Is Alaia an Arabic Name?
Is Alaia an Arabic name meaning virtuous? I can't find any verification.
If so, can it also be spelled Alaya. Is this an appropriate Muslim female name? I'm not confusing it with Aaliyah, I'm interested specifically in the name Alaia.

Assalamualaikim,
Sister, I think you are referring to the word (على spelt 'Alayya in English). In Arabic, it means 'upon me'.
I don't see any sense in naming your daughter this. Perhaps 'Aaliyah is much better. Allah Knows Best.

It seems as though you wrote ' Ali ' in arabic, not ' Alaia ' .
I could not type the Tashkeel
Anyhow these are the letters that make the word 'Alayya.

No akhi waseem what u said is different alayya is quite different from alaia.. the zimma is not there on this name in arabic fonts.
'Alaia' is not from arabic origin but ' Aaliyah ' is. And 'Aaliyah' is much more preffered than ' Alaia '.
'Alaia' is from basque origin and its meaning is ' Joyful '. It is used in english speaking countries.
Whereas ' Aaliyah ' means ' sublime, exalted, lofty '.
I prefer Aaliyah 😀
The choice is yours 😀
SisterBibi, it's hard to tell which name you are asking about without knowing how you are spelling it in Arabic, or how exactly you are pronouncing it.
I have a cousin (Egyptian) whose name is 'Alyaa' - ayn, lam, ya, alef, hamza.
علیاء
This means heavenly or lofty. So that seems like a good name.
