Can we both get married after we convert?

But we are planning to convert from Christian to Islam and to get married. My question is, can we become a legal wife and husband?

Am I obligated to educated my husband’s girlfriend about Islam?

I have been a muslim for 18 years. My husband and I seperated 3 years ago but have not divorced. He has however taken on a new girl-friend, and has asked me to forgive her for the things she has done to me and wants me to teach her about Islam.
