Can we still marry after we convert to Islam?

Me and my former boyfriend are Christian, he is married to a Christian woman in the Philippines.

So far we are planning to convert: In Islam is it possible that we can get married after we convert in islam?

please help us we love each other so much

  1. Salaam Keng. Congratulations and welcome to the beautiful religion of Islam. Strictly speaking in Islam if you both convert to Islam (sincerely because you believe that it is the true religion not just to marry one another) you can then marry one another Islamically (by having a nikah).
    So if your fiancee is sincere in converting then Alhumdulilah (Praise be to God you can both convert and marry.)
    Please ensure that you fulfill all the conditions of nikah though so do some research here. Will need 2 male witnesses minimum or 1 male and 2 female. The marriage must be publicised. You will need a wali, so try to find a trusted Imam who can be your wali.

    Also does your fiancees christian wife know he is marrying you? Is he remaining with her? It may be a good idea for him to seek divorce or at least inform her as it is not nice finding out your husband has married another like that! There are many situations where this has occured and the first wife has in retaliation caused trouble between the new couple. May Allah save you from this. So considering this may prevent problems later on.
