The Prayer of Need (Salat al-Hajah) or Istikhara?

Salat al-Hajah is a prayer for need, to bring your needs to Allah
Salat al-Hajah is a prayer for need, to bring your needs to Allah

There is a difference between Salat al-Istikhara, which is the Guidance Prayer, and Salat al-Hajah, the Prayer of Need. So how do you know which one you should pray in your situation?

You should pray Salat al-Istikahara when you are trying to determine the best course of action in any situation. Maybe you are trying to decide between two different important life paths, or you have been offered an opportunity and you don't know if you should take it. Salat al-Istikhara is a prayer to ask Allah to bring you the best outcome, and keep evil far away from you.

On the other hand, Salat al-Hajah is simply to ask Allah to help you with some pressing need. It's not about making choices or decisions.

Here is some information about Salat al-Hajah, written by Faraz Rabbani for SunniPath:

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful, and all blessings and peace upon our master Muhammad, his Folk, Companions and those who follow their noble way,

Abullah ibn Abi Awfa (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, "Whoever has a need with Allah, or with any human being, then let them perform ritual ablutions well and then pray two rakats. After that, let them praise Allah and send blessings on the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace). After this, let them say,

There there no god but Allah the Clement and Wise.
There is no god but Allah the High and Mighty.
Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Tremendous Throne.
All praise is to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
I ask you (O Allah) everything that leads to your mercy, and your tremendous forgiveness, enrichment in all good, and freedom from all sin.
Do not leave a sin of mine (O Allah), except that you forgive it, nor any concern except that you create for it an opening, nor any need in which there is your good pleasure except that you fulfill it, O Most Merciful!"

[Related by Tirmidhi and Ibn Maja. The hadith has some weakness, but such hadiths are acted upon for virtuous deeds (fada'il al-a`mal) by general agreement of Sunni scholarship]

The prayer of need is very simple: It is essentially to raise one's need to Allah Most High, by performing ritual ablution (wudu), praying 2 rakats (or four), and then making whole-hearted dua to Allah. If one uses the abovementioned Prophetic supplication, or other similar supplications transmitted from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace), it is best. [Ibrahim al-Halabi, Sharh Munyat al-Musalli; al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya; Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

The inward manners of supplication is exhibiting our neediness and absolute slavehood to Allah, consigning one's matters to Allah, and knowing that the only one who gives or benefits is Allah Most High. With this, one should be certain that Allah Most High answers our duas, but in the way He knows is best for us.

When circumstances do not permit us to pray 2 rakats, one should still turn to Allah in supplication, raising one's needs to Him, for He answers our supplications and loves being asked.

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani

    • I'm a 14 year old girl who is going through rough times at the moment. I'm trying to get closer to Allah. Please make dua for me. One of my friends think I have bipolar disorder. I want to know if I should go to the doctor about this. However I can't go to the doctors without my mum obviously but what's stopping me is I don't want her to know about this because then everyone will be curious to know what is causing the bipolar and that is something which I can't trust hardly anyone about. Also it will make my mum upset and I don't want that to happen. Can I perform a specific salah to know what I should do?

  2. Dear Sister Ayesha, you can perform the Istikhara yourself. Why do you need someone else to do it for you?

I went to sleep after that and I had a dream that this guy I know I am asking him when my work will be done and then he told me 10days It seemed so real was that a hint from Allah and do you think it will only be 10days and my husbands will get his visa. • Salam brother Zaheer

I have been reciting what you have told me but still no luck yet please pray for me also
and I have been praying for all of you guys to

        • Salam Sadia

Please know this that our knowledge and our wants are very short-sighted, and Allah is the one All Knowing, so just because we want somthng or we pray for it doesnot mean that its good for you or will benfit you. Allah(swt) only knows that. Secondly not all Dua's are answered or granted instantly. Again its Allah(swt) who knows the perfect time for acceptance. So please keep making Salah (not Namaz 🙂 🙂 keep praying and asking Dua and with a sincere intention Niyah and do good. Its very important that your entire day is spent in rememberence of Allah (swt) and refrain from wasting time in undesirable things and act. I know so many people who are makes all this Salat and Dua but the moment they leave the masjid or the musalah they go back to their old self of lieing, backbittting, gossiping and what not. So be carefull. Also it really helps if you ask as many people you can to make dua's for you. May Allah grant you whats best for you. Ameen!!!

  5. The so-called Salaat al-Haajah was narrated in da’eef (weak) or munkar (denounced) ahaadeeth – as far as we know – which cannot be used as proof and which are not fit to base acts of worship on.

    http://www.islamqa.com/en/ref/10387/Hajah

Please be careful brothers and sisters, which so calles scholar you ask and recite.

    May Allah protect you!

    • Jazaki Allah khayr sister for pointing it out. The article does actually mention that the hadith is weak. I will Insha'Allah add some articles on dua' which rely on authentic ahadeeth.

      • you know that dua for salaat al-Haajah I know you gave it in Arabic but its too small for me is there a slighter bigger version to pray in Arabic like could you send a link

  6. salam
i make a dua to ALLAH (swt) that all my family problems are solved.
And may ALLAH (swt) save me, my wife, and children from the evil tyrants and evil people who always try to cause harm , whether physically or verbally.
    Ameen.

Please all brothers and sisters also make dua for me that ALLAH (swt) accepts this dua from me.

  7. which dua would be used for deciding who to marry. I am stuck because i have two men asking for my hand one is from my family and the other is not. I am having a hard time with this because I do not know what to do and is scared from making a wrong choice. Would the istikhara be a better dua for me to say for deciding about marriage?

    • Dear Yasmean,

Istikhara is always highly recommended for any decision we make. At the same time, I will remind you to use the wisdom that Allah(swt) has blessed you with to make a good judgement of both proposal before you say 'I do'.

Do not choose your marriage partner because:

      - You are under pressure due to age, family, community or because you want children
      - Or because you feel lonely
      - Or for sexual needs

Choose your marriage partner because he fits the criteria you have. Everyone has a personal criteria with regards to jobs, looks etc. But as Muslims, some things are standard and Muhammed (saw) gives us the best example. Of course you must be attracted to your potential, plus: some of the traits we should look for in a spouse are:

      - Striving to be a good Muslim in Practice and in Character
      - Enjoys learning about and practising Islam
      - Has good manners
      - Respectful towards parents
      - Not arrogant but is humble
      - Does not lie
      - Is not flirtatious with women
      - Is true to his word
      - Has a calm temperament
      - Knows and understands the role and duties of a husband and wife

When the potential speaks - don't just hear, 'listen' to what he says through his body language, choice of words, tone of voice, and through facial expressions. You can tell alot about a person from these things.

So Yasmean, choosing the right husband may seem like window shopping or conducting a job interview at times, but it has to be done. Do not compromise any of your standards and do not brush any niggling feelings under the carpet; as they will come back to haunt you. Do not shy away from asking questions or researching into each person's past, afterall you are giving your future to this person. Allah has given us ways to protect ourselves - so use this knowledge to your benefit regardless of what anyone says.

Do this in conjunction with Istikhara and your normal Salaah and any voluntary acts of worship - that will draw you closer to Allah.

A beautiful dua in the Quran in Surah Furqan:

V74: "And those who say: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our spouses and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the Muttaqûn"

V75. Those will be rewarded with the highest place (in Paradise) because of their patience. Therein they shall be met with greetings and the word of peace and respect."

      Best Wishes,

      • Salaam brothers nd sister...
I also want to know which dua to make when u
Want to marry someone and convince your family to accept
him... I don't want to get forced marriage so pls
It will be very grateful if any brother or sister can
tell me a dua to make ... And also tell me how to pray
        Istikhara?

        Thank u

        • With the name of Allah, all the praise are due to Allah only, peace and blessing of Allah swt be on our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAWs. To proceed.

Dear sister. The best thing to do in your situation is to pray to Allah for His devine guidance, (Five regular prayers are enough). Arabic language has no magic in it, the magic is in the heart of momin or momina. Prophet SAWS said when you ask Allah swt for any favor, ask with confidence. Meaning if you ask than be sure that Allah swt will help. Secondly be careful that weather your relationship to the person is right or wrong, i don't mean to judge you but to tell you. If your heart is satisfied than tell the person to take his initiative to talk to his parents and you don't do anything except for dua. Allah is Musabib-Al-Asbab. So have full faith. Istikhara is also right way to get Allah's help. Do pray 2 cycle of istikhara and say the dua as mentioned in the site. You will InshaAllah get your answer sooner or later. And Allah knows best.

          Your brother in Islam

hope i got this website before my marriage. my ex husband has not a single qualities that u mention. So we seperated. In future i will take care of this. U are absolutely right these qualities are most important.

        • Make whatever choice you do, for the sake of Allah. Insha'Allah He(swt) will give you a way out of every difficulty, aameen.

    • As salaam-u alai kum,

Sadia, I hope your husband has received his visa by now? While browsing this forum I read what you had posted, regarding Allah not answering your asking and that you think he is mad at you ( Astaghfirullah).

If anyone compares Allah to any attritributes of human kind (e.g body, place, direction & mad) - then he is NOT a Muslim. Sadia... Whether you wrote that without actually meaning it OR that you were just depressed- this sentence has made you out of ISLAM. You should immediately witness again I.e say the Shahadah.

It is a big sin to compare Allah with any attributes that only befits humans.

Remember... Allah is the MOST Merciful and he knows whats best for you. The fundamental of belief is- to believe in Allah without any doubt.

      Barakallahu fiq.

      • Brother Yusuf.
I totally disagree with you, Sadia has just shown her frustration by saying that Allah is angry at her or not pleased with her. This is in no-way attributting to any shirk that you speak of. Allah (swt) does get upset, as well as pleased. Isn't our aim and goal in this world is to please Allah(swt)??? but that doesnot mean we are doing shirk or attributing the human qalities to Allah (swt) Allah is Raheem and we ask for his mercey, Allah is Razeeq and we ask for Rizq, Allah is Jabbar, the Compeller. So Brother Yusuf these are HIS very own attributes Asma-al Husna. That doesnot mean that we are saying that he is human atall. And also its rather harsh or not appropriate in our Deen to tell someone or condemn someone by saying that he or she is out of the deen and have to say Shahadh again. Again its not our place , Allah is All mercyfull and brother donot make the deen so hard. Its one of the easiest religion to follow. I am sure when Sadia uttered those words and her feelings it was out of despeartion and helplessness and Allah loves those who turns to him in need and in despair. I am sorry if I said somthing wrong and if I did its my shortcoming and I hope I didnot angered you or made upset; and if I did I apologize and I love you all for the sake of Allah(swt).

        • Salam Brother or Sister Shahab,

Thank you so much for your words. I really appreciated: some of us, instead of teaching Islam in the way our Prophet(saw) was doing, are always condamning people who need help. Allah(SWT) Alone knows the intention behind the words we use, so we have to stop interpreting muslims'words and stop putting them out of Islam because we think they have said this or that...

  10. plz tell me some dua for husbands love ,care and that he should listen to me

    • Sami,

I do not know of any specific duas to increase love between husband and wife but I will find some for you inshaAllah. You have asked for a good thing maashaAllah.

As for making your husband listen to you, we can't make anyone listen to us. Just some general advice though: Be kind, soft and gentle with your husband and inshaAllah he will warm towards you. When he is angry, try to be calm. When he returns from work, try to create a loving welcoming environment in your home. Make yourself look attractive for him. Ask Allah to put love, mercy and compassion in your hearts for each other. If you have any issues, try to deal with them 'with him' openly and honestly. Think of what you can do for him to make him happy and hopefully he will do the same. Of course this advice is for the relatively normal couple (I am sure the definition of 'normal' differs').

If you have a more specific question, please log in and submit it as a separate question.

i just want to know that is it ok to recite Ya Badi ul Ajaib Bil Khair Ya Badiu for hajat?
is dua ki haqeeqt islasm me h ya nahi?
esa naho ye dua padh k koi biddat hojae pls tellme iwd hadees
    jazakallah

    • Asalamalaikum sister.

Dua is not a bidah, but doing it with certain number is also not bidah, but it should be backed with sunnah, if not than don't do it. It can lead you stray away from right path, your dua maybe completed but it will not have that barakah which you don't know. So its better to pray in urdu or any language you know. And Allah knows best.

      Your brother in Islam

    • I googled this phrase to check if it has a meaning unknown to me - I found nothing.

Allah(swt) has already told us through the Quran and Sunnah about how to make dua and about how to find solutions to our issues. Why do people insist on ignoring the authentic information and revert to making up such stuff?

      SisterZ

      • @ Iram, Wael and SisterZ

Sr. Iram Googled the wrong word. (you get what you Google!!)

The word she needs is "Ya Wadood-o" which is one of Allah's blessed names, which people invoke to ask for Him to create love between a husband and wife.

        • Goodness me Serendipity, that thought came to my mind too.

Al-Wadood is one of Allah(swt)'s beautiful Names meaning 'Loving'. And yes, it is a good name to implore Allah by. But I dont agree with just chanting words and Names without understanding. Its important to understand what we are saying and doing.

          SisterZ
          IslamicAnswers.com Editor

    • this is ya "WADOOD" , name of ALLAH

  17. SisterZ: You are absolutely right - one has to put the effort to invoke based on the meaning of that quality of our Almighty Allah. Al wadood (or Al Wadud) means: "The Loving-Kindness, The Most Affectionate"

I like to invoke Allah in my duas based on what I am asking for - if I want him to forgive me, I beseech His quality of forgiveness and ask "Ya Ghafoor ur Raheem, please ---" etc. I think that is a better way than just counting His name on a tasbih a particular # of times, but then who are we to know what works with Him. he sees the neeyah for why we do things, and we should not judge someone for the action they take. We can only help by advising.

  18. Thank you Sisters for you answers and suggestions. But the word that was given was specifically 'YA BADOOD O' with a 'B'. We had never heard of this word either. That is why I asked the meaning. Later we found out it had something to do with making someone 'foolish'. As in Urdu, the word 'Boodhu'. So my relative stopped reciting it.

    • Sister Serendipity and Irum,
It's "Ya Ghafoor O Ya Raheem" not
"Ya Ghafoor ur Raheem" also their is no such word as "Ya Badood"; it is
"Ya Wadood":). So please make sure that you are saying (doing tusbih) the right word. Boodhu definitely means "foolish, stupid" etc in Urdu. Please check the sources where you receive your information; a lot of people have not idea what they are saying could be very offensive.

      Wasalam,

Wael: Sorry to post here because I did not know how else to reach you and it really is not a question - but I wanted to register for a long tome on Zawaj, but did not have the guts to tell you but now I will - I feel uncomfortable that a muslim marriage website started by you has "dating and friendship" as the 2 options! Could you please make it more "halal" - I don't now what else I will find, but thought it was important to give you the feedback. Thanks!

    • Working on it, Insha'Allah. I am not actually in full control of the matchmaking database anymore. I have a partner who manages it. However, my partner is working on some changes in response to my feedback.

        AOA
I need advice if I should contact someone for marriage proposal.
I am 25 year old, not married nor interested in anyone but I recently visited family and got to know about this person who is unmarried and not interested in anyone, he is in-law to my aunty, I don't know if I should contact him. He is a good practicing muslim and from good family.
If I should contact him, then is text message a better way to contact as he isn't in my city.
        JazakaAlla

        • Miss T, I suggest you contact your Aunt and tell her of your interest. She can speak to the man for you and see if he shares your interest. If you need further advice, please log in and write your question as a separate post, thank you.

  20. May be the guy meant to say Yaa Badii-u! What do u think? Allah knows best. Asalaam alaikum.

  21. The Best duas are the 99 names of allah. Each name of ALLAH has meaning and anything you ever need this 99 names has it. Allah is the greatest of all gods. all you have to do is be true to yourself and ask ALLAH for help. This ramadan i found this CD that has the 99 names of allah and i have heard the URDU and Arabic meanings i tell you, it shocked me to know whatever you need anything all you have to do is ask ALLAH. I have told so many people about this and ma-shallah they are all listening to it. ALL by learning 99 names of ALLAH byheart, and reciting it everyday, this will open the door to heaven without any questions asked.

Lets stay together as islam and spread the love of Muslims all over the world.

    • There is ONLY ONE GOD - Allah. I know you meant no disrepect but what you wrote in the second line is Shirk. Please correct this immediately.
Editor please take appropriate step if not corrected soon.
      May Allah(swt) forgive us all.

Just wanting to find out a powerful dua or ayat to read for exam results, or exams in general.

    jazakAllah.

  28. In this article it says ' [Related by Tirmidhi and Ibn Maja. The hadith has some weakness, but such hadiths are acted upon for virtuous deeds (fada'il al-a`mal) by general agreement of Sunni scholarship]' if this dua for salat al hajah wrong, would we get gunna, coz u said its from a weak source, and now that we know that its from a weak source and is not backed up with a stronger hadith, would it right for us to perform salat al hajah? Can u plz explain it. in the article says that sunni scholars have come to an agreement on it being ok, but how did they come to an agreement from a weak source?

  29. Please i need a hadith or any evidence that says the Imam in prayers should be the only person whose voice is suppose to be heard not the Ahdan?

  30. What's up, this weekend is fastidious designed for me, for the reason that this point in time i am reading this enormous informative post here at my residence.

  31. Salamu alikum,

I don't know why i am bothering with writing this because I feel that whatever happens is all in the hands of Allah and i shouldn't be wasting time worrying about signs and all. Excuse me that sounds a bit arrogant or anything like that because that is not what i was trying to sound like. I am just a little curious i guess because i never performed ishtikara namaz before and i did this one time.

I only prayed ishtikara a month ago and just now i realized that i had a very pleasant dream about the other person whom i included the ishtikara for but MAYBE that could just be because i probably was thinking about that person before i fell asleep. I know and i realize that for ishtikara namaz we don't NEED to see any dream.
But the thing that i am really confused about is that I see this persons name somewhere everyday. I don't think there is a day that i did not see his named appear anywhere that i looked. I tried to ignore it so much, but i keep seeing this persons name everywhere. I'm just curious even though this could all just be a coincidence. I'm just a little confused, however I am not worried I rest assured that everything is in God's hands and I know He is watching out for me and looking over me. Alhumdulliah.

  32. Salaam brothers nd sisters 🙂
Pls I really need help I've been with my BF for

    • Asalam 3aleekum
      Bis Allah al-Rahman al-Raheem
Allah humaa salee wa Salem 3alaa saeedna Mohamed
I just wanted to let everyone that will read know that I have read this in a hadeeth .. ” Praise Allah and use Allah’s names, send salaam to Prophet (SAW) then you make Dua. (Best name- Allah, Al Hayy, Al Qayuum)
Raise your hands up to Allah, palms with your hands and together, to your chest level. For an extreme case raise them up higher and separate hands with armpits showing.
When someone raises his hands to Allah, Allah feels shy to let those hands come back without giving him what he asks. For” I really loved it when I read it so I wanted to share it with you . And also I ask Allah to answer all your duas
And guide us all thru the right path. I ask you to please please make dua for I am in a situation where something is going on in my family where they are all mad at me . And I love this peron and he also loves me back and it is true love and we want to get married 3alaa sinat Allah wi rasoolah .. He wants to come and ask for my hand but because of what is going on in my family I’m afraid he will be rejected .. So please I really really need your duas please who ever reads this please make duaa for me that allah will solve eveythibg between me and my family and also that allah will let me marry whom I love . I am really in the need of duaa at this time . So thank you so much . And I will make duaa for everyone that will ask because I know how it really feels ..
And is there any particular dua to read to ask Allah to give you whom u want ..
And I also heard in a hadeeth that a dua will be answered when a Muslim brother or sister makes for her or his brother/sister In Islam .. Sorry I know that's alot .. But I really need help

  35. Salam everyone.
    I needed your help.
I am in love with a girl and we intend to get married. But my mother performed Salat-ul-Istikhara and she didnt get a clear answer but she says it's slightly inclined towards a no.
So I dont know what to do.
Do I pray myself and see what the answer is.
And what if the answer is no? Will it be a sin if I still marry the girl? I know the girl for a long time and dont really want to lose her.
I really need some help here, so please help me.
    Regards,
    Hashim.

If you want to recite something athentic, recite your morning and evening dhikr:

Al Baadi - The Originator, this is one of the 99 known Names of Allah(swt). Instead of chanting without meaning, learn the meaning of Allah's Names and call upon Him using the Name that is relevant to your need.

        • Ariba,

Life doesnt work that way - that you read a magic wazifa and hey presto, you get what you want. Read this link on power of Dua in Islam: http://www.zawaj.com/askbilqis/dua-in-islam/

At the same time, figure out what obstacles are preventing you from reaching what you want and work on those. If you have tried and things are not changing, it may be time for you to change your direction. If you have any further questions, please log in and sumbit them as a separate post, preferably in English please. Thank you.

  37. Salam alaykum, i really enjoyed your webside. May Allah continued her blessing upon you and your organisation. Amen. Jaza kun llahu khairah.

  38. i am about to get engaged to a nice muslim brother. i am an american convert...i have concerns about his overbearing ways at times. i am marring him because i respect his character, his deen, his knowledge and love for Islam, his family views, etc. And i know his intentions are hilal and alhamduillah he is a good man. But little things like commenting on once we get married he will pick out my clothes, show me how to wear my hijabs better, give me fashion advice and decorating ideas..i find a tad bit odd. Is this normal? i am used to being on my own for so long and finding it hard to give up certain freedoms...do we as woman get to keep some of our own identity or is it lost once you get married???

    • Kareema,

Of course we Muslim women keep our identity, we don't change our names do we? Only you know if your fiance is saying this stuff to you in a 'light hearted' way or in a 'controlling' way. May be he likes certain colours and fashions, but just let him know that you like the way you dress and don't want many changes! But be light hearted about it Sis. If you feel that he really is being obsessively serious about it, then stop him and question him now. You don't want to find out after you marry that your hubby is a Gok Wan ;O).

      IslamicAnswers.com Editor

  39. @ Kareema
Sorry, sis...that IS odd, and not related to him being muslim. I think he is a control freak. You should NOT lose your identity just bec you married someone - your husband does not OWN you. You respect and belong TOGETHER but not OWN each other. I would wait before tying the knot and think things very carefully before going ahead. I see red flags.

        • Sister,

All I can tell you is what I know and which you probably already know too. When we are tested, Allah(swt) wants us to become closer to Him. So improve your obligatory acts of worship first: Purify your intentions. Take care to do your wudu properly. Improve and establish your Salaah well, make personal dua in sujood and after Tashahhud but before you complete your Salaah. Recite Quran with understanding and try to implement it. Increase in your good deeds.

Call on Allah(swt) by His beautiful Names: “O Alive and everlasting One, I beseech You by Your mercy.” (Mustadrak Hakim) (In Arabic: 'Ya Hayyu, Ya Qayumu...')

“O Allah, I hope for Your mercy, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs for even the blink of an eye and rectify for me all my affairs. Besides You there is none worthy of worship”. (Hisnul Hasin)

See the links below for more duas and dhikr to help you connect with Allah:

  52. plz i want the dua to read not about the lawyer

  53. salam!

I have been married since Feb 2012 and have been going through so much!
My husband has a bad temper and hates when people try to tell him what to
do no matter who that person is. He is a really sweet guy
and has a big heart, but sometimes his anger gets the better
of him. He controls every movement of mine but yet I can accept that
because I work when I want to and where the clothes I want to.
But I cannot stand the part where he has no respect or manners for my parents.
and he has been like this before and after marriage. I lived with his
family and he didnt treat me like a wife there. His family was
always insulting me indirectly, insulting my family, treating me like an outcast
when my husband was not home, controlling everything from
what i should do, wear and have my room like. i had no privacy at all
and my life with my husbad was everybodys business. My husband was
always influenced by his family and they would join him and make him get mad at me,
pick on little things, mistreat me by swearing at me and hitting me.
i love my husband more than anything in the world, but i couldn't
stand that environment. i used to cry every night. he even hit me when we were on our honeymoon
i havent seen a day of happiness since i got married. last time he hit me, my dad called the police
on him. so now i live with my family and he is with his. he has a restraining order so he cannot talk or see me.
i am going completely insane. my heart cannot take any more of this. its just way
too much for a fragile woman like me to deal with. its been 1.5 months and we are both
going absolutely crazy without the other 🙁 because of his pride, he is not getting a
place for us to live separate and have this case finished with.
he says that i have to come back first and then we will search together.
and then we will move out right away. i have trust in him but i cannot see
myself walking back into that house that made me cry every night. and after
everything that has happened, all the help my parents have gave , i cannot
go back. i trust my husband but not his family. there is so mich but i cannot say them all..otherwise
you would all know why they shouldnt be trusted and why they wrre wrong and not me.
i want my husband back right away. please tell me what to do for allah to
listen to my prayers! what dua is best for making my husband
fix our life the right way. what is the right way?? living the way i did
is harram in islam..to be sad and depressed ad be constantly attacked and insulted by your husband
because he is always listening to his family. please help me and pray for me during namaz.

I have recently submitted my husbands visa and I want to know ig there is a wazifa I Could read.

    • Sister...why do you need a wazifa? You have taken the practical steps towards applying for your husband's visa. Now continue doing your obligatory acts of worship and make dua and leave the outcome to Allah(swt).

I do not understand why people are not satisfied with obligatory acts of worship and with making dua? This is what we must do, not make up other things.

  55. Sa dear brothers and sisters in islam, I would appreciate some advice on what to do in my present situation with my husband. Our marriage is breaking apart and I know deep down I don't want this to happen. I love my husband of 13 years dearly and do not want to make a wrong design that could make me regret and make my 3 kids whom adore their father hate me.My husband has cheated on me a few times and just recently I have found a number of a women whom he chats with all the time. I also caught him calling same number 2 years ago.I don't have no solid proof of any physical adultery being committed by the 2 of them. It's been 10 days since confronting him with the evidence and now he does not talk to me nor do we share the same bed. I feel so depressed and alone. I have prayed salat al istikhara 3 times and in each dream my husband avoids me as in real life. I am not sure if this is a sign from Allah swt to divorce my husband.can anyone please shed some light on my problem. I can't go on living this life. Thank you Jazak Allah !

    • Salam
I am so sorry to hear of your situation. Divorce is not the answer to this problem, this word is really disliked by Allah (swt) So please try not to think in that direction. As you said deep down you really donot want it. You have kids to think about. Now I am man and I know my kind.If you husband is just chatting with some or few women or even calling them doesnot mean he is having affair in the true meaning of the sense. Unless you have a concrete evidence you really shouldnot jump to any conculsions. Unfortunately we men live in a fantasy world and most of are dreaming or have a double life and standard. But one thing I do know that at the end of the day we all come back home to our families. Not to say that its right, absolutely not,but we are very fickle and weak when it comes to women. Not as strong and faithfull as women. So please give your husband benefit of doubt and try to work it out. One advice that might work, have a face to face talk, not a confrontation rather saying that "Lets start new" go out for coffee or Icecream or a movie or just walk in the park; just two of you. Another thing that works for men and I apologize for saying this or being so informal is try to please him better or should I say Spice up your love life in ur bedroom. Be little bold and imaginative. We love that, specially when you r married so long. Change things a little, change the atmosphere, cloths, methods. Once again I really really apologize for being so candid or not in line with Islamic talk. My intentions are pure and May Allah forgive me if i crossed my islamic boundries. I wish and pray that you both are together and happly married forever. PLEASE TRY YOUR BEST NOT TO GET DIVORCED. May Allah (swt) guide your husband and you to do the right thing.

  65. i always study more than other but never get success......a always plays game with my spirit but always i am
losser....i am not happy with my luck .....plz give some ISLAMIC guidance to improve my luck.

    • There is no 'luck' in Islam. Whatever happens is the Will of Allah. So if you have tried your best to study and you don't get your desired results, see if you do anything differently that will improve your grades. If after trying, you still don't get your desired grades, accept this as the Will of Allah.

My cousin studied Medicine but after 4 years of hard work, he failed one module. He re-sat and unfortunately failed by just 2%. How frustrating huh? Well since then, he has worked with his dad and excelled in his married life. Now another 4 years later, he has enrolled on a 4 year medical degree again. He has to pay and study all over again. His attitude is this: That, Alhumdulillah Allah has given him the opportunity to try to be a practicing doctor again, so he will try his best. If he passes this time, Alhumdulillah but if he fails again, still Alhumdulillah and he will accept that as the Will of Allah.

  66. Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh

This man Faraz Rabbani is a mushrik from Ahlul Bidah Wal Firqah. I'm not trying to be a super refuter here. It's pretty simple.

    1) The man justifies making dua to other than Allah. That means mushrik.

    2) The man is pretty cool with bidah.

    3) There have been questions on doing istikharah through someone else and they have been rebutted-subhanAllah, yet there is an article on this site by the mushrik Faraz Rabbani which justifies that very act!

Even the people who once supported Faraz Rabbani now reject him because of that insane fatwa of his where he literally justifies calling upon other than Allah azza wa jal? Is there anyone who is more of a mushrik than him?

    • Gibran, wa alaykum as-salam,

There are aspects of Shaykh Faraz Rabbani's aqeedah that I disagree with.

However, it is unacceptable for you to call him a mushrik. You are not a scholar and you do not have the right to toss about such extreme and inflammatory labels.

Aren't you aware of the hadith of the Prophet (sws) that if someone calls someone a kafir, and he is not, then the label returns to the one who said it? Don't you fear such consequences if you are wrong?

As for the article on this page, I do not see anything inappropriate or wrong in it.

      • Ok Wael so I have a question.

Some so called "scholar" commits shirk and calls to shirk and I am supposed to view this as an acceptable difference? There is even a fatwa from Mufti Ibrahim Desai making it clear whoever does such an action is a total mushrik.

And "However, it is unacceptable for you to call him a mushrik. You are not a scholar and you do not have the right to toss about such extreme and inflammatory labels."
Since when does one need to be a scholar to differentiate between shirk and tawheed? Takfir is the right of every Muslim. Why do we have a Quran declaring shirk and we can't speak against it unless we are scholars? Which scholar ever said that?

Sorry, I really don't understand. This isn't a matter of aqeedah. This is literally shirk and tawheed. What would you say to a person who worships Shiva and calls himself a Muslim? That you need a scholar to call that person a Mushrik?

        • There is no need for scholarship to differentiate shirk from tawheed of Allah Izza wa Jal, but THERE IS for declaring a person Mushrik or a Kaafir.

I have read about ibn Taymiyyah Rahimahullah that when he met people who did Kufr, he said: doing this is kufr, but I will not call you Kaafir.

As stated by brother Wael, if such a label is a mistake, then it will be applicable to the accuser. So brother, say such and such a person does wrong and his words are unreliable, instead of saying he is a Mushrik. I do not know Faraz Rabbani, but even if he does Shirk, what if he does tawbah while you are saying he is Mushrik? Will the accusation not bounce back on you according to the Hadith?

When a person does Kufr and Shirk, Ulama prove it and warn him. Then if he does not return, he is declared a Kaafir.

For example, there is this famous man in the subcontinent who disbelieves in Dajjal, Ya'juj and Ma'juj, Isa Alaihis Salam's return, al Mahdi, etc. and has written a tafseer of Quran, leading many people astray. Ulama warn against him, but I haven't heard any of them say: he is Kaafir, because they fear Allah, His Judgement. I have heard them say: "such words reach the level of Kufr and such a person must be warned and his evil proven, before declaring him a Kaafir", and this is not my job or your job. It is that of the Ulama.

          • Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh

Ok, well this smacks of pure shirk(oxymoron), not just bidah, pure shirk.

This isn't the only website or forum that I went where Faraz Rabbani was totally exposed for being a mushrik.

And takfir is the right of every Muslim inshaa Allah. If I see a Christian I'm not going to wait for some alim to call him a takfir or if I see some Muslim making dua to other than Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

If the ulema don't do their job, I'm not going to sit around and wait for them.

            http://www.islamic-life.com/forums/deviants-heretics/sunni-path-fatawa-allowing-shirk-471
Sufi mushrik shaykh Fraza Rabbani busted for promoting shirk and lying against Pakistani Mufti Taqi Usmani (Uthmani - deobandi hanafi).

We have already showed his kufr idea of promoting shirk: Sunni Path Fatawa Allowing Shirk

The outright mushrik says that it is permissible to call upon other than Allah if one believes that only Allah will help the person whom is called upon. We ask him how this beliefe is different from the mushrikeen of Makka? In addition, he lied against Mufti Taqi Uthmani and attributed a false statement to him. Let us read what this mushrik said and Mufti Taqi's response:

            Quote:

Or you can do so because you believe that it is Allah who would make them hear (based on primary texts that affirm this) and that it is Allah who would accept their intercession and that it is Allah who would grant the desired matter or benefit. And how is this “shirk” ? And if shirk, are we deeming a great percentage of the leading scholars of Islam, early and late, to be mushriks? (And, if not, why don’t we tone down our rhetoric?)

This is a legal matter. Calling upon other than Allah is permitted when done with sound beliefs–that it is Allah who conveys the calling, and that it is Allah who answers. In this sense, it is no different than asking someone for du`a’. It is not permitted when in a specific case someone has wrongful beliefs–and sometimes the `ulama’ have discouraged or even disallowed this when wrongful beliefs or understandings became widespread or prevalent. However, in such cases, the `ulama’ would distinguish between the contingent disapproval and the intrinsic permissibility.

I asked Mufti Taqi Usmani about this matter of istighatha (calling on other than Allah), and his response was that this calling is either absolute or relative. In absolute terms, only Allah can be called, as the ultimate giver of all benefit. In relative terms, others can be called upon, if the beliefs of the caller are sound. He said that this is how we understand the istighatha found in the words and poetry of the great scholars and righteous of Islam. His position, however, is that caution is required in this–and that he and the scholars of his school of thought discourage the common person from this, due to widespread ignorance and the need for caution (rather than intrinsic impermissibility). I asked: So what if someone does it, but with sound beliefs? He responded: Then they cannot be condemned. [Amman, 2006]

    • More than likely you yourself are a mushrik for holding the Wahabi belief that Allah is in a particular direction.

The Hanafi Muslim scholar Ali al-Qari stated that:

“A whole group of them [the Salaf] as well as of the Khalaf scholars [later scholars], said:

“The one who believes in a direction [for Allah] is a blasphemer (kafir), as has been clearly narrated by al-’Iraqi when he said “This is the saying of Abu Hanifa, Malik, Al-Shafi’i, al-’Ashari and al-Baqillani””

      [Mirqat al-Mafatih, Sharh Mishkat al-Masaabih vol.3 p.300]

Whereas the "scholar" of the Wahabi cult, Ibn Baz stated that,

"the Companions and those who followed them in excellence - they assert a direction for Allah, and that is the direction of height, believing that the Exalted is above the Throne."

  69. I have had someone stalking me for years and making my life a misery. This person was taking things I was saying in my own home and gossiping widely with people who worship Iblis/Shaytan and who will contaminate anyone who annoys them. Others will lie about you and falsely accuse you if someone gossips about you so I have been subject to false accusations and even physical attacks ( chemical). I suffered with my eyes and ears and I am frightened for my life because of this stalker.

Can people please pray for me that God will keep me safe from this dangerous individual?

    • We can pray that Allah will keep you safe. However, you should also take concrete steps. Separate yourself from that person completely. Don't spend any time with him/her, don't talk to him or friend him on Facebook, and change your phone number and even move if necessary. If it continues, document it and notify the police.

    • Hey suhail brother this may sound wrong to some propel I know that we shouldn't believe it but
the only thing you can try is to do a "taweez" on him so he can
leave her, however first of all you should pray to Allah and read Quran couple of times
If she is the right girl and your the right boy for her then Allah will
definately make you guys together inshallah.

      • Salaams,

One can't "do a taweez" on someone else. What you are talking about sounds like casting a spell, which is haraam for Muslims to do. Real "taweez" are generally necklaces or paper printouts of duas or Quranic verses that people use to protect themselves from jinn and other evil things, but the use of them is highly controversial and considered to be a bidah by many.

        • Yes taweez is haram but I didn't explain it well, but i did say that we shouldn't believe it. The reason I said do taweez on him is because Where I'm from
I've seen people using verses from Quran and they write it on a piece of paper
and then wrapping it or sewing in a fabric and putting as a neckless or around their wrist, so back home this is what we call taweez...which some people say it worked on them. I am sorry if I am still wrong I just said what I know maybe I will learn more about the side effects and the haramness of these things in here inshallah.

  78. If i need something badly, is it acceptable in Islam to ask Allah to fulfill that need and for which i'll pray nafl salah for having it fulfilled?

    • AsSalaamu Alaikum,

Praying Nafl (as extra prayers beyond your regular prayers) is in and of itself not for asking Allah for fulfillment of our needs in the basic level, but for growing more closer to Allah, even though asking Allah through it for anything good of this Dunya and Akhirah, is recommended.

It's not advisable for us to wait till when we are in need of something badly, before we start to pray nafl. As doing so will mean that we were doing it for the sake of that thing and not for the sake of Allah. A person whose habit is to pray Nafl all the time, is more closer to his/her du’as being answered than the person who does not pray nafl except when he/she is need of something of the Dunya.

Usually, those who get closer to Allah through nafl, feel the reality of yaqeen , as they can feel the acceptance of their du’as at anytime when they pray, so they would rather pray for the best in Akhirah or pray to Allah to take care of their Dunya and Akhirah needs, without them mentioning a particular need of the Dunya.

When one tastes the reality of yeqeen, they would have more courage and strength (out of love for Allah) to proceed to attaining the complete tawakkul (the complete reliance on Allah). If one has the complete tawakkul, and then asks Allah for something, Allah gives them more than what they have requested as a Mercy from Him for them, as it was in the case of Prophet Ayyub (s.a.w.s).

Yaqeen is the key for accepted du'as.

Yaqeen is also the key for the Ismullahil-A'dhom (Allah’s greatest name), the one of which if Allah is called by it He answers, and the one of which if Allah is asked by it He grants.

There are many beautiful names of Allah in the Holy Quran and Hadiths, which we have been promised that Allah will answer our du'as, when we call upon Him by them.

However, the question is, why is it that we try them many times, yet we don't see any result?

The answer is that, we have lost their keys, and their keys are in yaqeen (certainty), and the key to yaqeen is in the increase our iman, and the best way to increase our iman is through nawaafil (doing zikr, reading the Holy Quran, praying extra day/night salahs, giving sadaqah etc are all nawaafl), and the key to a successful nawfl is first, to follow the rules of Allah (by doing what He has command us to do, and abstaining from what He has warned us against), and second is to work towards Ikhlas (sincerity - it is doing things/nafl/ibadah wholeheartedly for the sake of Allah and keeping them between you and Him). If anyone reaches the complete tawakkul, will certainly receive the key of Ismullahil-A'dhom.

Ibn Kathir mentioned in his Quran interpretation discussed about the Ismullahil-A'dhom by saying, “Imam Ahmad recorded that Asma' bint Yazid bin As-Sakan said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s) say about these two Ayats, “Allah! None has the right to be worshipped but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists” (Quran 2: 255) and “Alif-Lam-Mim. Allah! None has the right to be worshipped but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists” (Quran 3: 1-2). And he (s.a.w.s) said they contain Allah's Greatest Name (Ismullahil-A'dhom ).

Further, Ibn Marduwyah recorded that Abu Umamah reported that the Prophet (s.a.w.s) said, “Allah's Greatest Name (Ismullahil-A'dhom ), if He was supplicated with it, He answers the supplication, is in three Surahs - Al-Baqarah (Quran 2), Al `Imran (Quran 3) and Ta-Ha (Quran 20)

Hisham bin `Ammar, the Khatib (orator) of Damascus (one of the narrators in the above narration), said, "As for (the Ismullahil-A'dhom in) Al-Baqarah, it is (in the Ayah), “Allah! None has the right to be worshipped but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists” (Quran 2:255) and in Al `Imran, it is in the Ayah, “Alif-Lam-Mim. Allah! None has the right to be worshipped but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists” (Quran 3:1-2) while in Ta-Ha, it is in the Ayah, “And (all) faces shall be humbled before (Allah), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exist” (Quran 20:111)

Now, how can we see the effectiveness of those greatest names of Allah when we call upon Allah by them?

First all, my understanding of the Ismullahil-A'dhom is not about the written names in and of themselves, but it is the Iman (believe) in their reality. For example, do we really believe that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that He is the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists? If we say “Yes”, does this believe have any outcome in our daily life activities (such as abstaining from haram and engaging in what is halal)? If “No”, then we have lost the key of Allah’s greatest name. But if “Yes”, then we have got the key to feel the reality of Allah’s greatest name, and we are now entitled to call upon Allah by any name among His known names to us, and Allah will surly answer our du’as and grant us anything we request for at anytime.

When a servant has the key of Allah’s greatest name, He feels the greatness of Allah, and therefore sees the greatness of Allah in the entire beautiful names of Allah, as all names of Allah are the same in greatness. However, part of the wisdom behind why some particular names of Allah were mentioned by the Prophet (s.a.w.s) as being Allah’s greatest name is that, those mentioned names contain some significant basic believes that must be attained by the servants of Allah, through which will make them grow closer to Allah gradually, and understand Him very well ultimately. When you are close to someone, you get to understand them better, and when you understand them very well, it becomes easier for you to get anything you want from them.

      Allah says (s.a.w)

"To Allah belong the Most Beautiful Names, so call Him by them…" (Quran 7: 180)

“Say, “Call Him God (yaa Allah), or call Him the Most Merciful (Yaa Rahman). Whichever name you use, to Him belong the Best Names.” And be neither loud in your prayer, nor silent in it, but follow a course in between (Ikhlas). And say, “Praise be to Allah, who has not begotten a son, nor has He a partner in sovereignty, nor has He an ally out of weakness, and glorify Him constantly.” (Quran 17: 110-111)

In the above Ayahs, Allah is telling us to call upon Him by any of His beautiful names, as they are all the same in His sight. However, at the end of the Ayahs, Allah mentioned the key to making any of His beautiful names work for us. He said, “And be neither loud in your prayer, nor silent in it, but follow a course in between (Ikhlas). And say, “Praise be to Allah, who has not begotten a son, nor has He a partner in sovereignty, nor has He an ally out of weakness, and glorify Him constantly.”

When we observe this key or the Ayahs (Quran 17: 110-111) and the Ayahs (Quran 2:255/ Quran 3:1-2/ Quran 20:111) in the hadith of the Prophet (s.a.w.s) about the Ismullahil-A'dhom, we will notice that those Ayahs in the hadith and the Ayah here contain meanings that lead to the same destination, and the other unmentioned names of Allah could also be understood from the mentioned names in the Ayahs, which indicate that what is meant by the Ismullahil-A'dhom is to have the complete believe and yaqeen in the greatness of Allah, the Almighty.

The Prophet (s.a.w.s) said, “Pray to Allah while you feel yaqeen (certain) of an answer. And know that Allah does not answer a prayer from an indifferent, playful heart.” [Tirmidhi 3490]

He (s.a.w.s) said again, "Al-Ihsan is to worship Allah (with yaqeen) as though you see Him, and though you do not see Him, you feel that He sees you.” [Sahîh al Bukhârî and Sahîh Muslim]

Again, the Prophet (s.a.w.s) said, "If you put your whole trust in Allah (twakkul), as you ought, He most certainly will satisfy your needs, as He satisfies those of the birds. They come out hungry in the morning, but return full to their nests." (Tirmidhi)

The Prophet (s.a.w.s) narrated that Allah has said (in Hadith Kudsi): “Verily Allah ta'ala has said : Whosoever shows enmity to a wali (friend) of Mine, then I have declared war against him. And My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more loved to Me than the religious duties I have obligated upon him. And My servant continues to draw near to me with nawaafil (supererogatory) deeds until I Love him. When I Love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, and his sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him; and were he to seek refuge with Me, I would surely grant him refuge.” (Sahih Bukhari)

Allah (s.w.t) says, "Unquestionably, God’s friends have nothing to fear, nor shall they grieve. Those who believe and are aware. For them is good news in this life, and in the Hereafter. There is no alteration to the words of Allah. That is the supreme triumph." (Quran 10: 62-64)

Allah (s.w.t) says again, “…It is incumbent on Us to help the believers.” (Quran 30: 47)

So, if anyone asks me, what the key of Ismullahil-A'dhom is? My understanding is that, it is one’s yeqeen in the divine-self. And the more one proceed to tawakkul, the more the doors of Ismullahil-A'dhom get opened for that person. There is a tawkkul before attaining yaqeen, which is while a person undergo a certain trial of Allah, and then try to leave everything behind him/her to focus on Allah alone. And there is another tawakkul, which comes after attaining yaqeen, which is while the person is focusing on Allah, and they got the chance to ask Allah to remove the trial on them, but yet they still wanted to proceed to the higher level of tawakkul.

Sorry, I know you didn’t ask for all this, but I just felt like to write something. Perhaps, it may be useful to me myself and to someone, Insha’Allah.

So in answer to your question, “YES” you can pray nafl and ask Allah for anything you want. However, my advice is that we should always be praying the nafl for the sake of Allah before praying it for requesting something, or before any need approaches us. It is a good thing to ask Allah for something through your nafl, if praying nawaafil for the sake of Allah is what you have been doing already. However, not praying Nawaafil, until only when you are in need is not a sin, but is not a proper way of communication between a servant and his Lord.

May Allah ease the way of iman and ihsan for us all! Ameen.

      Allah knows best.

i would like to know (because i've seen many people do it), is it permissible to ask Allah for a favour for which you intend to pray nafl prayers AFTER He has granted it to you? Because some say it's acceptable and others just consider it to be a sort of bargaining with God.
For instance, is it right if I say ''I shall pray 10 rakaahs if I pass in the finals''. is this wrong?

        • Assalaamualaikam

That just doesn't make sense to me, I'm afraid. Allah is omnipotent, omniscient... Saying "if you do this then I'll do that" doesn't make sense - who are we to think we can negotiate or bargain with Allah? What He wills, will be.

Your Creator is calling you to come near Him for your happiness and success in this life and the next, and you are saying you want the happiness and success, before you can accept His Call! 81. El salam alikoum brothers ans sisters

I love someone, and we are planning to get engaged in the summer inshallah (he lives abroad)
so i prayed istikhara twice about if that person will be a good husband for me . the first time was back in last summer, and i felt very comfortable and was smiling for no reason.
Now because we are having some problems because of the distance.. ect, i prayed salat isitkhara yesterday.
i dreamt that i was in our living room with my family, and i had to mobile phones (the same) in my hand ( i've only got one phone) and this person started to call me with a number from my country ( not his foreign number), and on both phones. i answered and pretended in front of my parents that someone was calling the wrong number.
then when i went to my room, my mother came after me, took my phone and called him, ( iwas hoping he won't answer or say that he called the wrong number), he answered and my mother asked him, who was he, and he said that he wanted to come and ask for my hand.
    Then i woke up
can you please help me because i'm very confused. Is this a good or bad sign ??
    Jazakoum allah khayran

    • Salaams,

  82. Asalamualaikum. I'm a very lonely person whom no one respects among my relative circle.unfortunately feel.sorry to say this but I feel I have never been able to receive the love and affection I deserve. But whenever I'm out among a non family background I have received a lot respect.this has left me in doutbt . I have tried recited duas for respect but in vain.please advice.

    • Maybe you need to stop seeking respect from your family. Accept your family for who they are, and be grateful you have friends that give you what you need.
Dua does not change other people. Dua changes YOU.

    • waheeda, i feel the same way. and its not feeling i know my family doesnot respect me they only approach me because I can be of some use to them (financially). this includes my mom too.
it does hurt and breaks ones heart.

we dont have any control on other peoples thinking or behaviour. we only have control over our reponse.

if it helps, ihave started keeping myself to myself. i havent cut off from family but i dont go far and beyond my capacity. i spend time with people who make me feel good.

my advise. stop seeking respect from family. first respect yourself and be with friends who respect you.

take care my sister. dont get consumed in what others think of you life is too short for it. if you do ,do a good deeed for family and that results in disrecpect then just stop doing it for them, do it for allah and seek reward and respect from him. i feel a lot better when i think this way and doing good to family who does not appreciate and respect me ,it becomes a bit easier still to carry on doing good.

  83. If i do Istikhara seven days continously and see different dreams, then how to make a decision ?

    • Assalaamualaikam

Istikhara is not based on dream interpretation. There are some good resources available on this site (see the menu at the top of the page) - it might help for you to read these to improve your understanding.

      • Dear Editor

Thank you for the guidance. I had Istikhara continuously for six days. For five days, i woke up very happy and satisfied and the first thing came to my mind is to 'GO' for the task (i.e. education abroad).

I am bad in remembering dreams. But what i can remember is that i saw fishes and ducks / penguins (something like that) singing in water; i saw running water, green fields, beasutiful animals, trees, etc. Once, i also saw a small yellow rabbit and i couldn't catch it (it disappeared). I also saw one old friend of father meeting me after a very long time and took me for lunch near Jummah time, he also praised me.

Since i am not so good in Islamic dreams interpertation, what do you advice in above referred case and how valid is getting out Faal from Quran ?

        Thanks alot.

  84. Asalamu alikum warematullahi wabarakatuhu, I have been doing istikhara for about 2 days now and I had a dream today, in my dream I saw a very very beautiful scenery of mountains and I kept saying subhan'Allah and couldn't resist not to. After a while I looked around and saw the kabah (from a height) then I was just about to make dua to Allah about my intention and the reason why I'm doing the istikhara for. When I was just about to, people start shooting and I get scared and start wondering what's happening. Then I woke up. Can you kindly please tell me about what this dream means and if it has any relation with my istikhara? I am doing my isitikhara for a spouse which I like. To see if he is better and good for me in my religion, my life and my end (akhira) so please let me know. Jazak'Allah khair.

    • Salaams,

We cannot interpret dreams on this site. Please read our article on istikhara on the main page for more details about this prayer.

    • Salaams,

We offer islamic advice and support on this website. We do not make dua for something to happen or not happen. Allah has written for you whatever He has willed, I suggest you trust in His guidance while trying to submit to Him in your daily endeavors.

  91. I am facing one of the worst situation of my life. Where ever i go for a good it becomes the worst. Kindly tell me about any wazifa that i could understand why this is happening.
And also for how i could be free of it.
    Thanks sir.

    • AsSalaamu 'Alailikum Unsar,

May Allah ease your difficulties. Ameen.

Please know that there is no such thing as wazifa in Islam. There is only dua's and adhkar which are recommended in the Holy Quran and Sunnah. Please follow the two links below to learn more:

      http://www.zawaj.com/askbilqis/wazifa-in-islam/

      http://www.zawaj.com/askbilqis/dua-in-islam/

      -----------------------------------

You may also benefit from the following du'as from the Sunnah:

      1. "Allaahumma, a'inni alaa dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni 'ibaadatik (O Allah, help me remember You, to be grateful to You, and to worship You in an excellent manner)." After each salah (Abu Daw’ud)

      2. "Allaahumma, rahmataka arju, falaa takilni ilaa nafsee torfata 'aynin, wa aslih li sha'ni kullahu, laa ilaaha illaa Anta (O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye, and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshiped except You)". (Abu Daw’ud)

      3. "Allaahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-Ḥuzni wal-'ajazi wal-kasli wal-bukhli wal-jubni wa ḍalaEid-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijal (O Allah, I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men)". (Sahih Bukhari and others)

  93. Asalam o alakium
I offered Salat e Hajat few times, i started it in Ramzan but still i am not getting any positive result. I don't want to be sinful but i am losing hope now. I know i am not that patient Muslim. What should i do?

    • Allah SWT is not a vending machine, where you put in the currency (dua') and the result pops out. Allah answers every dua', but not always in the way you expect. It may be that the thing you are asking for is not good for you. Do your best to achieve your goals and dreams, and accept what Allah gives you.

    • Teresa, please educate yourself about Istikhara. Read all of the articles we have. You should pray Istikhara for yourself, and it does not foretell the future. It is simply a prayer asking Allah to guide you to what it best.

  99. Assalam-o-Alaikum Wael,

My daughter (21) years old is interested in a married man who has a child also (which does not live with him). The man is 13 years older to her and she has made salat-al-istikhara also for 7 nights. she has told me all about him and her interest in him and now she wants me to speak to her father about it. i am very confused and worried as i know her father would get very angry and upset on knowing this. he might also not accept this but as per my daughters point of view (me as a mother) it is she who will be spending her life with that man, i have tried conveying many points to my daughter also but it seems she insist on this man. please help me as to what shall i do and how should i speak to my husband about it because since she has done istikhara i want to give it a try and see if Allah is willing to it (if He is than He will make a place of understanding in my husbands heart, right). please tell me if i should speak to her father or not and in what manner or should i just wait for Allah, Since i dont know what step should be taken after the istikhara is done. please help me in my confusing state.

  100. Asssalam alykum, what if I have questions regarding sheriat where is the best site to use
