What is the correct way to pray?
Assalamu Alaikum,
I am unsure about dua in prayer.
1. For example in zuhr: 4rakhats sunnah, 4rakhats fard, 2rakhats sunnah, 2rakhats nafl, so do you raise you hands for dua after each group of rakhats OR do you just raise hands for dua right at the end?
2. Can you make dua in any language? Is it valid to say "O Allah please forgive me", "O Allah please save me from hellfire", "O Allah keep my family in good health" etc..

u can because Allah SWT liste to all voices irrespective it being arabic...u can as well use ur mother tongu to seek Allah 's blessings

Fard Salat is prayed in Arabic only. Your personal du'a can be made in your native language. Some advise that if you a particular madhab (shafi, hanafi, hambali, maliki) all of the particulars of salat are outlined according to each school of thought. Others don't follow madhab, but are still given instructions on how to pray based on the teachings of imams that they may follow. My best suggestion to you is to ask your local imam how you need to complete salat, and remember as far as "raising the hands" there are approaches about this and your imam should be able to explain why there are and recommend what you should do.

As Amy said, some madhhabs may have small differences such as where to place the hands, when to raise the hands, etc. These things are not so important. Of course we should strive to learn the Sunnah and pray as the Prophet (pbuh) prayed. But if others have different opinions, we should not make an issue out of it.
