What does Islam say about having Life Insurance Policies?

I know a person who may or may not be related to me. Recently, I found out that he had a life insurance policy on his mother. The mother has passed away (Allah give her a space in heaven Ameen). He has recieved some good amount of money.

I am very angry and upset that he had a life insurance on his mother
