Islamic marriage advice and family advice

My family do not like my faith

Hello everyone , peace and greetings from the Almighty be upon you . Glad i have found this website that allows me to communicate with other muslims and I hope you will be able to help me solve this problem I am already facing. I come from a city where Islam is not practiced very much , and all of my family relatives including the close ones , they do not practice Islam and they are scared of it. My mother may God bless her with Jannah she is a great person but she doesnt practice Islam or any other religion yet she believes in God but not in the religion, i respect her alot and I listen to her alot even though there is a problem ..

This Ramadan i started praying and it felt great i started feeling better in every possible way , i learned the beauty of Islam and i slowly started to embrace it .. She was ok seeing me praying and she didnt have any problem. I was the only who praied in my family , friends , or the whole family .. and when Ramadan ended i countinued praying even though my mom said i have to stop because she hates some of islamic rules .. I continued praying secretly in my room , till i saw her crying and being upset over the fact Islam took me , and I never said a bad word or something that could insult her but i prayed God to help me in this ..

Day by day she gets worse and day by day i am getting pression of all of my family members and friends and its hard .. I cannot see her cry , i cant even kill a fly , i think i am falling into depression and because of this i am starting to lose my five daily prayers , i am not able to concentrate during salah , because im always on fear. I start reading what to do and I didnt saw any helpful advice that could bring this problem a soultion. I am very nice and polite to her always because she is my mother and i want the best for her and my whole family thats why i always keep them in my duuas , sometimes i start talking her about islam and its beauty and she gets freaked out because she wasnt raised in a family where Islam is pracited ,

i dont know what to do anymore i am starting to lose faith , i am being held between two positions and i am failing at both of them , i am failing to make my mom happy because I love her , and I am feeling very bad of my self and my condition , i am not a disbeliever , but i think im being way to far from Allah swt. and I often get these awful thoughts that he abandoned me or forgot about me or he isnt listening to any of my duuas , i am constantly in a bad mood and i cant barely talk to anyone because no one can understand me .

I think I am falling into depression and these awful thoughts are killing me. I am very scared i can barely sleep .. So if anyone can help me simply by talking to me it would be great , may God grant you all the best.Amin

  1. Salam Summaya sis,

    Hoping you are doing well.

    Sorry to hear about your situation. please don't give up. Whilst you are trying to do your prayers and other religious obligations, also try to do things for your family. Like help out with housework - tidying up, cleaning up, washing up etc and sometimes take your mum out for coffee or make her favorite drink for her. Go shopping together. Make conversation with your grandma - listen to her childhood and youth stories. Start to do more things with your family than your usual. If you have nieces or nephews, play with them. Give your brothers/sisters some break from their kids. This way your family will understand you better that you are still part of them no matter how religious you may come across. Try to be involved in their lifes too.

    Don't expect for them to change or accept your choices within couples of days, weeks or months. I am telling you this out of my own personal experience. You need to be very patience. Don't get disheartened. You are going through tough time but in shaa Allah with patience and sincere supplication Allah swt will make it easy for you.

    Hope you found my msg helpful. please sister Summaya if I can be any help or you want to talk someone I am here to listen and talk to you, xxx <3

    Kind regards,
    Your sister, Me

    ➡️➡️Guide us on the straight path,⬅️⬅️
    the path of those who have received your grace;
    not the path of those who have brought down wrath, nor of those who wander astray.

    Verily, We shall put you to test with some fear, and hunger, and with some loss of wealth, lives, and offspring. And (O Muhammad) convey good tidings to those who are patient, who say, when inflicted by hardship, "Verily we are of God and verily to Him shall we return;" upon them is the blessings of Allah and His mercy. (2:155)

    Verily, We created man from a drop of mingled sperm so that We may test him; and therefore We made him hearing and seeing. We have indeed showed him the way, now he be grateful or ungrateful. (76:3)
