Islamic marriage advice and family advice

I have recurring dreams that people are spying on me or plotting against me

Mental illness symptoms.

Some symptoms of mental illness.

Salam. My life seems to be cursed. Things always go wrong. I have true dreams and my home was being bugged by some people.

I ended up being very bad tempered about this and alienated these people who I keep dreaming are going to take things I have said in my own home out of context in order to frame me.

I have the same recurring dream- that I am going to meet the man of my dreams only to have him leave me on lies that these Asians will spread.

I have dreamt that estranged relatives have brought migrants into the country and that some of them hate me and want revenge and that people will frame me and give false witness against me and that people will believe their lies.

What can I do to change this? Is there anything I can do or should I accept it as my fate?

  1. As-salamu alaykum seeker71,

It must be very frightening and frustrating to have these kinds of dreams and suspicions. Not to know who you can trust, and to feel that the people closest to you are plotting against you in some way. I can only imagine how stressful it must be.

I'm not a doctor or psychologist. But it sounds to me like you may be suffering symptoms of mental illness, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder (which is why I selected the image above for the post). If it is indeed mental illness it may be manageable through medication.

I recommend that you consult a physician right away. Explain what you are experiencing and get a medical exam. The doctor may in turn recommend you to a mental health professional.

My heart goes out to you and I pray that Allah will grant you healing, and will ease your heart.

  2. Asalamu alikum,

I dont know what you mean by true dreams? But....

There are different types of dreams and bad dreams are caused by the shaitan my friend. Before you sleep make sure you pray Isha prayer and say the dua before you sleep:

    http://www.makedua.com/display_dua.php?sectionid=28

Also, if you have a bad dream- there is also an etiquette of what to do when you see it such as:

    http://www.searchtruth.com/dua/index.php?dua=3

Just make sure that you make lots of dua and remember Allah through out the day and ask him for help in clearing these strange dreams from your life.

May you have peaceful nights inshallah.

poster..i think you need to see a therapist. These are delusions that are commonly seen with schizophrenia. You may just have a mild form of it. Normally there are grandeur delusion, paranoid delusions and ones tha tpeople have of someone watching over them..like in their mail, FBI police etc...this is NOT normal.SEEK help because it will get worse over time if not treated.

it may be a sensitve subject but being a nurse for over 8 years i have seen it all. alot of muslims are afraid to admit when they are having mental issues and see it as a curse when all in all they are have some chemical imbalances in the brain. it is a health issue just like diabetes or anything else.it is chronic and will NOT go away on its own.

    ayat

  4. assalamu alaikum poster

ive been a nurse for 8 years over and i have to say i think you are developing paranoid schizophrenia. it will get worse if it is not treated. Delusions of surveilance, paranoia and grandeur are perceptual hallucinations that can easily be treated with atypical antipsychotics so you can go on and live a normal life. This will always be apart of your life..chronic just like diabetes.the main thing is to take control of it or it will get worse. PLEASE seek help.if you live in britain you are covered by the NHS just like with a chronic physical illness, it isnT a curse!!!!! ITS an imbalance of dopamine neurotransmitter of the brain.

dreams has a very important role in muslims life.

Abu Hurayrah narrated Muhammad (S) said, "There are three types of dreams: a righteous dream which is glad tidings from Allah, the dream which causes sadness is from Shaitan, and a dream from the ramblings of the mind. (Sahih Muslim)

Muhammad (S) said, "Those of you with the truest dreams will be those who are most truthful in speech" (Sahih Muslim)

Muhammad (S) also told us, "Nothing is left of prophethood except glad tidings." Those with him asked, "What are glad tidings?" He (S) replied, "Good dreams." (Sahih Al-Bukhari

many ayah in quran and hadees show the importants of dreams, but unfortunately, some islamic scholaras, who is always behind scientific prrof for everything cant accept it..

so recite bismi llahi rahmaani raheem all times, with a niyyath that every obstacles should be removed by bismi..
    salaam
    mann

    • mann, it's a matter of courtesy to refer to our Prophet as the Prophet, or Prophet Muhammad, or Messenger of Allah (sws). Not simply by his first name.

Also, you've posted a few comments in which you have advised people to recite Bismillah as a solution to any problem. Of course as Muslims we should begin everything in the name of Allah, but it's not a magic phrase that will cure all problems. Life is more complicated than that and we need to offer people more comprehensive solutions. The best solution is a combination of dua' and some action to resolve the problem.

  6. Salam.

God knows if the dreams are a premonition or paranoia. I would suggest you take it easy and realize that whatever happens is with the will of Allah SWT. Do you pray 5 times a day? Are you reciting Qur;an? There are many, many du'aas to protect us against evil and better our affairs. You should definitely look into those and perform your awraad regularly. I would also highly recommend performing Hijama. Please seek a qualified Hijama practitioner and explain all the issues you are suffering from. It may prove to be very beneficial inshaAllah.

From what you have written here, I would be concerned that you may be experiencing a problem with your mental health. Mental illness can be due to a number of causes, and can be very common - about 1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem of some kind during their life.

I would advise you to speak to your doctor about what has been happening to you, as they may be able to provide some medical help, or at least reassurance.

As well as speaking with your doctor, you could also try strengthening your connection with Islam by ensuring you are keeping up with your prayers, reading Quran, and filling your life with halal influences. If you have a close friend or relative who you feel you can trust, it might also help to speak to them and ask for their advice and help.

If you feel that you are at risk of harm from others, or that you might feel a need to confront others about what you've been experiencing, it's very important that you go to a doctor or to hospital - if you are experiencing a medical problem they will be able to help manage it, and if you are not, they will be able to provide a safe place for you and help you get support.

Remember that Allah will not abandon you; nor will your brothers and sisters in Islam. I pray that you feel better soon.

  8. I am floored not one person has mentioned ruqya which is so well established as a concept in our deen.

would say before you run off to a therapist who may just get you on medication try the things our deen prescribes

5 times prayer with no exception
Morning and evening adhkar daily without missing any. Look on makedua.com

Recite surah baqarah every 3 days as per hadith of prophet.

Read you adhkar before bed. Refer to makedua.com for the bedtime adhkar

When you read baqarah you can blow on water ans sprinkle this water all over house. Walls/corners.

I Realize im not including evidences here. This is all grounded in the sunnah n not hocus pocus.

Inshallah I want to post references later.

please dear brother try this consistently for a few months.

Also daily recite often surah fatiha ayah kursi and surah falaq and naas. Do this as muuuch as possible.

    And a LOT of istighfar.

I would be VERY surprised if following this basic regime does not solve your problem

If someone is indeed trying to harm you through some way sticking to the above is a means of protection

I thin k its so sad we know so much about mental illness for which science offers no cure yet we know nothing of ruqya.

Shayateen play with ppls minds and the result is wat looks like mental illness.

I personally have "mental illness" if you want to call it that. Exact symptoms if bipolar.

I am a completely new person with a new chance at life after intense ruqya for 2 years. In reality I had sihr that was diagnosed by several experts.

If indeed u have shayateen/jinn bothering u and u follow the very basic plan I gave u things may initially get worse because ruqya means u are outright fighting them.

But continue n persevete. The fun part is ruqya has no side effects n you have NOTHING to loose n everything to gain.

Ruqya refers to seeking cure thru Quran n duas etc from sunnah but reliance is on Allah and He is the One who cures

Look up diaries of an exorcist on youtube and facebook for more info.

    May you be cured completely

  9. Salaam Seeker 71,

Im sure all the responses u have gotten here are great and will give u a head start of what it is u need to do.

To add, maybe u have a lot that its in ur subconscious mind that is bothering u and for that u wud definitely need to seek professional help. I wudnt rule out seeking help from an islamic standpoint either because as mentioned earlier dreams do play an important role in a muslims life and it cud be sumthing that is being told to u? maybe or maybe not.

I hope things get better for u tc
