Islamic marriage advice and family advice

I lost my jewelry and money. How will I get it back?

Marriage, Jeweller and divorce

Assalam alikum,

Two years ago 0n 3rd March, I was going to my maeka and I kept all my jewelry, money and other important goods in a big beauty box. I locked it properly and kept it in my suitcase, which was also locked. When I reached to my parents house, everything was there except that vanity box.

From that time I've read lots of duas and  still reading , my mom has consulted  lots of MAULANAS &  trying to find out my problem, but nothing happened.

As a lower middle class girl the jewelry and money was very valuable for me, and because of this incident I lost my respect and trust in front of my in-laws. I lost my confidence and happiness, and most of the time I feel anger and depression which is destroying my personal life.

Please help and guide me how I will get my things back, who took it (when and why), and when I will get it back.

Please, please help me- you can't imagine how much I am depressed. Please help me.

  1. Innalilahi'wainnailaihi'rajioon- read this and place your trust in Allah i lost my passport my id card every thing and still praying i hope you find your stuff and i mine just keep on saying this

  2. Wa'alaikumusalam! Did you call the authorities in KSA?

    Did you made any efforts?

    And you must know that,

“Say: None in the heavens and the earth knows the Ghaib (unseen) except Allah.” [27:65]

Secondly, you must remember Allaah (subhanahu wa ta'ala).

The Muslim should beseech Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) and turn to Him when problems and calamities befall him, because all things are in His (subhanahu wa ta'ala) hand, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Is not He (better than your gods) Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls on Him, and Who removes the evil, and makes you inheritors of the earth, generations after generations? Is there any ilah (god) with Allah? Little is that you remember!” [27:62]

Oh Allaah! Please Return to her the things that she wants. Amen! Surely You Know the Best! I know nothing!

    Allaah Knows the Best!

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. After two years, it may be difficult to recover everything, but you can always try - nothing is impossible if Allah wills it. I'm reminded of the following hadith:
One day Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) noticed a Bedouin leaving his camel without tying it and he asked the Bedouin, “Why don’t you tie down your camel?” The Bedouin answered, “I put my trust in Allah.” The Prophet then said, “Tie your camel first, then put your trust in Allah” (At-Tirmidhi).

Try approaching the authorities and reporting your property as missing or believed stolen; it might be helpful if you can provide an accurate description or even pictures of the missing items. If you were travelling on public transport, you could also try reporting the loss to the company, as they may have a record of lost/found property.

We cannot tell you who took it, where or why, or if you will get it back, as we can't possibly know these things. Some fortune-tellers and unscrupulous people may claim to be able to do so, but such people tend to use superstition, rituals and practices such as numerology or bibliomancy - which are shirk practices and so should be avoided. Don't throw more money away trying to find an answer from such people.

At the end of the day, though, even if you aren't able to recover your lost items, they are not worth causing yourself further anguish. Material possessions will not speak for us on the Day of Judgement, and will not last forever; the material trappings of this world come and go. Your faith, your good deeds, and your good character are far more important. Some people can be very critical of others, and can make judgements based on material wealth or status, but such people aren't worth getting upset over - try to let their comments go, and remember that The Prophet himself (peace be upon him) and his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) lived simple lives without many material possessions; they had a much more precious wealth - their faith in Allah.

  4. Salaams,

From what you indicated, you lost these things during travel because they were accounted for when you left and lost when you arrived and unpacked. You didn't say whether you traveled by plane, train, etc. If you take transportation like that, you can send an inquiry to the company you travelled with to have it looked into, but since it's already been two years I doubt they would be able to do anything now.

And really, that's going to be the main issue: if you haven't been able to recover your things after two years, chances are it's lost and you won't get it back. You might just have to accept that. There is no way anyone would be able to tell you who took it or when or why, it's just that things like this happen. It's part of life.

  5. AsSalaamu Alaikum Sister,

MashaAllah, you have already received excellent advice.

Though, I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but I'd like you to believe and understand in your heart that, when you loss something, you have Allah. And when you have Allah, you have everything. So please (even if you did not get your resources back after you make a report) just have faith in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and rely on Him, and then ask Him to make the lost-resources a charity for you. If you so, He will surly accept your du'a and replace your loss with something better in Dunya and Akhirah.

Do not care about what people say about you, for indeed if you have Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you are the wealthier than someone who has only resources without Him.

Please remember that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tests His servants in good and bad situations, so please be patient and be content with whatever He Has for you now, and then be grateful to Him for every gain, and for every loss.

    Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says:

"We will certainly test you with some fear and hunger, and some loss of possessions and lives and crops. But give good news to the steadfast. Those who, when a calamity afflicts them, say, “To God we belong, and to Him we will return.” Upon these are blessings and mercy from their Lord. These are the guided ones." (Quran 2: 155 - 157)

Mutarrif reported on the authority of his father:
"I came to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as he was reciting:" Abundance diverts you" (The first Ayah of Surah at-Takathur - Quran 102: 1). He said: The son of Adam claims: My wealth, my wealth. And he (the Holy Prophet) said: O son of Adam. is there anything as your belonging except that which you consumed, which you utilised, or which you wore and then it was worn out or you gave as charity and sent it forward?" (Muslim)

Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said:
"When one of you looks at one who stands at a higher level than you in regard to wealth and physical structure he should also see one who stands at a lower level than you in regard to these things (in which he stands) at a higher level (as compared to him)." (Muslim)

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
"Look at those who stand at a lower level than you but don't look at those who stand at a higher level than you, for this would make the favours (conferred upon you by Allah) insignificant (in your eyes). Abu Mu'awiya said: Upon you." (Muslim)

Please also read Surah at-Takathur (Quran 102) at your free times, and reflect on its meaning. InshaAllah, it will help you disregard the things that you have lost, and make you think of better things in Akhirah.

Please see the Surah at-Takathur below!

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.

    1. Abundance distracts you.

    2. Until you visit the graveyards.

    3. Indeed, you will know.

    4. Certainly, you will know.

    5. If you knew with knowledge of certainty.

    6. You would see the Inferno.

    7. Then you will see it with the eye of certainty.

    8. Then, on that Day, you will be questioned about the Bliss.
