Difficulties in getting married

mercy nikah

Salam! I would like to ask advice and clarification about getting married here in Bahrain. My fiancee is pakistani muslim man and I'm Filipina catholic lady (not converting). We want to register for Civil marriage in the Ministry of justice. We already have completed all the documents they need as per requirements they are given to us. The problem is when we want to make an appointment they denied our papers because I'm catholic. But when we took the paper that contains the requirement from the sharia court office. They said we can marry. We got confused. Did someone here knows where we wil go for help? What is the diference of Sharia court and Civil court law? Which court law we need to register our marriage? We just want to legalize our marriage. We dont want religious marriage for now coz we know its impossible since we are from different religions. Is someone there made a civil marriage here in bahrain? Hoping for reponse. Thank you!

If there are legal issues regarding getting married, your best option might be to ask a local lawyer - they should be able to tell you more about any issues and how to address them.

In Islam, it is essential for a couple to have an Islamic marriage ceremony, known as a nikah. Having a nikah doesn't require you to convert to Islam - a Muslim man can marry a woman who is Christian or Jewish, provided she is pious and respects his religious beliefs.
