We shared breast milk as children, can we marry?

breast feeding

Salam brother,

I have an important question to ask. I am wondering if I'm able to marry my cousin. When we were toddlers I drank my aunt's breast milk by accident thinking it was my mom. And after my mom also breastfed my male cousin (her brother) approximately 3 times. And we were both under the age of 2.

Then two years later my female cousin was born, (the one I'd like to marry) and she did not drink any milk of my mother. Now my family is interested to marry me to her but first I would like to know is it Haram to marry her?

Please write me back ASAP. I apreciate your time and effort. May Allah bring you great joy, and all your wishes come true.

Yours Truly,

  1. Asif, As-salamu alaykum,

If you drank your aunt's breast milk more than five times under the age of two, then her children (your cousins) are your milk brothers and sisters, and you cannot marry your cousin.

If it happened less than five times then it does not meet the conditions for making your cousin your milk sister, and you can marry her.

The fact that your mother breastfed your male cousin is irrelevant.

I answered this question in detail previously, see it here:
