Istikhara, should I rely on dreams or not?

Dua woman at SunsetAssalamualaikum.

I have been doing Istikhara for some time now for a proposal I received about a month ago. I have seen some dreams but after every dream and then eventually, I am unsure about whether I should take the dream seriously or it’s just a generation of my thoughts and fears.

And now after Istikhara, I just have this feeling that I should not think About the dreams and just rely on Allah.... and let Him take me towards what’s better for me. But I’m still confused.

my question is: should I take the dream seriously and take is as a sign from Allah or my decision that I will just let Allah take me to good and keep me away from bad is good?

I would not rely on any dreams as you simply don't know and can't know the source of the dream. It could be from Allah, satan, other jinns or from your own subconscious.

In your situation I would use my intuition about someone - how you feel about someone when you think about or are near them. I think your intuition is your soul telling you things that it knows but which you do not. So many times I didn't follow my intuition and was a lot worse off for it.

This is of course in addition to all due diligence that you should take like finding out as much about them as a person from their friends and especially their enemies. So many marriages have failed because people rely on how things look and don't look deeper inside a family. A good place to start your research would be the neighbours of the person - talk to a good number of them.

    I hope this helps.

Yes, this is exactly the correct approach. Don't worry about the dreams. You have prayed for Allah to bring the good thing to you, and keep the bad thing away. Now you should just proceed, making your own best choices, and trusting Allah to guide you to what is best.
