Can someone help me interpret the Istikhara dreams please?
Asalaam U alaikum,
I wanted to make a choice between two subjects as I had to choose one of them for my Exams, but I couldn't. So I did the istikhara for one of the subject, say biology, as whether I should opt for it or not. However, I couldn't interpret my dream, as there were certain things that happened. First I couldn't sleep till the Sehri time reached, as I slept after Fajjar prayers, I saw a man with red hair telling me about buying a book for the subject.
Secondly, as they say seeing red or black in your dream is a negative sign. I saw the dream after sehri(suhoor), somebody had told me one should not talk to anyone after offering Istikhara prayers, so I did the Istikhara Nex day again. I saw one portion of hair getting blacker and as long as height of a building. Now, I want to know is the first dream valid and also, do we have to consider only colour or signs and ignore any verbal manifestation? Please help me as I need to decide in next three days.
Wasalaam,
Manaal.

Salaams,
It would be beneficial for you to read the articles on this site about istikhara, and see if they answer any of your questions. I know you said that you had to make a choice in 3 days, so I am sure what I am writing now will be moot. I hope, however, that this information helps if you ever make another istikhara.
As best I understand, trying to understand the outcome of istikhara is not so much about technical interpretation as much as it is about feeling in your heart what direction you are being led. According to one of the articles about istkhara posted here by the sites founder Wael:
Misconceptions about istikhara:
1. Istikhara is not about having a dream. If one reviews the wording of the hadith, one finds that it is not asking for a dream, it is asking God to make one's affairs occur in the best way. Because one did not have a dream, a sign on a bus or a billboard go by them on the highway, does not mean it didn't "work".
2. You CAN have a dream or a sign, and this is totally possible. But one should recognize that this is primarily about asking Allah to take control and that one is relegating his will to Allah's will, knowledge, and infinite insight about what is best for you. And when you make this, you are finding the best way of putting your heart at ease, by asking Allah (swt) to handle your affairs with what He knows is best and finding comfort that the King of the Heavens and the Earth has your back, inshAllah.
There are some who will advise if you don't get a clear feeling of direction after the first istikhara, make it again and see if anything changes. I've heard this can be done up to 7 times. If, after that, you still feel bewildered, then perhaps the choice is yours to make with no negible consequences either way to worry about. Or, some would say that if you are still feeling neutral at the end, to leave off and choose another direction.
And Allah knows best.

Asslam o alaikum ,
I did istekhara for subject choice for Msc as i have a broader choice for subjects( clinical psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, Child psychology, Forestry and agriculture ) so it created a situation of conflict for me and i thought the best way is to do istekhara, to seek the guidance from Allah. The first night i had a dream that i am in a jungle and there are huge snakes and wild animals around. The scenery was awesome but i was scared of snakes but i managed to kill them but one of them had bitten me and i only had a bit of pain in my leg but nothing else other than that. I would really appreciate of your prompt reply as i have to make decision within a couple of weeks.
Warm regards,
Mah Tallat
Mah, normally I would tell you to log in and write your question in a separate post, but since you are in a hurry and your question is simple, I will answer now. The result of Salat-al-Istikhara is not based on dreams or dream interpretation. This is a myth. After you have prayed Istikhara, choose the course of action that feels right to you in your heart, and trust that Allah is guiding you in response to your prayer. We have some good articles about Istikhara on our website (links at the top of the page) so please check those.

Hello i wanted to share a dream that i had after doing istakhara regarding my marriage issue. I saw a lake filled with deep very deep dark blue clean water. I am looking at the water from above n i am very much afraid of falling into it. I am sitting on wooden place that is above that lake but is a very dangerous place to sit on. The water is calm and clean but the lake is very deep and the place where i am sitting is very high. Plx tel me the meaning of this dream .

We do not interpret dreams. Please see our article about istikhara on the main page for more clarification.
