THE JAVANESE WEDDING

This is a letter and photo we recently received from a reader:

Dear Zawaj.com, Assalamu alaykum,

I want to share our wedding customs with the whole world. This is the wedding custom from Sundanis, West Java, which is one of the provinces of Indonesia. Indonesia actually has a tremendous variety of wedding customs because it encompasses so many islands, peoples and cultures.

In West Java we use a lot of jasmine for our acessories and the bride wears a crown of jasmine in her hair. This crown is called a siger. Here is a photo of me wearing a siger.
