Islamic marriage advice and family advice

My brother left Islam, how do I relate to him?

my brother ran away from home when he was about 14. He caused a lot of problems and really put strain on the family. We tried to bring him back only to find out that he had become a. christian. For about 3 yrs we tried various ways to try and. get him back. on the right path but he took us to court and. put a restraining order on us all so we let him go.

recently my sister and i had contact with him and we have been trying to talk to him and be friendly in the hope that he would realise he did wrong and return. He is now 26 yrs old and we have found out that he is really into the church scene and is also engaged to marry the priest daughter at the end of the year. He seems to think that since we are brother and sister and we have the same blood so we should be accepting of him no matter what he is..... plz help. what do i do. i know i shouldnt leave him like that but what do i do?

  2. You will never be able to bring him back whilst you tell him he is wrong. Rather, it is better to inspire him to be closer to you than push him away with negativity and pressure. If he speaks Arabic, then tell him the story of Anselm Turmeda. I would if in your place) share with him his enthusiasm for Christianity by asking him to explain to you in detail the scriptures, the history and inshallah, under his own research he will find his own answer in the same way that Anselm Turmeda did, and come back to Islam.

By my humble understanding of my own reading of the Quran, all people of God are people of God and I am sure I will soon be corrected here if I am wrong, but if he prays (which Christians do), fasts (which Christians do), believes in Allah and the last day (which Christians do), gives Charity (which Christians do) and doesnt worship Jesus as a God and the Trinity (which only a certain branch of Christianity actually do, contrary to popular belief) - then he is a believer still and should be regarded as such.

    Peace be with you,
    Jasmine
