I cannot do istikhaarah myself

English Translation of the Dua for Istikhaarah

English Translation of the Dua for Istikhaarah

Salaam ,

Kindly let me know a name and contact of a scholar who can do istikhara for me. I know doing istikhara yourself is always good but somehow my conditions do not allow me to do it myself.

I will be very thankful for this help.

May Allah bless you.

  1. Salaams,

If I can be candid, I don't understand why you would say that you can't pray istikhara for yourself. Even if someone is disabled or paralyzed and cannot physically make even one rakat, istikhara can still be prayed. There is nothing stopping someone from seeking Allah's guidance if he is sane and can develop cogent thoughts in his mind. Even those who are mute can make the dua of istikhara in their head and heart by thinking of what would be said under regular conditions.

I tend to believe that because you were able to get online, post this question in a clear way that could be understood by all, there is nothing to prohibit you from making istikhara yourself insha'Allah. In addition, we do not advocate for others making it on someone's behalf, and do not issue such referrals as a result.

    • I am supposing she is unable to pray due to the ritual impurity, in which case I would advise her to read the dua without offering the salah.

Sister Maanih, asking someone else to do Istikhaatah on your behalf is not correct.

      • Aha. I don't know how you could tell the gender of the poster lol.

In any case, another option is to wait for impurity to end and pray it afterwards. Even in cases where women bleed incessantly, they are only allowed to refrain from salat a certain number of days before it becomes obligatory upon them again.

Personally, I thought ritual impurity was only an invalidator of the required obligations, not a deterrent to completing sunnah practices like istikhara...guess I learned something new today 😉

  2. Oh I am sorry I think i caused confusion with my question... First of all I am a male and i am not impure at all i ve never done any forbidden thing in my life.. i know you have to do istikhara by yourself but my situation is as such that I cannot say I am thinking rationally at all and i cannot concentrate my mind doesn't let me and its a matter of great importance both emotionally and morally so i don't want it to be overpowered by me.
    May Allah bless you

    • The thought that you can not is itself the cause for your discomfort. You are not confident, which puts you down and which makes you feel you are not capabale of worahipping Allah properly.

Your statement " i ve never done any forbidden thing in my life" is false. There is none who does not sin, whether smaller ones or bigger ones. Tawbah is what could erase these sins and help earn Allah's Pleasure.

“Every son of Adam sins, and the best of those who sin are those who repent.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi

Considering oneself unworthy of worshipping Allah is insensible, as none can worship Allah as He should be Worshipped.

Allah Says in Surah at Taghaabun:

      64:16
So fear Allah as much as you are able and listen and obey and spend [in the way of Allah ]; it is better for your selves. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.

So fear Allah, as much as you can. Try whatever you can. Worship in thr best manner you can. Whatever you do with the Niyyah of Pleasing Allah, in accordance with the Sunnah of Rasoolullah, in sha Allah, you will find Allah's Help in it.

If you want me to be honest, people who lack trust in Allah ask someone else to ask Allah on their behalf, what they should do. None can do istikhaarah on your behalf. There is this Pakistani TV channel that shows an Istikhaarah program, where people give them a call and ask people to do Istikhaarah for them. These juhalaa' (ignorants) then answer them saying such and such a thing seems good as a result of Istikhaarah.

Beware of these liars and beware of such TV channels. And go ahead, put your trust in Allah and perform Istikhaarah yourself. Would you stop the obligatory prayers because your thought dominates your concentration? This is everyone's problem. You should seek help for keeping your concentration instead of giving up the worship itself.

Prophet sallallahu Alaihi wasallam: It is from the happiness of the son of Adam to practice Istikharah & be pleased with what Allah had ordained for him. And, it is from the misery of the son of Adam to drop the Istikhaarah of Allah & be displeased at what Allah decrees [Sunan at-Tirmidhee, hasan]

So do not let the Shaitaan make you feel your Ibadah is unworthy. Read this book in order to learn how to develop Khushoo' in prayer:

Brother, trust in Allah, correct your basics (Aqeedah) from the books such as Kitab at Tawhid, Usool ath talaathah, Usool as Sittah and others. Follow the sunnah of Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihu wasallam and trust that you will stand before Allah one day.
