He was a hindu, married to a hindu woman, but then converted to Islam. Is he allowed to stay with his wife?
My friend was a hindu. He got married to a hindu woman, and had a child. Recently, he reverted to Islam and is now working in Saudi Arabia. His wife remains a hindu.
Is he allowed to stay with her, or should she revert to Islam as well?
Please clarify in detail as per Islam.

There is no valid marriage between a Muslim and a Hindu. In the case of a Hindu wife who converts to Islam and her partner does not, there is a three-month 'iddah during which the husband has the opportunity to convert as well. If he does not, the marriage is dissolved.
However, when the husband is the one who converts to Islam and the wife does not, the marriage is automatically dissolved. So your friend is no longer married, according to Islamic law.
And Allah knows best.
