a sand storm was approaching. If we approach the sand storm, it approaches with high speed or else it is stagnant.

I do understand dreams and colors should should not be considered but I strongly believe this is a sign.

Please advise me the interpretation of my dream as I am sure this is a sign for me but is it difficulty or a sign of annulling the relationship and not to give him a chance. Your swift answer will help me to provide an answer to my family.

Regards,

Sana

  1. When a person does itikhara, no one can predict what the results will be, or if there will be any. There is no time frame. You can continue making a two rakah, nafl salah and make dua asking Allah to guide you, to provide you what you really need. Prayers and dua are always beneficial, so regardless of what you think may be the result, it earns a good reward. If the man you were engaged to changed his mind for some silly status or culture reason, then changed his mind back, you might want to realize he might be very immature or indecisive. Why did he want to marry you in the first place? What prompted him to break the engagement and then change his mind? Istikhara is good for making important decisions, but accurate information is equally important.

Personally, I would not want to marry someone with this kind of mentality. You might be wise to end the engagement and tell him to call back in about six months or a year and see what other nice young stable men you might consider for marriage.

  2. asalam alekum sister,

Istikhara may or may not result in a dream, but when it is a dream, its a very strong sign from Allah SWT as dreams a part of our religion especially after we follow istikhara. The dreams you've told me about are pretty obviously stating that if you pursue this marriage, you wont be happy and will face many storms, and perhaps even sicknesses. Sister, you are not married to him, have noo children, and the guy has proven to be uncertain. Therefore u have the perfect chance to call off the marriage.
