Islamic marriage advice and family advice

Miscarriage

Salaam,

I have been married for nearly 7 years (post from husband) and have no children. My wife had a miscarriage at the end of last year which was a very sad time for us as it was her first pregnancy - we got over that and then recently my wife got pregnant again - as she has had miscarriage before I was always worried she would have miscarriage and she had another miscarriage - my worry stems from the past - my question is by me thinking negatively did I indirectly cause this?

Thanks,

Shaz

  1. Asslaamualaykum Shaz,

I'm sorry to hear of your wife's miscarriages.

I know it is tempting to look to oneself as the cause in such a sensitive situation that can be affected by so many factors, but unless you were causing your wife constant stress by the way of abuse, etc., I see no way that your thoughts alone could have translated into her having a miscarriage. Subscribers to the film "The Secret" who believe in the ability to manifest something by training your thoughts in that direction alone, and Buddhists who believe that "what you think, you become" might argue otherwise, but Islamically, I don't believe that your worry amounts to anything but superstition.

May Allah bless you with a healthy baby(ies)

    Best,

    Nor

  2. Wsalam,
In addition to Nor’s good advice, I just wanted to remind you that I hope you have consulted a good gynaecologist/obstetrician, so that any causes of recurrent miscarriages can be ruled out/worked on.
Have Faith in Allah SWT, things happen when the time is right. May Allah bless you with righteous offspring soon. Ameen.
