Is our marriage still legal after his conversion?
Hi, good day to all of you. I am not a Muslim but I respect your religion and beliefs. My husband and I are married in a Christian church. But then, we got problems and got separated. We are not yet legally separated but I found out that he converted to Islam. If he is a Muslim already, is there a chance that our married is no longer valid? Please help me understand your take on this. Thank you so much.

A marriage is not rendered invalid if the husband converts to Islam while the wife remains a Christian. If your husband is a Muslim now, he can remain married to you if he wishes with no problem in the Islamic legal sense. This is because Islam allows for Muslim men to marry and be married to Christian and Jewish women. Any marriage that was pre-existing prior to his conversion does not need to be re-made either, it is still considered a valid marriage from its beginning.
However, it sounds like the two of you were having marital issues before you even separated and he converted, so naturally for the marriage to continue in a positive direction you two would need to work out resolutions to whatever those issues were.

Yes, he may be married to any Christian or Jewish woman. In addition, he may marry maximum three more times while he's still married to you. As he converted to a Muslim, he must know this by now and you should also know. Since you are both in the USA, and being married more than once simultaneously is illegal here, he may marry someone from a foreign country where polygamy is accepted (most parts of the world accept polygamy as the number of woman is decreasing in proportion to men everywhere in the world).
