All about Dreams

Assalamu alaikum,

I am a muslin girl, I pray 5 times regularly and try to follow the Islamic regulations as much as possible. I've been going through the posts here for few months and i think i can get some better advice from here.

From my childhood, I use to have dreams a lot. Scientifically, most of them would be just reflection of my day to day activities. But some dreams really have impacts on mind even after i woke up.

Few years ago, often I used to have dreams of stars and moon, sometimes I am walking through the stars, falling from one to another, or having the moon very close to my bedroom. Dreams were not too scary but I felt nervous sometimes.

I want to know if there is any meaning of these dreams or any duas that I need to practice.

  1. Assalamualaikum sister,

You need not worry about such dreams. As you said, they could be a reflection from your day to day life.

    Dreams are of three types:

    1. Dreams that are from Allah as a Guidance from Him or as a Glad Tiding. If you have such dreams, then thank Allah and mention or narrate there dreams, only to those you trust.

    2. Dreams that are from the Shaitaan to scare you or lead you to sins. When you have such dreams, seek refuge in Allah from what you saw and its interpretation, then spit thrice on your left (spit consisting of air and little spittles), then change the side you were sleeping (if you saw the dream while you were facing left, then sleep turning right). But if you wish to offer prayer, then perform ablution and offer two Rakaa'aat.
Never narrate the dream to anyone at all. Because, according to a Sahīh Hadith, the interpretation of this dream comes true if you narrate it to anyone.

    3. Dreams that are a reflection from the day to day life, having no meaning.

If you think too much about stars and the moon, then it is probably due to this that you have there dreams. Otherwise they may have some meaning.
But I do not think anyone here can interpret it for you. Only the elites among the Scholars have the knowledge of dream interpretation.
And the dreams may mean different for different people. If I have the same dream as yours, it may mean different for me and different for you. So, its difficult to interpret dreams.

Hence, my advise to you is that you do not worry about your dreams and concentrate on your Deen. You need not worry about them. Just follow the above steps, based on what type of dream you see (Note that these steps are from a Sahīh Hadith).

    Wassalamualaikum
