Ramadan Mubarak! A Time of Purification

Ramadan Mubarak, Ramadan Kareem

Ramadan Mubarak, brothers and sisters!

Ramadan Mubarak. A sacred and special time is at hand.

As we go into this beautiful month, we must acknowledge that many of us are experiencing hardships of one kind or another. Some are dealing with painful relationship problems, difficulties in our marriages, problems with children or in-laws, breakups, debt, loneliness, or are struggling with feelings of shame and guilt.

Let's allow Ramadan to be a soothing balm for our souls. Let it purify us. Let Ramadan remind us of Allah's immense and infinite favors. Let Ramadan do its inner work on us, and when it's over let's not go back to what we were.

If Ramadan allows us to climb ten steps higher on the ladder toward Jannah, then maybe after Ramadan we fall back two or three steps, but not all the way. Be better and stronger than we were. This holy month will teach us, if we let it.

O Allah, for You do we fast, and for You do we break our fast. All praise is due to You, who fed us, and gave us to drink, and made us Muslims. Purify us during this month, relieve us from our burdens, and forgive us. - Ameen.

  1. Ramadan is here, The month that is blessed;
    Ramadan is here, The month we love best.
    The month in which the Qur'an was sent;
    A time of great blessing in which to repent.
    Fasting for Allah is a great Muslim deed;
    Controlling desires and Suppressing greed.

    Ramadan is coming, Increase your Iman(faith).
    Ramadan is coming, Recite the Qur'an.
    Take "Suhoor" in the dead of the Night;
    No eating or drinking during the daylight.
    Refrain from bad deeds and repent your soul;
    The pleasure of Allah is our only goal.

    Even if there is hunger, remember your Lord
    And wait until 'Iftar' to earn your reward.
    Fasting is one of the gifts of Allah
    Given to believers to increase 'Taqwah' (piety).
    We pray to Allah to put right our hearts;
    Ask for forgiveness from Allah and make a new start.

    Raising our hands we ask for his 'Rahmaa';
    Hear us our Lord and grant us 'Jannah'.

    Amin

  7. I got one little question it would be nice if one of the editors answer in Islamic way.

    In this holy month we know that reminded of the Prophet’s statement, ‘Upon the arrival of Ramadan the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained' but we people do sins and bad stuffs not all but some then how do we get influenced by shaitan? Is that because we are used to or what?

    • Whatever sin you do in this month is from yourself; from the corruption within you; not from the whisper of Shaytan. And Allah knows best.

  8. What is meant by Shayateen being chained up is that the mighty ones among the Shayateen are chained. His agents from among the Jinn and the humans play their part in leading the Believers astray.

    surah al An'aam, Aayah 112:

    And so We have appointed for every Prophet enemies - Shayatin (devils) among mankind and jinns, inspiring one another with adorned speech as a delusion (or by way of deception)....

    In Fathul Baari, Imam ibn Hajar al Athqalani Rahimahullah says about the Hadith that mentions chaining up of the Shayateen:

    “And the Shayātīn [here] are those from amongst them who eavesdrop [on the revelation], and their being chained up takes place during the nights (of Ramadān), not its days, because they were forbidden from eavesdropping at the time of the Qur’ān’s revelation; so they were chained up as an additional measure of protection (for the revelation). And it is possible that what is intended is that the Shayātīn are not as determined to tempt the Muslims as they are able to outside of it (i.e. Ramadān), because of them (the Muslims) being busy with fasting, which suppresses the desires, recitation of the Qur’ān, and the remembrance [of Allāh]. And others have said: ‘What is intended by Shayātīn here are some of them, and they are the evil ones from amongst them…’”

    After further clarification, Ibn Hajr continues by quoting the statement of al-Qādī ‘Iyād: ‘…and it is possible that this alludes to the abundance of reward and forgiveness (in Ramadān), and that the temptation of the Shayātīn is decreased, so they become as if they are locked up.’
    He (‘Iāyd) says: ‘And what supports this second view is his statement in the narration of Yūnus on the authority of Ibn Shihāb in Sahīh Muslim, ‘the gates of mercy are opened,’ and it is possible that the opening of the gates of Paradise means what Allāh has facilitated for His worshippers from the acts of obedience, and these are the reasons for entering Paradise; and the closing of the gates of the Hell-fire means a diversion from the desire to commit sins, which leads the sinner to the Hell-fire, and the chaining of the devils means the weakening of their ability to tempt and beautify desires.

    ’” He (Ibn Hajar) then quotes al-Qurtubī, may Allāh bestow his Mercy upon him, when he says: “If it is asked, how do we see so much evil and sin occurring in Ramadān? Since the Shayātīn are chained up, why does this still occur? The answer to this is that few of those who fast do so in a manner that meets these conditions, or that those intended [in the narration] are only some of the Shayātīn, specifically the evil ones from among them, not all of them, as has proceeded in some of the narrations; or that what is intended is a reduction in evil during it (Ramadān).

    And this can be felt, for indeed this (evil) occurs less during Ramadān than at any other time. Yet, the chaining of all of the devils would not necessitate that evil and sin would not occur, because there are other reasons for this besides the Shayātīn, like evil natures, wicked customs, and the Shayātīn from the humans.’ And others have said, ‘The chaining up of the Shayātīn in Ramadān points to the removal of the person’s excuse; it is as if it is said to him, ‘The Shayātīn have been restrained, so do not use them as an excuse for the abandonment of acts of obedience or the commitment of sin.’”

  14. In Ramadan, the stomach constricts
    But the heart expands.
    In Ramadan, the nafs is restricted
    And barakah is released without measure.
    In Ramadan, we wait long hours for our sustenance,
    Yet as we wait, Allah's mercy is given at every moment.
    In Ramadan, the date tastes sweeter,
    The water more refreshing, the meal more satisfying.
    In Ramadan, the duas are more heartfelt,
    The ibadah more sincere, the brotherhood more meaningful.
    In Ramadan, let us come together in peace
    Let us praise Allah together in love, and let us serve each other with humility.
    In Ramadan, I am praying Allah's best find each one of you,
    His love, His compassion, His nearness, His provision.
    For the sake of Allah I love you all

  17. Ramadan Mubarak to all! A most blessed month Ramadan is. May all of our fasts be accepted...amin.

  18. The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) said:
    “Seek Laylat al-Qadr among the odd numbered nights of the last ten nights of Ramadhaan.” [Bukhaari, Muslim]

    So brother and sister, Don’t just single out one night for Ibaadaat. Make sure to do it ALL TEN NIGHTS, because the EXACT date for Laylat al-Qadr is hidden from us.
