Appeal for Pakistan Flood Aid

Message from the IslamicAnswers.com Staff:

As-salamu alaykum brothers and sisters,

Abû Hurayrah relates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The fasting person has two occasions for joy, one when he breaks his fast because of his breaking it and the other when he meets his Lord because of the reward for his fast.”

However, some people have no joy at the end of the day, because they have no food to break their fasts. In Pakistan, as a result of the massive and terrible floods, millions of people have lost their homes and possessions, and are without basic supplies.

When we break our Ramadan fasts at iftaar time with clean water and nutritious food, sitting in the comfort of our homes, let us be so grateful to Allah, and let us remember our brothers and sisters in Pakistan who are suffering and desperately need help.

The situation in Pakistan is desperate. Look at the heartbreaking photos below, then let's ask ourselves how we could refuse to help. Surely our consciences would not allow us to stand by without helping.

If you have already donated for these poor people, Jazakum Allah khayran (may Allah reward you so much).

I realize that times are hard. Many people are jobless, and most of us are struggling. If you want to help but you do not have the money, then say constant and sincere dua' for the flood victims. Allah is the Knower and Seer; He knows your intention and the goodness of your heart, and will reward you.

If you can manage to make a donation, remember that this sacred month is a time of sadaqah and mercy. Take this opportunity to have your good deeds multiplied. Whatever you give, Allah will magnify it for you and return it to you many times over in barakah and in blessings.

You can donate immediately through one of the following:

Islamic Relief Worldwide

Life for Relief and Development

SOS Children's Villages International

All are excellent and trustworthy aid organizations who are working on the ground in Pakistan.

  1. The last two photos really moved me. The girl tending to her sick younger brother all by herself. And the boy standing by himself in the flood waters. May Allah help them and have mercy on them.

  2. More and more pictures are being published and they are all very disturbing and saddening.

I read today of a lady who gave birth to her new born five days ago, born into diasasterous conditions, no home, no clothes, no roof over her head, not knowing how to even feed her poor baby. I am sure there are many more similar cases.

May Allah make something good come of this terrible disaster and may He(swt) give all these people and all those suffering around the world: Sabr, Eemaan along with Food and Shelter - aameen.
