His mother’s refusal seems unfair

I’m a Christian woman in South Africa. When I was in school I met a muslim guy who at that stage was not strong in his faith. We became good friends and naturally strong feelings developed. After school he wanted to better himself, and became dedicated to islam and he went for 4 months jammat.
