If it is all due to luck then why the man is struggling?

Bad luck clover

Am I giving him bad luck?

I was listening to the translation of Quran and came to know that Allah has said that if HE would have been willing those "kaffar" could have been good but he has reduced their understanding for whom he wants that they should remain as it is and has upgraded the understanding of those people whom he want to be on the right path.

As per my understanding, everything which is happening in this world is as per the WILL of the Allah and which he has written in the luck of that person. If a person is doing bad things and will go to hell is due to his luck that we will be a bad person and if a man is good and goes to heaven is also due to his luck.

Which means that if a man does everything well is his office can be fired due to his luck, a woman doing good to her family can be divorced due to her luck and for that matter if a person not doing well in office and is fired is also due to his luck and a woman not doing good to her family is divorced due to her luck.

If a person sit at home and do nothing it was his luck to sit at home and do nothing and on the other hand if a man goes our and struggles for earnings it was his luck to do so. First man is on the wrong path due to his luck as it was not written in his luck to struggle for earning and the second man is on the right path due to his luck..

If we go towards  good or bad things which ultimately become the reason for our success or failure is all due to luck then why is man so struggling???

  1. Assalamualaikum,

Perhaps the word should be predestination or destiny, and not luck. Luck sounds like 'world camr into existence by chance'.

    The answer to your question:

Your understanding that Allah Has Written our destiny is true. He Knew what we would do and knows what we will do till death and even after that. His Knowledge is beyond imagination.

Saying that everything happens because it has been written and man has no choice over it is totally wrong. Allah Created humans and gave them a choice between the good and the bad.

You can think about the wisdom of Allah by reading the following from the Quran:

    2:30
And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority." They said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?" Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know."

The angels knew man would shed blood, then how would the wisdom of the One Who Created the angels be? Subhaanallah.

The angels have not been given the choice. They worship Allah and it is not in their nature to sin or commit a mistake. But He Gave human beings the choice.

Additionally, if anyone says that he sins because he is destined to sin, he is a jaahil (an ignorant). Allah does not oppress anyone and He Never Forces anyone to do anything. We do not do what we do, because He Has Written it in our destiny. But we should know that He Has Written it in our destiny, because He Knew by His Wisdom, what choice man will make. It is our choice and not 'luck'.

So if anyone chooses the path of the people of the hell fire, Allah lets him to himself. And if anyone chooses the path of the people of Paradise, Allah encourages it. A dua Allah's Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam used to read:

(O' Living, O' Everlasting, by Your Mercy I seek your
help. Amend for me all my matters, and do not entrust me on myself a twinkle of an eye.)

So never think that man struggles because of the Qadr. He struggles because of the choices he makes. Yes, sometimes it is a test from Allah. He Says:

    2:155
And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient,

  2. Actually, your question has a very simply answer but many fail to understand it.

Yes, it is true that everything is predestined. Allah has written down everything that will happen till the day of Judgement in the Preserved Tablet.

However, the reason why we cannot blame predestination for our choice is we do not know what has already been written down. What has been written down is only unveiled through our course of actions.

Here is an example. Suppose, you are told to choose from a crappy obsolete Nokia 3310 and a Samsung Galaxy S2. It has been told to you that whatever you choose will be yours.

Now, Allah already knows what you are going to choose. Which phone you are going to choose from these two cell phones is already predestined.

But you do not have the knowledge of predestination. So it means you the have full freedom at the time of making decision. So what do you do? No sane person will choose the obsolete Nokia 3310. But if you choose the Nokia 3310, and then resent your choice, can you blame your predestination for your choice? The answer is you cannot.

Hope it is clear now 🙂

  3. After reading the comments ,my mind is questioning me that If Allah knows by his wisdom that if a person 'X' is going to make a wrong choice which will lead to him to hell fire then Allah can cease the creation of that person as a mercy on him.Why he doesn't do that ? at least it will save that person from punishment.

    • msk, do not let your mind ask questions which come from the Shaitaan. And it is a part of Allah's Justice, He does not wrong anyone. He Says in Surah Sajadah:

      32:12
If you could but see when the criminals are hanging their heads before their Lord, [saying], "Our Lord, we have seen and heard, so return us [to the world]; we will work righteousness. Indeed, we are [now] certain."

      32:13
And if we had willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me will come into effect [that] "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and people all together.

Then He said why He Will put them into the Hell.

      32:14
So taste [punishment] because you forgot the meeting of this, your Day; indeed, We have [accordingly] forgotten you. And taste the punishment of eternity for what you used to do."
      32:15
Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [ Allah ] with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant.

There is no doubt that a person chooses what he wants to follow and Allah Knows it. But the famous Hadith says that Dua can change Qadr. But even this change is something He Knew in advance.
