Why Pork is Haram in Islam?
Assalamu Alaykum Brothers and Sisters in Islam,
Alhamdulillah I am a muslim and I know that eating Pork is haram in Islam.
I live in US and I have lots people around me with different religions.
Sometimes they question me " Why eating pork is haram in Islam?"
My respond to them because Allah(swt) ordered that not to eat pork and its haram.
I do not know any other details why Allah(swt) made it haram.
And I don't have enough knowledge how to explain them all the details of it.
I only know that Pork is haram in Islam.
Could you please teach me why Allah(swt) said that Pork is haram?

PORK AND ITS HARMFUL EFFECTS ON HEALTH
He has only forbidden you carrion, blood and pork and what has been consecrated to other than Allah. But anyone who is forced to eat it-without desiring it or going to excess in it-commits no crime. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Qur'an, 2:173)
Eating pork is harmful to health in a great many regards. This harm still persists today, despite all the precautions that are taken. First and foremost, no matter how clean the farms and environments on which it is raised may be, the pig is not by nature a clean-living animal. It often plays in, and even eats, its own excrement. Due to this and its biological structure, the pig produces much higher levels of antibodies in its body than other animals. In addition, far higher levels of growth hormone are produced in the pig compared to those in other animals and human beings. Naturally, these high levels of antibodies and growth hormone pass across to and collect in the pig's muscle tissue. Pork meat also contains high levels of cholesterol and lipids. It has been scientifically proven that these significant amounts of antibodies, hormones, cholesterol and lipids in pork represent a serious threat to human health.
The existence of above-average numbers of obese individuals in the populations of countries such as the USA and Germany, in which large quantities of pork are consumed, is now well-known. When exposed to excessive quantities of growth hormone as a result of a pork-based diet, the human body first puts on excessive weight and then suffers physical deformations.
Another harmful substance in pork is the "trichina" worm. This is frequently found in pork and when it enters the human body, it settles directly in the muscles of the heart and represents a possibly fatal threat. Even though it is now technically possible to identify pigs that are infected with trichina, no such methods were known in earlier centuries. That means that everyone who ate pork risked infection by trichina and possible death.
All these reasons are just a part of the wisdom in our Lord's prohibition on the consumption of pork. Moreover, this commandment of our Lord's provides complete protection from the harmful effects of pork under any conditions.
Until the 20th century, it was impossible to be aware of the danger posed to human health by pork. The fact that the Qur'an, revealed fourteen centuries ago, warns against this harm which has been incontrovertibly revealed with modern medical equipment and biological tests, is one of the miracles demonstrating that the Qur'an is the revelation of Allah, the Omniscient. Despite all the precautionary measures and inspections that take place in modern-day pig rearing, the fact that pork is physiologically incompatible with the human body and is a variety of meat harmful to human health has not altered.
Diseases transported by pork:
Islamic forbids pork and Muslims apply it obeying to the order of Allah without argument in the causes of this forbidden but modern scientists reached to this astonished results in this field.
It's amazing that pig is rich pasture for more than 450 epidemic diseases and it is playing the role of intermediary to transform 57 diseases to man, in addition to these diseases that are caused from eating pork as dyspepsia, the atherosclerosis and many others.
The pig itself is responssible alone to transform 27 epidemic diseases to human and some other animals participate it in other diseases but it stills the store and the main source of these diseases as: The liar hydrophobia, Wile disease, Japanese fever, Malta fever, Scrofula, Meningitis, krip epidemics, The pig's flu & others.

The response that you normally give is exactly correct. It is forbidden because Allah has prohibited it in the Quran, and we Muslims accept what is given in the Quran and do not question it. Our declaration of the shahadah means that we have submitted our wills to the will of Allah, and we have accepted the Prophet Muhammad (sws) as our teacher and guide. We follow what Allah and His Messenger have given us.
Of course we can theorize why Allah has prohibited pork. We can look at scientific data and health studies and see that pork is bad for the body. But these are only theories. Whether or not we can see the "reasons" behind the prohibition, we still follow it, because we are Muslims.

In addition to the above health problems caused by eating pork.Pork is the only animal which calls his friends and enjoys watching them having *** with his wife.If the theory what we eat effects our bevahiour is true then Allah help us.
Camels are also the only animal that hide and mate not in open.Subhanallah

I dint knw ...animals get married and keep wives.........pork for all the reasons mentioned above is prohibited....not cuz it wud make you crave for sex....or make u swap ur spouse....animals do not marry....and morever, sex is a reward or pleasure ...allowed by Allah in rightful way.....not a punishment or curse..which Almighty would want you to curb it ....pleaseeee give me a break

Why PORK (pig’s flesh) is HARAM in ISLAM? (Scientific Answers)

01- CONSUMPTION OF PORK CAUSE SEVERAL DISEASES
The other non-Muslims and atheists (disbelievers of God) will agree only if convinced through reason, logic and science. Eating of pork can cause no less than SEVENTY different types of diseases.
A person can have various helminthes like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc… One of the most dangerous is “Taenia Solium”, which is in lay man’s terminology called tapeworm. It harbors in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack, if it enters the eye it can cause blindness, if it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body.
Another dangerous helminthes is Trichura Tichurasis. A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from Trichura Tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ova present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.
02-DISEASES CAUSED BY PORK IN DETAIL
The following lists show germs or parasites that are found in pork and some diseases caused by them. Many of these diseases are contagious while some are proven fatal. This proves that the more science advances the more Islam is shown correct as a religion of God.
PARASITIC (Bloodsucking) DISEASES
a) TRICHINELLA SPIRATIS ( Trichina worms )
It is the most dangerous parasite to man ( Rheumatism and muscular pain). The infected persons shown no symptoms, recover very slowly some die, some reduced to permanent invalids. No one is immune from this disease and there is no cure.
b) TAENIA SOLIUM ( Pork tape worm )
The worm causes malnourishment of the person leading to anemia, diarrhea, extreme depression melancholia and digestive disturbances. Cysticercosis means that larva enter the blood stream then settle down in one or more of the vital organs of the body, for example: brain, liver, lungs or spinal cord. They grow and encapsulate, inducing pressure to thesystem around, resulting in dangerous diseases (diarrhea,digestive disorder, anemia, chronic invalidation).
c) ROUND WORMS
Examples: Ascaris, which may lead to digestive disturbances, appendicitis, obstructive jaundice.
d) HOOK WORMS
Examples:Ancylostomiasis, which may lead to anemia, oedema, heart failure or retarded growth ( mental and physical), tuberculosis,
diarrhea and typhoid.
e) SCHITOSOMA JAPONICUM
Bleeding, anemia and other syndromes. If ova are settled in the brain or spinal cord, paralysis and death may occur.
f) PARAGOMINES WESTERMAINI
Infestation leading to bleeding of the lungs ( endenve haemoptysis )
g) PACIOLEPSIS BUSKI
Digestive disturbances leading to persistent diarrhea; generalized oedema.
h) CLONORCHIS SINENSIS
chlonorchiasis-obstructive jaundice, liver enlargement.
i) METASTRONGYLUS APRI
Causes bronchitis, abscess of the lungs.
j) GIGANTHORINCHUS GIGAS
Cause anemia and digestive disorders.
k) BALATITIDIUM COLI
Causes acute dysentery and general weakness.
BACTERIAL DISEASES
Tuberculosis Fusiformis necrofurus: causing foot-rot which is very difficult to heal.
Salmonella Cholera suis: causing cholera Paratyphoid
Bruceellosis: Acute, sub acute and chronic. It may lead to permanent disabilities.
Swine Erysipelas: causing Erysipelas in man.
VIRAL DISEASES
Small pox: is was a source of infection to man.
Japanese B-encepphalitis: It is the source of infection
Influenza, foot mouth disease, gas tro-enteritis of the new born babies.
PROTOZOAN DISEASES
Toxo plasma goundii- It is a very dangerous diseases. A new born baby of an infected woman may die within few days or weeks after delivery. But if he survives he may develop blindness or deafness.In adult chronic exhaustive fever with enlarged liver and spleen may occur. Pneumonia, or celebro- spinal meninggitis which may lead to death or madness. The patient may become blind and deaf too.
OTHER DISEASES
Flesh of the pork is hard to digest and may lead to chronic digestive disturbances. Pimples, boils, cysts are common in pork eaters. These are some of the parasites and diseases found in pork and/ or the skin of pigs and certainly there are many more. There is still no means of killing these parasites, in the tissues, neither has anyone found a method of expelling them, even produced any specific treatment for the diseases.
03-FATS IN PIGS
Pork contains more fats than other meats. Therefore, people who are loving of pork are more fat than others. Cholesterol is higher in their blood thus making them more flat to asthereosclerosis cardiovascular accidents and sudden death.
04-PIG IS THE MOST SHAMELESS ANIMAL
The pig is the most shameless animal on the face of the earth. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate. In America, most people consume pork. Many times after dance parties, they have swapping of wives; i.e. many say “you sleep with my wife and I will sleep with your wife.” If you eat pigs then you behave like pigs. We look upon America to be very advanced and sophisticated. Whatever they do, we follow after a few years. According to an article in Island magazine, this practice of swapping wives has become common practice in South Asia.
05- PIG IS ONE OF THE FILTHIEST ANIMALS ON EARTH
The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, feces and dirt. It is the best scavenger that I know that God has produced. In the villages they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers defecate in the open air (Body releases) and Very often these releases are cleared by pigs.
Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbor's excreta.
CONCLUSION:
Isn’t Allah merciful to us?
When Allah Almighty prohibits (Haram) something for His servants, He does so certainly out of His overflowing mercy on them, to save them from all what may bring them harm; He is indeed Ever-Kind and Most Glorious!

I am not too sure about the above explanations but here is my understanding.
If we look at the Order (specie) of Pig, it is same as Goat (Artiodactyla). Muslims at the time of Prophet were aware of it i.e. it falls under the category of anam. However, it is the only kind of anam which also eats flesh so then the question was raised if it was halal or haram to consume pig. We all know that if an animal has bestiality in it then they are classified as haram to consume such as lion, Dog, cat etc. Therefore, God gave verdict on it hence the reason it is specifically mentioned in Quran.
May God guide me on the straight path and forgive me if I have understood incorrectly.

It's Haram because Allah said so. Allah created pork then asked you not to consume it as a test. Any other reason why it's haram is because Allah is making it so that disobeying him creates a problem for you in this life too. If Allah wanted, pork would be wonderful and good for you, but to help us out Allah has made issues with consuming pork.
Think about fornication, a lot of people said, why can't everyone just enjoy that with everyone else. Why did Allah make it haram outside of marriage. So to help people out, we now have Aids as a disease. People that weren't concerned about burning in hell for eternity, because it would be disobeying Allah, are concerned about not getting a disease in this life. Allah is pretty merciful.
So it's not the reasons why it's bad that it's haram, it's haram because Allah said so. Allah then can add issues with going against his orders if it helps people out.
