She has been taken back home to Bangladesh by force – What can I do to help her?!

prisoner, trapped, can't escape, depressed, leave, escape, confined

Taken away by force... Trapped in a country half a world away... How can I help her?

Salam,

i am in a very difficult situation at the moment, My girl friend has been taken back home by her brother forcefully as he did not want her to get married to me due to the fact that i am a pakistani and she is a bengali. it has been over a month now since they Left england. she use to phone me everyday and we were in contact but i lost contact with her a week ago. she advised me to contact the police if i do not hear from her. it has been over a week now since i last spoke to her, i have no contact with her at the moment and i am worried about her safety.
her brother might force her to get married back home. she said she will kill herself but will not get married to anyone her brother have already hit her numerous times and she sent me pictures of bruises on her body that was caused by her brother hitting and punching her.
i am not sure if the police could help me in this situaution as she is not here.

she is in bangladesh right now and i have no contact with her whatsoever i think her brother have taken the phone off her and locked her in the house.

as i have no contact with her so i am not sure when she is going to come back or if they are coming back and me contacting the authorities might cause more problems for her.
we are both madly in love with each other and did not want to go against her family hence the reason why we did not get married but as soon as she comes back we are going to get married with or without her parents blessings:

NOTE: her mother have no problem with us getting married it is her brother as he is the main head of the family, her dad passed away when she was only 12 years old.

Thanks for reading

JazakAllah

Forced abduction and marriage is against Islam, and is illegal in many countries. If you have concerns for her safety, then it's important to try to help her, in a way that doesn't put her at further risk.

I'd advise that you have a look at the UK Government's website resources about forced marriage and how they can help, which can be accessed at http://www.gov.uk/forced-marriage - and my understanding is that it doesn't matter if she is in the country or not - if she is a UK citizen, her rights should be protected as a UK citizen abroad, by the Government.

It can be difficult to know whether or not to take action such as involving the authorities, as these things can't be easily undone once set in motion. In this case, your girlfriend has made her wishes clear that she wants the authorities to be contacted should the two of you lose contact with each other.

Right now, the priority needs to be getting her home safely. Once she is home, the two of you can then inshaAllah make your relationship halal and you can help her heal from this ordeal.

You will both be in my duas. May Allah protect her from harm and comfort you both.

Whatever people decide to do, please remember to act within the law, and not to publish identifying information on the internet.

  4. Salaam brother.
Personally I believe its important for you to contact the authorities as what her brother has done is illegal and can be jailed for it. Its unfair on her to be taken away forcefully and most probably get married to someone from there. You have been advised by her for a reason because most probably she knew what will happen to her.
Dont waste time in contacting the authorities. There have been many cases in the uk and the police have managed to bring the girl back safely as long as she is willing to come back.
Hope she is well and returns back safe inshaAllah
I am sure she is depending on you in sending her help dont let her down. Dont delay get the authorities involved as soon as
